  1. As far as I’m concerned today is Christmas Eve and I am ridiculously excited for this trailer to land tomorrow!

I remember setting a tiny box TV up at the end of our dining room in about 1999 and playing the first GTA, GTA London and GTA 2

In 2001 I went over to my cousin Chunk’s house as often as possible and stood in awe as I watched him play GTA 3 for hours.

Bunking off school and going to my mate Ian’s house to take it in turns driving round Vice City

Dragging my step mum to HMV to be my ID so I could buy San Andreas (and joining my first ever forum - GTPlanet!)

Playing GTA IV every spare minute my baby was asleep and being blown away by the multiplayer. Doing multiplayer GTA races with my brother over Xbox live - racing at the airport in fire engines and blocking the road off together to cause carnage, absolutely brilliant

Booking two days off for GTA V and my wife bringing me meals and drinks like Cartman when he’s playing World of Warcraft. True love!

This game series is part of me and always will be. It’s my comfort. Playing through VC and SA during the pandemic kept me sane

My brother passed in May so this will be the first one without him and that sucks. I wish he was here as we would be absolutely buzzing with excitement together right now, but I know he’ll be watching when I pick up that controller whenever the game is released!

So c’mon Rockstar bring it on!!! My expectations are Sky high especially if the rumoured $1 billion budget is true (and some reports say it could even be as high as $2 billion!). I’ve spent hours today looking at fan theories and map predictions. I’m already so far in and we haven’t seen anything yet. Roll on tomorrow!!!

I have an ongoing list I keep of all AEW champions and title defences and now I've typed that down I realise it might be the most tragic thing I've ever wrote.

Do you rank every match you watch as well or is that just me đź«Ł

  3. I’m a spreadsheet man and keep spreadsheets to catalogue everything - tv shows and films, books, football matches watched, grounds visited, walks taken, bike rides, weight tracking, wrestling matches, what’s in the loft, money stuff, house stuff, pension pots even one for what different Mountain Dew’s I’ve tried. It’s weird and I don’t know why I do it. I even had a list of what spreadsheets I ran but that was OTT.

They start really detailed, for example my tv show one used to breakdown each individual episode but then I tend to simplify them. Also some have now migrated to apps like Letterboxd for example.

It’s rubbed off on my daughter aswell, I walked in to her playroom the other day and she’s written a list of everything in there

  4. I was not a fan of the main event but absolutely loved everything else on this show

I echo what everyone else said about the death match. Without a doubt the match of the year, and honesty if Brian Cage hadn’t come out and got involved it may have been the best wrestling match ever for me. I don’t remember being that invested in a match before and screamed out loud when that barbed wire got caught on Hangman’s face. Swerve is the man and hopefully they strap a rocket to him now!

  5. A couple of years ago I saw the Mark Kermode interview with Werner Herzog when he gets shot and says “it’s not significant”. Since then his name has always stuck out to me and if I see him in an interview I’ll watch it and enjoy his answers.

When Pat mentioned in the books thread that Herzog had an autobiography out I went to Audible and downloaded the audiobook.

I’m so glad I did, it’s Incredible. Im only a few chapters in now but already so many highlights. It goes from poignancy to mysterious to batshit in the same paragraph. I love his voice too, slow and soothing and you find yourself hanging on the end of his words waiting for the next. Check it out. Here was a highlight in chapter 2 -

I've asked how much and I've emailed Snackd to see if they can source them.

I'm not asking Snackverse (formerly Snack Surprise) on account of them being utter pricks. I'm thoughtful, but I'm also principled :)

Let me know how much and I’ll see if I can help you out!

Yeah I had to knock Snack Surprise on the head a while back. The product was amazing but service absolutely shocking. Is Snakd a similar thing?

  7. How much is a pallet?!

If you haven’t already it may be worth asking Snackverse or whatever they’re called to see if they have any of the Romania boxes left you can buy?

  8. A few outlets are reporting that GTA 6 will be officially announced this week with a trailer next month. I hope it’s true but it wouldn’t surprise me if Rockstar milk GTA V for another 10 years!

I love how GTA has grown outwards in so may directions with each release so I’m really excited to see what boundaries they’ve pushed this time round.

I hope we don’t have to wait too much longer. V trailer was released Nov 11 but the game didn’t arrive until Sept 13. RDR2 trailer Oct 2016 with game coming out 2 years later Oct 2018. Let’s hope they do a Fallout 4 and say here’s a trailer and it will be out in a few months!

