ajmcstyles
Personally I would say Dan Henderson or Frankie Edger would be the fighter of the year, they fought with heart and passion while Jon fights with a major advantage. Basically Its like A heavyweight vs a middleweight when your facing jon jones. No question the most successful fighter of 2011 was jon jones. I don't mean to "flame" you but everything you've just said is a load of crap. I would go into more detail about how wrong you are but Kaz Hayashi has summed up my feelings perfectly.  Do you think GSP is not good because all he does is out wrestle his opponents and he wouldn't be able to do that to big heavyweights who are stronger than him? I dont think I explained myself clearly. When I mean Heavyweight Vs Middleweight I meant in terms of the Reach Jon Jones has over his opponents. Not weight sorry.  I was basically trying to ask a question since jon jones reach is SUCH an advantage to him in the LHW division when he does make the jump to heavyweight (which he said he would like to do in 3 years) how do you feel his chances stand there since his reach wont be such of an advantage?  As for the GSP comment GSP is a outstanding Mixed Martial Artist and hes proved himself time and time again no one could ever argue that point. GSP's game plan has always been to play it save and take it "steady" for 5 rounds and pull out the victory so he can preserve energy so he doesnt gas out which is incredibly smart. BUT say someone like Diaz will be pushing the pace alot faster than GSP is used could GSP handle it because hes never faced anyone like Diaz before. I believe Diaz will try and throw GSP off his game by avoiding the take downs forcing GSP to stand and trade with Diaz. But its a WHAT IF at the moment GSP is injured and Diaz has to go through Condit first two WW champions going head to head should be good.  My bad I do have a difficult time to explain stuff. the_mole
Denis Silver, Charles Oliveira & Cole Miller are dropping down to 145 in the near future, this should help the FW division.  Cole Miller-Steven Siler on FX 2  Charles Oliveira- Eric Wisely on Fox 2  also  Diaz-Condit will get the Primetime treatment on FX and as dumb as Nick Diaz comes across in interviews, he is still a very interesting character and has the potential to become a huge draw. Â Condit will be a bit like Cain, a tad boring. Â Diaz could either be mental or subdued. The UFC does a good job with Primetimes so I will look forward to it. I think Diaz will beat Condit, good style match up for Stocktons finest.

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 3, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted January 3, 2012 Argghh the picture has died on that stream for some reason, can still hear the commentary though. This Sakuraba match sounds good as wel Any other streams kicking about  Nevermind heres one http://www.firstrowsports.tv/watch/100270/...oshi-ishii.html  can anyone elaborate on what went down at the end of the Sakuraba match? there was some 'shoot' shit going down in there by the looks of things. It looks like Shibata and Sak were taking liberties with the tubby guy. The final choke was legit, tubby was tapping out but Sak just kept cranking it. You could tell by tubby's reaction that Sakuraba had not abided by the script. Anyone follow the pro wrestling over there and have any details on why this happened?  The actualy show was alright, i enjoyed a couple of the MMA fights. Always great to see Fedor win, Ishii had nothing for him. The Mixed rules fight ended up being the best fight of the night, last year's effort was a choke but this years fight was just insane, track it down.  I wanna see Bibiano Fernandez fight in the UFC. A lot of the Dream guys seem commited to the cause of there now but id love to see Fernandez going into the 135lb division with the UFC, he's a dangerous dude. Also Kawajiri at 145 is just a beast, i aint sure the UFC would touch him now that he got destroyed by Gilbert Melendez in Strikeforce but i'd love to see it. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted January 3, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted January 3, 2012 I missed the end of the Saku tag match cos my stream went. I'll look it up. I did see Le Banner battering Tim Sylvia in their 'pro wrestling' match though. In pro wrestling terms that was a total squash  I liked Aoki vs Kitaoka. The story going in made it seem like a bigger fight than it was. Then Kitaoka's madman eyes during the entrances. The first round was great stuff, really good grappling. It slowed down after that but I still enjoyed it. It was a gruelling, tough fight and Kitaoka showed a ton of heart to keep in there.   He survived some nasty submissions and the blood loss. Loved it.  Few other thoughts  Fedor knocked over Ishii with ease as expected.   It doesn't say a lot about where Fedor stands but it's just good to see him winning. The Monson win and now this are the kind of fights he needs at the minute.  I'd love to see Bibiano Fernandes in the UFC 135 division. Some potential for great fights there.  Kawajiri looked real good against Miyata. Much more one sided than I expected.  Sakurai/Chonan was a bit of a disappointment but the 3rd round was good. Mike Kogan on commentary can be a right miserable, negative fucker though. Seems to be whinging non-stop whenever I hear him.  And did anyone catch this?  Yusup Saadulaev's slam KO on Hideo Tokoro. This is the fight I'm most looking forward to in the next few months and whether you like him or not Diaz is one of the most interesting fighters in MMA. Primetime was becoming the GSP show mostly so I'm glad they're giving some other guys some of the limelight.
twelve_grand
Anyone know if Hideo Tokoro was/is okay? I heard a report he was taken to hospital - and given the Japanese system and lack of news that could either mean i) he's fine, ii) he's suffered career ending injuries, or iii) he's in a coma. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted January 3, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted January 3, 2012 Yeah I was looking that up. Couldn't find anymore info than you. I'd assume he's ok. If not I think news would have broke on the main sites by now. Â A couple of years ago when Overeem fought Fujita on New Years and KO'd him with a massive knee there was all kinds of rumours going around, even some saying Fujita was dead. It turned out Fujita was ok. Hopefully Tokoro is too.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 3, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted January 3, 2012 i remember the Fujita rumors. Â Yeh Tokoro's slam was nasty, the referee was sleeping on that he allowed Saadulaev to hit Tokoro a number of times before stepping in. Â The Kitaoka/Aoki match was one sided but the story behind it made it interesting. I honestly thought Kitaoka was going to land something insane at the end, i was just waiting for Aoki to drop when he was laying in them knees at the end but it wasn't to be. Â Japan loves their 'friends fighting friends' match-up's.
David
Has anyone been following the documentary series that Overeem puts on his website? The most recent episode covers the Lesnar fight, and I have to say, it's beautifully filmed. The black & white and choice of soundtrack most of the time is top class.
