This was taken from the DDT Digest "the final internet resting place of WCW apparently"It came from a review of the 2001 PPV,SIN.Gene talks to Steiner and his Ho Gene tries to stir up some dissension in the ranks. My Steiner-To-English translator is still in the shop so I just hear a lot of shouting. He said something about freaks and peaks...whatever

2 years later ...

I've just seen a youtube clip which reminded me of this old topic, so I thought I would bump it by adding the link:

Goldberg "changes the script"

This is the the last 10 minutes of an infamous match.

In the semi-main event of a live ppv (a 3 way between Kevin Nash, Goldberg, and Scott Steiner), pay particular attention from the 3 minute point onwards.

Nash is about to hit Goldberg with a powerbomb when Goldberg pushes Nash away, stops selling altogether, and walks back to the locker room.

Then the commentators spend the rest of the match pondering out loud "what are they going to do now? Improvise?!?" and when Steiner gets powerbombed to finish the match the commentators put over the heel Scott Steiner by saying how professional he was to allow Nash to powerbomb him.

Seriously, where the hell were they going to go with this storyline?

The funniest line of that whole feud was a sitdown interview with Goldberg in a coffee shop, where he came out with this glorious line: "Nash the only way you will beat me this Sunday is if you put your own ass on the booking committee".

WCW Thunder - Thursday, July 26, 2000:

Scott Hudson interview with Goldberg

About Scott Hall sacrificing for Goldberg's career, Goldberg says they were trying to bait him for the future.

Bill calls it ulterior motives.

Goldberg says Hall has no appreciation for the fans.

Goldberg says that Hall is a jerk inside the ring and a jerk outside the ring.

Bill says he doesn't like to be a heel and whether it was a good idea or not, he doesn't know.

Bill says that he never aspired to be a professional wrestler.

BIll says that he ended up turning into a fan of pro wrestling.

Goldberg says that he makes a difference here and didn't make one in the NFL.

Bill says that Kevin's right when he says he doesn't live and breathe this sport because he doesn't like a lot of people in the business.

But he loves to be able to go to see children who are four days away from dying and see a smile on their face. That is his way to pay his dues, not get $20 for making an indy appearance.

Bill flat out tells Nash to kiss his ass and says that jealousy is a bitch.

Bill calls him a joke.

Bill says that when he was in the NFL, Nash was in Europe holding hands with basketball players.

Bill: "Two weeks after you put your ass on the booking committee, you're the only one who beat me."

Goldberg says that he wants the belt on his waist but he wants him to pay for hurting his reputation.

Bill asks if a promoter is concerned if a main eventer has paid his bills.

A promoter thinks who can draw money and not who has paid his dues.

Goldberg brings up the 42,000 people at the Georgia Dome for Goldberg vs. Hogan.

Goldberg brings up Flair and Anderson, saying they made WCW.

Goldberg tells Nash the only way he's going to win the match is to put himself on the booking committee before New Blood Rising.

Goldberg says that Nash is going to get his ass kicked and he can't even run away on those bad knees of his.

Goldberg reminds him to have a lot of Advil by his bed as we go to commercial.

Stunning thread.

The Higher Power storyine (in WCW, obviously):

I remember seeing some of this when it was running, when a faceless character would talk to people in his booking room and make decisions for the night and such.

Does anyone remember where that lead to? VM initials, according to this thread...

Oh, and here's my contribution (from the Kevin Sullivan shoot interview, courtesy of http://thesmartmarks.com/old_site/artman/p...ticle_420.shtml

Why did he leave the business in the early 90's?

He had problems with Jim Herd (surprise, surprise... NO ONE got along with this asshole.) "I couldn't get along with a pizza guy who wanted Ric Flair to be Spartacus, he wanted a peg-legged wrestler, a hunchbacked wrestler, etc." As a joke, he told Herd that he'd wrestle the hunchback at an outdoor stadium, take him out of the ring, dig a hole, and stick his back in it so he could get the shoulders to the match. Herd's response was "GREAT, we'll do it at Turner Field!"and Sullivan was dumbfounded. "What the fuck was HE doing running a wrestling company?"
