  1. Man with netflix series to promote blasts former company. Its pro wrestling 101. All them goths that complained he's not been used right by Disney will be getting some 5 star classics.*

*probably just Helena Bonam Carter in a weird wig.

Harrison Ford has been cast as General Ross for the upcoming Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts films.

Im surprised he’s done it considering he absolutely hates Star Wars asking him questions about the franchise, he’s in for a whole new level of it now

He'll be 82 by the time the first film comes out. Imagine losing an actor and recasting him even older.

Saying that. Grumpy Harrison Ford getting pissed off in front of a greenscreen then getting annoyed at fans may be my new fav thing

I went to see The Lemonheads tonight and it was by far the worst gig I have ever been to. Evan Dando is not in a good way. His management should be ashamed for putting him on the stage. His voice was shot, he would ramble on and constantly tune his guitar mid-song. It was such an awful sight. At least most fans were polite enough to not heckle him. What makes it even sadder that you could tell he knew it was rotten, but there's nothing he could have done to salvage it.

My friend is in a band and they supported Evan Dando years ago* and we went to the gig. He shuffled out didn't look up from his songbook the entire time, zero interaction with the crowd and was totally out of it.

I saw him at Glastonbury the year after and it was night and day with him pissing about and enjoying himself and performing really well. I think he's a casualty of whatever he was on during his peak and its 50/50 what version you'll get, sadly.

*I only mention this because I found out that his rider for the gig was 6 cans of premium larger and a cheese board, neither of which he touched and the cheeseboard was stolen by the opening act.

  4. It got me badly the first time I watched it and my gf, who only knew him from Harry Potter fully lost it when this came on the documentary. Just a wonderful moment and a goodbye to a franchise.

I think for people our age he means something different to people who (rightfully) love him for Harry Potter.

He was part of the older comic strip presents stuff and was always a comedy actor in my eyes and Nuns on the run seemed to be a far bigger deal in my memory than it actually was. Then he managed to reinvent himself, not only as a serious actor but full on top tier with Cracker. Then he gets to do it again and becomes the friendly face for a whole generation, something he seemed to love.

The New Zealand Story was on pretty much every console and computer ever made at one point, it was such a hit despite not being that amazing.

One truly great platformer that only ever got released in PAL territories was the first Asterix on the Master System, probably due to the comics not being popular elsewhere stopped a worldwide release but the game was up there with the Mickey Mouse platformers on the same console.

The Asterix side scrolling arcade game had some of the best character graphics and animation of its time. I think it was a Konami game so probably didn't get the recognition of a Capcom game with the bigger licences.

  6. John Carpenter has been a cranky old man since he was in his 30s and I'm all for it. Him telling people to fuck off in Q and As when they try and slag off Escape from LA will never not be funny.

Went to see Smile on Monday and it's horseshit. Every single scare is an attempt at a very lazy jumpscare ( the laziest of all editing) it plods along, filling its time with 1 note characters. There could have been a great indie film in there about trauma but it really doesn't know which way it wants to go and the pacing is painful.

  7. She hulk and the mention of the ropey CGI in Black Panther are a good reminder that Marvel are terrible for (amongst other things) 2 things: giving horrendously  unreachable deadlines to effects houses and farming effects out to as many companies as they can to meet the release date.

Black Panther has some stunning CGI in it, it also has that end fight in the vibranium train track that looks like a shit cutscene from a ps3 game, where they forgot about physics and weight. I’m sure Corridor Crew have done at least one video on it and the actual effects company have spoken out about it.

She Hulk has the same problem. Everything that is office based looks like shit and there a scene where she walks into the room like a Sim. Compare it to the CGI in the awards gala and it’s night and day (literally if you want to talk about CGI lighting).

There’s actually CGI firms actively boycotting Disney at the minute due to their shitty treatment of effects houses, which will probably end up with them creating more in house teams so they can treat them like shit in private.

Moving away from that, She Hulk

    Spoiler

is the closest thing we’ve actually got to the lower stakes marvel comics with its stupid side plots, no stakes team ups and 4th wall breaks and I love it. The fact they have made irrational incel hate of the character a plot point is a huge swing for them and using slut shaming and revenge porn in the episode they finally use Daredevil which will have most eyes on it is a bold move.

and non spoilers for Werewolf by night

i loved it. Enough little throwbacks to the hammer and universal films. It felt different from anything else marvel have done. People will argue that Black Panther is different to Dr Strange etc but they are all built on the same template, as mentioned above.  Everything about this from the pace to the script, and that score was deliberately different and I’d happily watch 100 of these as experiments. An actual 70s blaxploitation style Luke Cage, a Shaw Brothers style Iron Fist. Lower budget, lower stakesAll sitting outside of the films as one and dones  with the chance of wrapping the characters into the films if they want.

  8. According to his tweets from when Disney bought Fox, Reynolds said the original plan was for a road movie with Deadpool and Wolverine told from different perspectives, Rashomon style. I'd be all up for that as long as they reign it in a bit, giving the Director and star too much freedom gave us Love and Thunder which was too much. Just let them chuck a load of fan casting in it, give a load of existing Xmen actors a proper goodbye and have some OTT comicbook violence and I'll be a happy man.

It's a really good film overall as well. Just takes the bits of The Exorcist it wants and does its own thing. There's a brilliant tribute to this scene in a shitty (but fun) horror film from a couple of years ago called The Drone.

If there had been no shitty Exorcist 2 then I 100% believe that it would be spoken about in a similar way to Alien / Aliens in the great sequels that mixed things up.

  11. Just finished it now. Some of the writing may be the worst for a mainstream show on Netflix, which is saying something. I've seen people online try and add subtext and depth but when it was bad, it was very bad.

The kids seem to take a backseat this season, they were barely in it.

Also Stingray needs to fuck off.

Disappointing series with a few great moments.