  9. Leo (2023)

A couple of weeks ago my wife and daughter went to Odeon to watch Eras Tour and I went next door to experience some Tamil cinema on the big screen for the first time.

I was the only white guy in a pretty packed screen and I think I had the most fun!

The film opens with our hero catching a rabid hyena in a beautiful northern India. He takes the hyena home and goes back to work at his coffee shop. Then, after various dramatic twist and turns, he has to kill a load of people to save his family. The highlight was when the hyena (who hadn’t been seen for 2 hours) comes out to help at the end and the cinema erupted! The only time I’ve experienced that before was when Captain America grabbed Thor’s hammer in Avengers. I don’t think this is one of the best Tamil films ever so I imagine the vibe on a really great film must be incredible at the cinema.

The other thing I noticed is where they spent money seemed strange. There was a scene of a child’s sport day, that must have had over a hundred extras and taken ages to set everything up. The scene lasted maybe 10 seconds out of 2hrs 45 mins. Yet a fairly basic car crash which was integral to the plot was completely CGI.

It was also cut to pieces which was strange, must be a rating thing. The hero would be pointing a gun at a bad guy and then CUT and there’s a dead guy on the floor with our hero moving on to the next jabroni.

    And there was an interval!

So yeah, fun film with a great atmosphere. I think all films should have an inexplicably big and over the top dance scene just for the craic. Highly recommended 👍🏻

  10. My nephew is obsessed with Seven Nation Army so I’m going to learn that and the chords previously mentioned

Bearing in mind I’m half an hour into this journey - can you listen to this - that squeak where my finger is going up and down the string is that normal? It sounds really loud to me. Also what causes the vibration sound? Is it not pressing hard enough on the string? Finger in wrong place?

i also think I’ve fucked the tuning as well, as the top string seems a lot tighter then the second string! I think I need lessons just to start me off with all this stuff

  11. There’s one moment in Raw (and if you’ve seen it you know exactly what I’m talking about) which is one of the most stomach churning things I’ve seen. Great film but that moment was hard to watch!

I’ve never seen a Saw film, are they any good? I see there’s a new one at cinemas that I might check out

  12. Like a load of other middle aged white men i've bought an acoustic guitar and want to learn to play. I'm addicted to screens / social media and I want something worthwhile to focus on!

So does anyone here have any recommendations of best way to learn? My instinct is to watch Youtube tutorials of songs and repeat, but would you recommend something else? Are there good books or anything like that? I'm not in a position to pay for actual lessons yet but maybe next year

  13. Yeah the company must have a Director or it’s in breach of Companies Act. Looks like the company already has a CCJ against it for £1,045 as well.

He’s already got another company set up and ready to go, One Fall Ltd which was set up in January. The show must go on!

I don't know anything about them but there is a show in Bracknell on Friday night on Eventbrite. Claims to be a Family show.

Thank you for this! Bracknell is a bit far but it did lead me to something else a lot closer to home, nice one!

Get a log burner to burn logs.

This is me too. My worst ever dating disaster was about 15 years ago. A woman invited me over while she was house sitting this big house and asked me to get the open fire going. I tried for about 10 minutes to get the fucking thing lit but couldn’t get close. I bailed while she was in the bath and she never text me again.

It's also that liminal area where sleep paralysis happens - you dream that you wake up but can't move.  You can't move because you're still asleep but it feels completely like being awake and once you ARE awake it's hard to understand that is WASN'T real.  You can also hallucinate during that time and it can be terrifying.

I’ve had this forever and it happens a couple of times a month. I’ve got to the point where I know what’s happening and know to scream out which wakes my wife up who then wakes me up fully and it’s all good. So what is actually happening? I’m dreaming that I’m awake but still manage to call out in the dream?

It was terrifying as a kid as you just had to sit it out. And sometimes like you said you would hallucinate. I used to see people walking up the stairs towards me and all I could do was lie there.

  17. Anyone here live in the US? I think Neil does, maybe others?

I just wondered how you’re finding it at the moment? A mate of mine who’s lived there 15 years is over here at the moment and sorting things out to come back permanently. He says it’s horrible over there now, divide between blue and red is getting bigger and he’s scared for the future. He reckons everyone is buying guns and fears a civil war is coming!

He’s prone to a bit of hyperbole so I’m just interested to know if he’s talking shit or not
