  1. He's already filmed a few episodes of the next Loki TV series and is contracted for at least another 3 films over the next five years. They are actively building literally every film around him for the next phase of Marvel so if its true then shit is going to hit the fan.

It'll be telling how many people come out in support of him over the next few days

  2. from the BBC article about it

    Quote

The new series will see actor Rob Reiner, his wife and actress Michelle Reiner, director and producer Matthew George and Derrick Rossi all act as executive producers.

Let's just ignore the 40 years of quality film making from Reiner because he used to be in All In The Family

The only thing that dates it more to the mid-00s than anything earlier is the crowbarring in of Knights Templar conspiracies, because they really seemed to go mainstream around that time, what with the Da Vinci Code and everything.

My favourite crowbarring in of a historical fact was when they're in the tower at Independence Hall, Riley asks, "what bell is this?", so Nicolas Cage can explain it. Irrelevant to the plot, and an insane thing to think a real human person would say at that precise moment.

That and the explanation of the introduction of daylight savings times.

I 100% blame the Broken Sword games for Templar stuff going mainstream

  4. National Treasure is a delight and is a real throwback to the sort of Sunday afternoon adventure films that Disney was churning out all the time in the 70s and 80s

The shoe horning in of historical facts is hilarious and very American and always seems like it was inserted into the script with a find and replace the day of filming to qualify for educational grant money 'these are Ben Franklin's underpants that he wore on that faithful night. These are freemason skids!'

  5. I'm so torn on this version of the bluray. The remastered footage is amazing, the film footage is superb but why they felt, in 2016 to release a pan and scan version and zoom into the footage is beyond me. Some of it is fine, the top of a head chopped off here or there but there is some horrendous choices made with some of the footage. Flashbacks to Dogshit pan and scan versions of films from the 80s and 90s

Seeing John Mulaney tonight. I saw him in 2015. A lot has happened between then and now, let's hope he's stayed funny.

Saw him last night. Starts with a totally different energy to his other shows but I loved it. Only complaint was it's not the longest set in the world.

Ooh, the idea of replicating stuff like this isn't something I'd thought of - that sounds like a lot of fun.

It was stressful because I had to be packed up and gone within 2 hours of arriving but actually figuring out not only how they did it but how I could get close to it has always been a lot of fun.

I really wish I'd taken a reverse shot to show the mass of cards, masking tape and v flats that I had to make it look like a single ray of light and a candle

  8. I've never seen praise for a company so quickly shift to universal hate. The new owners of the company have well and truly shafted themselves

Don't think I posted when I did it but ended up doing some single scene showreel pieces for an actor I know, and one of them he wanted was the Kurtz scene from Apocalypse Now.

First time I've really had to push low light noise on the Black Magic and I was blown away. Also trying to replicate the lighting, specifically the falloff in a 5ft sq studio was not fun.

It's a shame Netflix or someone don't throw money at him. In a world where you know he finds his audience on home video surely the streaming era makes you a hot property. Not to mention John Carpenter is as revered as anyone by horror fans. They could shout that they had the great John Carpenter from the roof tops.

He seems content that he can make a living with his music now but He loves a horror anthology and has done a fair few in his time. I'd love for him to do an episode for season 2 of Cabinet of curiosities or for another streaming series to pick up the Master of Horror title.

I love it. Did you get this off that joy site? Very nice.

Yep. Got 3 sets from Joy to do over Christmas. Arrived in 10 days and that was with the postal strikes, although I know a few people that had to wait an extra 3 weeks because of the chaos at Heathrow with postal backlogs.

It's a huge set and I would have got the genuine one if I could afford it but this was £250 cheaper.

It's almost 1:1 with the lego set with a few smaller pieces swapped out like shields and slight variations on the minifigs (and bizarrely swapping a cow for a reindeer!) but the actual build is identical.

The biggest issue is proving that it belongs in the living room and not, as my girlfriend insists, 'out of her fucking way!'
