It's less fondly remembered now, but when I was a young bright eyed wrestling fan in the early to mid 2000s WWE made it sound like the stuff of legend.  I was massively disappointed when I finally got hold of it, I actually found it really boring. I didn't know who the winner was so the match had that going for it, but even so I got no enjoyment out of it whatsoever.  I watched it back when it first happened. It was dull as hell then too. The way they presented it was so different from anything I'd seen I got really excited. The pictures told stories of dramatic blood soaked battles. Sadly it comes off better in pictures This sums up a good portion of ECW for me. I loved the reviews in Powerslam in the 90s, but the tapes never lived up to the excitement I got from the photos, for the most part anyway. Infact it has only been the clips or compilations that kept my interest for the most part.
