  1. Bacon, it's fine if the reason we're not bringing in players is the stadium build. But what that means is that Levy directly lied to the supporters. He didnt need to do so, but he did. And I also think people who've spent over a grand on a season ticket have every right to question our transfer policy. You say, "that's the policy, deal with it" as if fans who help fund the club in gate receipts, merchandising and everything else have no right to question that policy.

TDK: no European football is a stretch. It's just that it might be Thursday night Euripean football. Don't get me wrong, if we have a wonderfully successful season, I'll be happy to eat humble pie. But I just don't see it.

As long as we finish above Wolves, it'll have been a great season! /s

  2. Dick move from Punk but barely surprising since Punk has always been a dickheaded, self-involved, self-centered, narcissistic arsehole. I bet it eats him up inside that his UFC "career" flopped so quickly and easily and he's a moron for leaving the kind of money WWE would give him to come back for a Wrestlemania run on the table. All in all, he seems like somebody it would suck to be friends with.

Dutch football really has gone to shit hasn't it, it's such a shame. The Eredivisie is ranked so low in UEFA coefficient compared to years ago. The thing is, I don't even think this is a blip- I can't see them coming close to the likes of Turkish or Russian teams for the foreseeable future.

I do love signing a centre a back from Ajax though. Always works well for us.

Tomorrow night at 9pm on Sky I have the choice of watching either a La Liga or an MLS game. I kind of want to (and have in the past - go Timbers!) get into watching MLS, so will probably go with that.

They've got Wanyama, Dembele and Dier in central midfield. Rose and Davies at LB. You're talking £20m+ to marginally improve. I genuinely think they're the only club who get that. Obviously Levy is tighter than a gnat's chuff but he's not stupid. If it continues window on window when players get older and complacent then fine, criticise. But not spending for spending's sake for one window is sensible.

They can improve by improving players too and learning from previous mistake. They have half a squad who are peak age to do that. Remember when that used to be how football worked?

Poch doesn't seem to rate Wanyama anymore, Dembele's legs have gone and it's not nailed on that Harry Winks is actually good enough to fill those boots just yet, and Eric Dier is highly overrated (and in ny opinion we should have sold him to United for the boatload of cash they would have paid for him when we had the chance).

I like Ben Davies and Danny Rose but Rose is probably going to find himself frozen out again this season because of his attitude during last year's pre season. Ben Davies is good, but not title winning good. On the right hand side we have Trippier and Aurier. We can probably get by with those two, with Aurier playing second fiddle to Trips (unless he shows some serious improvement in his decision making and learns how to operate as a good defender in a wing back role). Our central defenders are probably the best in the country,, that I'll concede.

Dele Allli is great on his day, but his days are not consistent enough yet. Eriksen is great, Son is good although I  believe we could easily improve on him. We didnt see much of Lucas Moura last season, but I was excited by what I did and hope he will be a first team regular this year. Kane of course is great, but we have  nobody that can produce anywhere near his level of end product should he get injured or need a rest. We we lack really anyone off the bench that can come on and change a game for us.

So there you have it: at least three positions in our first team that could be improved upon, and that's without even making improvements to squad players.

Hey, I'll be overjoyed if we can win the title with the squad we have, utilising some of the likes of Amos, Kyle Walker-Peters, Josh Onomah and others. That would be wonderful - but so would winning the lottery and the odds of that happening are better than the odds of us winning the title this year.

  5. I've ordered the lite version of Wrestle Crate (£11.99 a month) with a code for an extra t-shirt included (apparently, every month there is a t-shirt, just this first month I'll get two.) I'll see what I get before deciding on retaining the subscription. Given the demographic I imagine most people who sub to Wrestle Crate are in, I'm worried I'm going to get two t-shirts based on women wrestlers - they're also threatening something from Johnny Impact being in this month's crate, so probably that's one of the shirts.

Or maybe he just didn't want to waste money on unnecessary signings? No point in just signing people for the sake of it. The fact that we were only really linked with one player all summer speaks volumes to me.

Yes, some teams have improved, but we should be happy with what we've got, Sissoko aside.

We do not have the squad depth in terms of talent on the bench (and, debatable maybe, in some of our first XI positions) to mount a serious title challenge, let alone fight on multiple fronts in Europe and domestic cups.

I get that we have basically a £1bn stadium to pay for but Levy himself said that the stadium build wouldn't affect player transfers. I guess what he meant by that was that there wouldn't be any players transferred in.

I am happy with how we've progressed from where we were under Sherwood to where we are now but the detractors who say, well, they've won fuck all have a point. And if Levy/Lewis are either unwilling or unable to invest in the squad where it's needed so that we can compete, they need to accept that and sell the club. Spurs are a highly attractive proposition for anyone with deep pockets and an itch to win some league and European titles.

