I played Pier Solar years ago when it got a release on PS4 or Wii U, I can’t remember which. I didn’t think a whole lot to it to be honest but I never committed to it much so maybe will revisit on the Mega Drive.

Never heard of Paprium but that screenshot looks really good, I’ll look it up.

The cartridge I have has Streets of Rage 2 Remake or something on, which is fantastic. Basically Streets of Rage 2 with loads of QoL improvements and extra characters.

Paprium has a fascinating history

Finally just had a quick go on Paprium, it was undumped for ages seeing as hardly anyone ever had a copy delivered (huge scam) and had some weird DRM on top. I didn't even know it was finally playable in an emulator until reminding myself to check up on it, it's fine I guess and plays like a straight up SoR clone but a tad clunkier, looks and sounds ace and it's amazing it ever ran on real hardware, I don't think it runs on EverDrives tho sadly.

While we're still talking about Mega Drive fighters, Yu Yu Hakusho by Treasure is where it's at for a very niche little Japan only game. Never watched the anime but loved playing it, especially the four player battle royale where you're all on screen together.

Being developed by Treasure it's going to be a very solid game but also a little unusual and inventive, it might just be the first game to have air combos and it's from 1994. Just overall feels very different to the usual Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat clones of the era, a great quirky alternative.
