Max Power
I know its been said, but Hussey was incredible. Â I poo pooed that tournament earlier on, but I think its been more or less spot on. 2 games a day, no fucking about with meaningless matches between nobodies, and most of the games have been pretty even. Very enjoyable. Â Anyone playing today? My side are away at Barnsley in the Premier League, so no doubt i'll get belted all over.
Yoghurt
The two best sides made the final, and the best side won. Â Imperious performance, beating an in form Australia by 3 overs in a final, it doesn't get much better. England won an electric game, and won it very comfortably, very happy right now. Paid Members MoChatra Posted May 16, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted May 16, 2010 That was a great performance. My enjoyment was slightly tempered by the fact the batting was led and dominated by a trio of South Africans, but still, England won! It's always great to see the Aussies get stuffed, so it made the result even sweeter. Â Expect politicians to take credit for the result within the next 24 hours. Ok that ones a bit a odd, but I have no issues with the other two being regarded as "English" and playing for England.
Yoghurt
I do feel racial overtones whenever someone mentions the Nationality of players all the time, it tends to be brought up when England win, the team and country where they all live, are citizens and have chosen to play for under the legal system of the country, recognised by every ICC body and government in the world, and play mightily they do. Â Â Â And yes, I am implying what you think I am.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 23, 2010 Author Paid Members Share Posted July 23, 2010 Looks like the Ashes are staying on Sky. Â Personally I'm delighted. Sky are fantastic at cricket coverage and I think taking it off them and giving back to the BBC, who would probably bring on board fucking Mark Nicholas or something. And that would be shite. Really, what they should do is make sure the highlights packages on terrestrial are more detailed and in better timeslots because they're currently bollocks. Would have loved to have heard Richie and Michael Holding in the commentary box together - most laid back commentary duo EVER.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted July 24, 2010 Moderators Share Posted July 24, 2010 (edited) Boycott's hatred of a decent run rate and lofted shots wins it for me. And BBC's coverage would be worse than Mark Nicholas. It'd be presented by Hazel Irvine or *Shudder* Craig Doyle because they went to a game of Twent- Â LET'S GO TO THE 4:10 AT CHEPSTOW! Â Â Â Â Anyway, Shane Warne is better than Murali! Edited July 24, 2010 by ButchReedMark

A good way to troll is to go to YouTube, find any of his videos, and just write "NO BALL!" as a comment. The Sri Lankans go fucking nuts. Great fun. Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 29, 2010 Author Paid Members Share Posted July 29, 2010 1st test against Pakistan starting this morning. England win the toss and bat, and have gone with 4 bowlers again. No surprises, I think they will keep doing that until Australia where they will do exactly the same.  I just think Strauss and Flower are a more defensive management than Fletcher and Vaughan. I'd like to see them play 5 bowlers and use Adil Rashid as a genuine all-rounder, which he is, but I doubt it will ever happen.
Harvey Dent
Who would you play Rashid instead of then? Morgan? I haven't seen the pitch or conditions, but i'd imagine we don't need 2 spinners at all and I certainly wouldn't drop Graeme Swann. Â I'm pretty happy with our team, we're definatly on the up in all formats which is nice to see.

I'm pretty happy with our team, we're definatly on the up in all formats which is nice to see.  I just think the way pitches are generally going that having two spinners is the way to go. You should not need six specialist batsmen unless they are conditions that are genuinely going to aid bowlers. England have been looking for a genuine all-rounder and Rashid is that man, I think. He could bat at number 7 and make plenty of runs there, and backed up by Swann and Broad at 8 and 9, England have more than enough batting there. England would still have the three seamers as well. Moderators PowerButchi Posted July 29, 2010 Moderators Share Posted July 29, 2010 We need a return of Sunstroke afflicted coke dealer Chris Lewis to have a true world class All-Rounder.  In all seriousness though, we've not had an abundance of top All-Rounders in the past 20 years. There's Flintoff, and I'd argue a bit for Craig White, but otherwise we've relied on what I'd consider more Batsman who were decent Bowlers like Butcher, Collingwood and the Hickster, or utter toss like the aforementioned Chris Lewis and the Hollioakes. Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 29, 2010 Author Paid Members Share Posted July 29, 2010 I agree. But even if we don't play Rashid, look at the amount of bowlers we have got who are really decent batsmen that are there or thereabouts around the squad - Swann, Broad, Plunkett, Bresnan, Shahzad, Woakes and injured guys like Kabir Ali and Jordan. Pick three of them at 7, 8 and 9 and I don't think we need a genuine all-rounder. The thing about Rashid is that he has better first class figures as a batsman and bowler than I think Flintoff ever had. We're a bit allergic to playing two spinners over here, and this pitch at Trent Bridge is already turning.  Chris Lewis had all the talent really - he was quick, a good batsman and a fantastic fielder. Of course, you know you're dealing with an utter plank when he shaves all his hair off and stands in the field for 7 hours without a hat on.
