Only a couple of months after his retirement as well. He'd been presenting Sounds Of The Seventies on Radio 2, but my earliest memories of him are when I'd be ill as a kid, and have the radio on quietly in the evening to try and get to sleep. Harry Wiseau Posted January 1, 2025 Posted January 1, 2025 I remember in 1999 when the News of the world did a big front page expose on Johnny Walker the bad boy of pirate radio for *shock* doing cocaine!!! It was a huge story for about two days and the general public consensus even then from his aging target audience seemed to be "and?" I think he was off the air for about two weeks then just returned with very little said (I may be slightly off about that, it was a while ago It is a shame, he was a proper radio person, so many radio hosts are just people who happen to be on the radio, then there's a few who are real radio people and he was definitely one of them.
