  1. Agreed. It's like the birthday party a kid would plan if they had free reign to do so. Full of too much stuff, no soul, gimmicky.

Reeks of having too much money to know what to do with. I bet the beer prices are fucking ridiculous too.

  2. Worth watching Battle of The Belts 3 for the Claudio \ Takeshita main event. The outcome was never in doubt, obviously, but it's a great watch all the same. Thought Hayter looked terrific in her match against Rosa ... though it did nothing for Thunder Rosa, she's absolutely terrible. She sells like somebody doing a parody of a pro-wrestler, rather than like somebody trying to react in a way natural for the thing that's just been done to them. Her constant punching of the ground and facial expressions are the worst.

  3. Yeah, the elephant in the room is that the women's division just isn't very good. If you measure a pro wrestler as a product of a) solid character \ gimmick, b) mic work and c) in-ring work, nearly everyone on the roster has at least one short-coming. Arguably only Jade Cargill is currently ticking all those boxes. Jamie Hayter looks like she could become a future star and Nyla Rose looks like she has it all but they're not using her (I've only see her AEW stuff). Everybody else is sufficiently weak in one or more areas such that they don't justify a regular higher billing on cards, in my opinion.

  4. Coming to AEW having not watched WWE for 20 years, the Miro character is a total mystery to me. I feel like I've seen the exact same promo video 50 times on Dynamite and have no idea who he is or what he's about. Something to do with being a 'redeemer'. He seems to have been in a constant holding position for weeks on end with no explanation about his character whatsoever. Why is he banging on about God the whole time, who is he trying to redeem etc. He's just instantly forgettable to me.

But seriously, there will be an element of wrestling being a plaything for Tony. You can see the difference in how he views the sport than any of his other ventures, he's not being a giddy fanboy over any football players. And fair play to him, I can't say I wouldn't play at wrestling if I had his cash.

You clearly know Tony well, so thanks for the insight.

To be honest, I don't really care about Tony Khan. Especially when he's producing great wrestling shows to distract me.

  6. Yeah, I did read that earlier in the thread. With him in as part of the BCC now though, it's hard to see them just dropping him for ROH only. Given the decision they had to make with him and where he currently is, my point still stands I think. Think they've missed a trick with Gresham.

  7. Just coming at it purely as a fan that wants to see good stuff.

I will say I hated the decision to put the belt on Claudio Castagnoli. I think ROH only works if it has a point of difference from the other AEW shows. Otherwise, it might as well just be branded AEW. At the same time, nobody is saying anything positive about ROH clogging up AEW. Jonathan Gresham was a perfect champion in my eyes. He's very definitely not an AEW guy and his style makes him clearly something different from what we see on AEW. He was the perfect person to lead the separation between the two brands. With the belt on Claudio, we've gone in the opposite direction and the two brands are brought even closer together.

  8. What a terrific show Death before Dishonor was! To think people reacted negatively to Tony Khan buying up ROH. All that shit about him playing EWR in real life. Yet here we are, a few months later and arguably the best top to bottom card of the year is an ROH show.

I think for most of the time people asking for beer samplers are just pandering to real ale twat type behaviour, in a way trying to copy wine tasting. At the end of the day its just a pint...if you don't like it then it's a few quid and not the end of the world and you know not to get it again.

A few quid? Where are you drinking? 1997?

  10. Any pub that doesn't happily offer a taster is a shit pub IMO. By the same token, don't be a dick in the way others have described here already.

NoLo (non alcoholic, low alcohol) beers have come on leaps and bounds the last couple of years IMO. Lucky Saint is a particularly good one. Lots of people seem to praise the Guinness but I don't love it myself. Big Drop are really good too, yeah. If you can bring yourself to drink Brewdog, Hazy AF, Punk AF and Lost AF are all decent.

  11. I thought Gresham looked fantastic. Yeah, he's small, but his style is so interesting to watch. He genuinely offers something a bit different I think, and that makes him great for the overall balance of the AEW product.

I don't really need to see another Moxley \ Kingston \ Santana \ Ortiz \ Miro \ Wardlow \ Andrade \ Brody King \ Jake Hager etc etc style brawler. Likewise there's plenty of the PAC \ Dante Martin \ Bucks \ Darby Allin \ Lucha Bros etc high spot oriented guys. With Danielson out especially, it's refreshing to see someone with a bit of a different style.

Interestingly, it appears that the domain name for Sunaks  leadership bid was registered six months ago.

Where did you read that? Whois says it was registered last Wednesday:

  13. I'd never heard of Ospreay before this week and I've never seen any of his stuff. I also have no idea what he's been accused of outside of the ring. All of that aside, I think he's been brilliant since showing up in AEW. The three man tag on Rampage last week was great fun and setup a brilliant match on a Dynamite with Dax.
