So did anybody bother with Lockdown then?

It was guff, up until the big two matches. The crowd were in to very little, which is surprising as they were out the Impact Zone.

Angle v Hardy was very good, both men had to kill themselves to get a reaction though. Jeff Hardy needs to get back to WWE fast, he's too good for TNA. Oh, Hardy won with a Swanton from the top of the cage.

They did a great job the last few weeks with Roode/Storm. The video packages/promos for during the show were top notch, shame the fans weren't arsed with the match. It was a good match, but the crowd didn't care. The finish reminded me of that Bobby Roode one from BFG, where they built him up to win only for Roode to fail in the end (only this time Storm was the one that lost). Not too arsed, Roode is great.

A few other things of note: RVD is 'fat', Mr. Anderson gave a performance Kelly Kelly would cringe at, Samoa Joe got a tan and a haircut(!), Taz and Tenay made me realise Booker T isn't that bad and Ryback makes Crimson wet the bed.

It was such a terrific card on paper. All of the matches had build and momentum, and some of them like Jeff Hardy vs Kurt Angle you just knew couldn't be awful.

As usual though Impact failed to deliver and instead put on a pretty average PPV. As you said, it was a shame the crowd were shit or it could have all came across better.

Spoilers for 19/4:

*Show begins with TNA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode coming to the ring. Roode has a brand new short haircut. Roode brags about beating James Storm at Lockdown and how Storm's superkick won him the match. Roode runs through all the guys he has beaten until he is interrupted by Mr. Anderson. Anderson tells Roode that he doesn't need a beer bottle to become champion. Roode laughs him off and tells him to get in line. Jeff Hardy then comes out and he wants a title shot too. Anderson tells him that he was out first as they start to argue. Hulk Hogan appears on the tron and says he wants to see all the champions in the ring later tonight. Hulk makes Hardy vs Anderson vs RVD for the #1 contendership.

*Bully Ray & Crimson def. Austin Aries & Matt Morgan when Bully pinned Aries via rollup with tights pulled.

*Garett Bischoff comes to the ring with AJ Styles, Mr. Anderson, and Rob Van Dam to celebrate their victory. AJ praises Garett for having guts at Lockdown. They get interrupted by Ric Flair. Flair says Eric Bischoff is responsible for all the talent in the ring. Flair calls them all punks and promises a party next week in tribute to Eric Bischoff. Flair says he's hosting the party, he's drinking at it, and the four in the ring are not invited.

*Kurt Angle def. AJ Styles via rollup after Daniels and Kazarian caused a distraction. Daniels had a paper with him which AJ grabbed. After the match, Angle told AJ that he had nothing to do with that as AJ put the paper in his tights.

*TNA Tag Champs Samoa Joe and Magnus, TV Champ Devon, Knockouts Champ Gail Kim, X Champ Austin Aries, and World Champ Bobby Roode come to the ring and are joined by Hulk Hogan. Hogan says change is in the air and next week change is coming. Hogan announces that once a month Impact will be Open Fight Night where a talent from outside TNA will come in and have a match. There will be three judges and Hogan to decide if the person gets hired. Hogan adds that also on Open Fight Night, anyone can come out and challenge anyone and whoever is challenged must come out and fight. Roode gets upset as Hulk says all champions must be ready to fight. Gail asks who decided this and Hogan says he did. Hulk wants to hear who the fans want to see. Devon talks about how he promised to be a fighting champion so Hogan announces that from now on the TV Championship will be defended on Impact every single week which Devon likes. Hulk finishes by saying that on Open Fight Night, everyone fights.

*Brooke Tessmacher, Tara, Mickie James, & Velvet Sky def. Gail Kim, Madison Rayne, Rosita, & Sarita when Tessmacher pinned Gail with a rollup

*Devon def. Gunner to retain the TV Championship

*James Storm comes to the ring and is sorry for losing. Storm talks about wanting to cause Roode pain. Storm talks about having to go home and tell his daughter that he lost. Storm says that Roode didn't beat him but he beat himself. Storm thanks the crowd and his dad for being his inspiration. Storm states that wrestling is what he loves but maybe his luck has ran out and then leaves.

*Rob Van Dam def. Jeff Hardy & Mr. Anderson to become the NEW #1 Contender to the TNA World Title when he reversed Hardy's twist of fate into a pin.

*Taped for Xplosion: Daniels def. Magnus via rollup after Kazarian distraction. They beat up Magnus after until Samoa Joe made the save.

That Open Fight Night deal sounds interesting. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Open Fight Night sounds like a good idea. I assume this will be the excuse to bulk up their roster a tad and to bring in some of the Ring Ka King talent. Should be fun.

Also, the TV title being defended every week is perfect.

While I like the idea of the TV title being defended every week on TV, I have no need to see a Devon match that often, unless it gets dumped to Xplosion. The sooner Robbie E gets his title back, the better.

Amazing that the AJ/Daniels feud is still rolling on... Ive always been a fan of AJ, but it really seems that they have no ideas at all for him now. He could probably do with a spell in Ring Ka King, or a regular tag partner to challenge Joe & Magnus. Anything to get him away from the mid/upper midcard singles bracket, as its too crowded as it stands

Indeed. That final spot was amazing as well, he didn't hold back one bit. As much of a phenomenon as he is, he still can't have too many bumps like that left in him, and it's a bit disappointing that he's wasting them in TNA when he really should be entertaining the masses on the biggest stage.

I'm pretty confident he'll be back in WWE when his contract expires. He's a genuine money maker that can work something resembling a busy schedule - there aren't many of them types about. WWE showed with Lesnar that they're willing to hand out mental deals, at the moment.

AJ said he would do this when it was renamed the TV title, so i'm not very hopfull in the long run. In the short term though, at least you may get a few new/half decent matchs on the go!

Watching Lockdown on Challenge

How the hell do you make a multiman cage match, with weapons so dull that it bores you to tears?

MCMG vs Joe/Magnus, elicited zilch reaction from anyone in the crowd, so much so I assume they were on Mogadon.

There were other matches including Crimson vs Morgan, Erm ODB and Eric Young and Gail Kim and Velvet Sky (she cant run ropes, can she?) and Devon vs Robbie E, which were there

Kurt vs Jeff was pretty good considering

Storm vs Roode seems okay from what's been on so far.

Disappointing PPV really. Nothing was completely awful, but none of it has really stood out either.
