AshC Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Smackdown opened with Booker T in ring with Sheamus, Kane, Great Khali, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, and A.J. Booker spoke about the Elimination Chamber. Â Jack Swagger came out and wants in the Chamber match. Ziggler still has Money in the Bank, so he doesn't wanna be in Chamber. He threatened to cash in his MITB contract during WrestleMania. Booker announced Dolph would have to fight Alberto Del Rio tonight. Â 1. Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara defeated Kane and Daniel Bryan in a non-title match. Huge pop. Great work. Mysterio took a hot tag in to a 619 and a head butt off top rope for the hometown win. Kane and Bryan argued their way out of the arena. Â 2. Great Khali defeated Jinder Mahal. Â Booker and Teddy Long appeared on the screen from backstage. Sandow and Rhodes interrupted and said a poem. Sandow had to fight Sheamus. Booker said they go from Rhodes Scholars to Roadkill. Â 3. Sheamus fought Damien Sandow to an apparent no-contest. Sheamus delivered the forearms to the chest. The Shield came in. One of the Shield members took a Brogue Kick, but they ended up Triple Powerbombing Sheamus. No one came out to help. Sheamus walked off with the referee. Â 4. Randy Orton beat Wade Barrett in a non-title match. Â On screen, Barrett was about to be interviewed by Matt Striker asking about the Bo Dallas elimination in the Royal Rumble and the loss to him on Raw. Barrett didn't answer because he saw Dallas talking to some hot chicks. Barrett attacked Dallas. Â They have been showing Del Rio outside waiting for Big Show for what he did to Ricardo Rodriguez. Â Finally, Big Show arrived and Del Rio attacked him with a stick. Del Rio shouted in Spanish. Show yelled stop and did not fight back. Show jumped on top of a Crown Victoria car, which Del Rio basically tore up. Eventually, Show jumped into another car and drove away. Â Backstage, Del Rio told Ricardo Rodriguez, who wore a neck brace, not to come out for his match. Â 5. Alberto Del Rio defeated Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match. There were multiple near falls before Del Rio won by submission with the Cross Arm Breaker. During the Del Rio's celebration, Big Show appeared on the big screen and had Ricardo by the neck. Â Del Rio tried to leave the ring, but Show told him to stay there or he would hurt Ricardo. He warned Del Rio not to attack again. Show gave Del Rio the knockout punch. Del Rio ran to help and screamed in Spanish. Del Rio got a huge pop and was over with the Hispanic population in San Diego. Â After the cameras stopped rolling, Show came out in jeans and said "Boohoo, I hurt Ricardo Rodriguez." He said let that be a lesson to all the stars in the back and all the immigrants in attendance. He said he pays people like you to clean his pool and mow his lawn. He added that the current champion is nursing his burrito. Del Rio came out. Show told security to keep him away and said Del Rio is not worth of the belt or in his league. Â Security kept Del Rio at the bottom of the ramp. Del Rio ended up getting in the ring and was knocked down. Show grabbed a chair. Del Rio kicked Show and ended up with the chair. He struck Show multiple times. Show rolled out of the ring and ran aay. Del Rio's music played and he celebrated in the ring and shook hands at ringside to end the show.

PSF Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Would have put money on Swagger returning as a face to Challenge Cesaro at WM. After all the Anti American stuff, it would have fitted fairly well, their styles would have worked well together too.

The popular in India excuse must have some substance then...I mean they didnt keep Giant Gonzales around cause he was popular in Argentina... Â Anyway Im happy to see Swagger back, I really like him. The World Title picture is up in the air for Wrestlemania and I'd maybe like to see a Fatal 4 Way or something maybe to mix it up and make 'mania a little different.

Out of interest what do you like about him and why do you think he should be anywhere near the world title?

Hes pretty class in the ring but he's just waiting for a bit of character development to make him interesting and memorable. Just a bit of effort from wwe creative could help him.
PSF Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 So who doe's everyone see winning the Chamber? Its not clear in the results, but i assume this is for the No 1 contender for Mania? Â I'd say Kane vs Bryan at Mania is a lock. Khali doesn't stand a chance. Can't see a Sheamus/Del Rio match again. Swaggers not at the level. So that only leaves Orton although I had assumed he would have some involvement with the Shield at Mania. Maybe this is where we will see the heel turn?
DJM Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 There are rumours that WWE want to do Orton vs. Sheamus at Mania. So maybe Sheamus wins the chamber and Del Rio drops the belt to Orton sometime in the month after the chamber match, to set up Orton vs. Sheamus.

He could do more jobs between now and the cash-in and others will get the rub, but the moment he cashes in that's him set I think. The moment where he wins the belt will lock his main event position and put an end to the jobbing, at least in the short term.

He's way more important to them now he's the Mexican babyface. I think its 50/50 whether he'll lose his MITB case, depending on the mood they are in at the time.

Wether he wins the belt or even cashes in at that point is another matter, but Del Rio now being their prominent Mexican babyface as you say, I think by having him become the chaser rather than the Champion it will incline to get people behind him even more. The chase is better than the catch as they say.
