War Machine TKO'd Roger Huerta in round 3 last night.

Good win for War Machine, bad for Huerta who's lost 5 of 6 now. Apparently Huerta came into the fight with broken ribs though.

I know a lot of people hate War Machine, but I think he's not as bad a guy as everyone likes to make out, and he's an exciting fighter too. I hope he works his way back into the UFC.

I recently re-watched Season 5 and it's clear in that season that War Machine is not playing with a full deck, i feel sorry for him because he clearly needs some help. There's a decent dude under it all he's just a guy who needs someone to look after him. Apparently he's got a girlfriend and stuff now, hopefully the prison sentence has straightened him out.

Does it really matter though? Thompson having another loss on his record isn't going to make the difference as far as him getting a call-up to the UFC anytime soon, is it? He took a freakshow fight against a guy who has had an entire Russian MMA organisation built around him.

You know that you either have to beat him comprehensively or stop him.

No doubt the decisions been changed due to the massive backlash of bad press for the company due to this decision. I guess that's the one thing about america having athletic commissions instead of appointing their own judges.

I wonder with this being ruled a no contest if it did indeed increase the money Thompson was due.

you can't blame Thompson for complaining can you? I wasn't aware of the 2 round thing when i watched it, so when the fight went to the judges i honestly thought it would be announced a draw (1 round each), the fact that Pudzianowski was given the decision made my jaw drop. I'd be interested to see how the scorecard error thing really happened, i don't see how a judge can give the wrong score when he was only scoring 2 rounds, clearly there was something dodgy at play. Thankfully they rectified it quickly.

Now, the way Thompson went about compaining was just ridiculous. It was pure pro-wrestling and what it did show was that James Thompson needs to stop fighting, he sounded punch-drunk, he's a guy that needs to be saved from himself. Jens Pulver made a case that even though he's losing, he's isnt getting hurt in his losses...James Thompson is the complete opposite, he takes severe punishment. More guts than brains, i'll even call myself a fan because he's entertained the fuck outta me over the years but he needs to pack it in.

One more thing, people argue why some fighters decide to stay and fight for KSW, and why someone like Fedor would chose to fight in Russia...you just need to take one look at the shows these guys put on. The KSW setup rivals Pride is it's scope, it's a Polish heavy promotion and favours the homegrown guys but them guys are treated like gods and they probably earn a hefty packet of cash. It's just came in that Fedor's fight with Jeff Monson came in with a 7.5 rating in his homeland too, massive audience. Some of these guys don't need to fight in America.

I should probably re-watch that season sometime, I can't remember a lot of it. He's been going out with some porn star woman who's name I can't remember since before he went to jail. He always refers to her as the wife, but I don't think he's actually married to her. His blogs and twitter comments don't seem to be anywhere near as mental as they used to be. I remember one time him going on about wanting to die in a knife fight before he had a mid life crisis. He's 30 today, and seems to be growing up.

Can't view the vid at work. Does it confirm if he'll fight before Silva's fit or hold out?

He says "I don't think I can talk too much about it, but lets just say I'll be watching Saturday's main event with alot of interest", pretty much insinuating that he'll fight the winner of Bisping/Miller - then the winner of that fighting Anderson.

Here's my updated top five fights of 2011:

1. Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard, UFC 125: Resolution

2. Eddie Alvarez vs. Michael Chandler, Bellator 58

3. Dan Henderson vs. Mauricio Rua, UFC 139: Shogun vs. Henderson

4. Benson Henderson vs. Clay Guida, UFC on Fox 1

5. Nick Diaz vs. Paul Daley, Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley

I'm happy with my list as of right now. I expect I'm in the minority now who rates Edgar/Maynard II as 2011's Fight of the Year.

It's been a fantastic year for UFC and the MMA. Good luck to the UFC picking the best fights for it's annual Best of year collections.

Haha yeah if I was choosing the 2011 Best Of I'd need at least a 4 discer.

My top 5 (so far)

1 - Dan Henderson vs Shogun Rua (UFC 139)

2 - Eddie Alvarez vs Michael Chandler (Bellator 58)

3 - Frankie Edgar vs Gray Maynard 2 (UFC 125)

4 - Ben Henderson vs Clay Guida (UFC on FOX 1)

5 - Nick Diaz vs BJ Penn (UFC 137)

When I can't even put fights like Diaz/Daley, Edgar/Maynard 3, Faber/Cruz 2, Aldo/Hominick and Sanchez/Kampmann in my top 5, fuck what a year. I don't remember another year with as many awesome fights. 2007 was pretty nuts but 2011 topped it easily for me.

And there's still fights like Jones vs Machida, Hominick vs Korean Zombie, Lesnar vs Overeem and Cerrone vs Nate Diaz to name a few that could potentially be amazing fights.

Looking at our top five lists, we have the same top three but my #1 is your number #3 and my #3 is your #1. We share four fights but differ on the fifth. Nice to see we're on the same lines for the most part ;).

Taking a quick glance at the results, there is nothing I disagree with. The right winners won the Fighter of the Year, Fight of the Year, Knockout of the Year and Submission of the Year. Sam Stout's brutal KO of Yves Edwards at UFC 131: dos Santos vs. Carwin should have made the Knockout of the Year shortlist.