Liverpool are the best example right now of a club who, similarly to Spurs, brought in a highly regarded manager who built a good, solid side that just fell short of winning the Champions League at the final hurdle. So what did they do? They didn't rest on their laurels. They've went out and got business done that most likely now has them as the team within touching distance of City. What did we do when we've just fallen short a few seasons in a row? Fuck all and apparently starting Luke Amos on Saturday.

There comes a point where "Hey, we're just happy to be here" (the Champions League, top three) isn't enough any more. Poch asked the club to be bold and take risks. Well, they've certainly risked a shit load by doing nothing in this window. It's not good enough. It's not Levy Out time just yet, but we aren't far away.

When will Jose fuck off?: November, and Poch will replace him.

    1

This honestly would not surprise me. I can't believe that Poch isn't pretty pissed off that we haven't brought anybody in during the window. It's all speculation, but most people reckoned he signed that new deal in May because he believed or was assured the club was going to enter the market early and decisively.

I really feel like this is going to be a painful season for Spurs.

WrestleCrate is good if you're into your BritWres, as it's mainly focused on that. They get Defract to do stuff pretty regularly for it, and his art stuff is always a highlight (He also makes a boatload of fantastic CAW's for the 2K games).

I am not into Britwres at all - is there some other crate option for those of us who like our wrestling American and generally at least 20 years old?

  9. Top Six : City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, United, Spurs.

Relegated: Cardiff, Huddersfield, Burnley (Joe Hart signals their end is nigh)

    Champions League: Juventus

    Top Scorer: Aubameyang

Player of the season: Mo Salah

Young player of the season: Ryan Sessegnon

    Best signing: Yerry Mina

    Biggest flop: Firmino Fabinho

First sacking: Jose Mourinho (not for reasons to do with how the team are playing, just because he's got his usual pre-leaving a club hump on)

    Surprise package: Fulham

When will Jose fuck off?: Before Christmas.

  10. I was looking at WrestleCrate, Pro Wrestling Crate, Highspots Box, Pro Wrestling Tees etc today, considering signing up to one of the crate services. Anyone recommend anyone in particular or if they're worth it?

I did, however, buy one of these, which I'm really pleased with. I don't have really any wrestling memorabilia at all, yet I've been a fan - lapsed or otherwise - for most of my life. I'm still pissed as all hell that I can't find my Ric Flair signed cover of WCW Magazine where he's on the cover as President of WCW.

If you can't be bothered to click the link: "The ‘Bad Guy’ made his one and only Wrestle Crate appearance ever in January 2018, with this stunning hand-signed print. Artwork designed exclusively for Wrestle Crate by Defract, and hand-signed by Razor Ramon during the Norwich leg of his recent UK tour. We have a few left over, so grab one while you still can, chico."

At that price, I had to have it. Looks A4 to me, will need to get a slim frame to hang it in my study! I was also looking at the signed Ric Flair print they've got in their 'second chance' section but Ric Flair, unlike Scott Hall, isn't my favourite wrestler of all time since I was a kid and I can't really justify buying two pro-wrestling related items in a month!

  11. I'm also getting sick of them hyping this Starrcast event by saying stuff like, "the recommended retail price for all this content is over 300 dollars but you can get it right now for just 70 dollars." How have they worked out the RRP for a bunch of panels and podcasts? The all access pass must not be selling too well since they dropped the price by like 50 dollars.

  12. Unless Levy pulls some rabbits out of some hats incredibly quickly, I think I may finally be turning against the ownership.

Don't get me wrong, Levy, with Joe Lewis's money, has been a good steward for the club following the debacles of Irving Scholar and Alan Sugar but once the stadium is complete it seems to me that it's about time, if they are unwilling or unable to really, properly spend the kind of money a Premier League club needs to spend to win titles, they should go ahead and sell up to the wealthiest Russian oligarch or billionaire Sheik or Chinese dude that wants to own a London based Premier League club with a brand new, state of the art stadium and all the cheese that comes along with it.

I'm totally resigned now to the idea that if you can't beat them, join them. The model for success now is spend, spend, spend hundreds of millions of pounds. Burn the academy as a sacrifice to the Gods of 21st century football!

We didn't move to Stratford, at least we have that. If we have to be another financially doped club to achieve success, so fucking be it.

  13. Does Eric Bischoff understand the relationship between journalists and confidential sources? He constantly bangs on about how could Dave Meltzer or Wade Keller know this or that fact, and why won't they reveal their sources. Like, in Journalism 101 you're taught to *never*, under any circumstances - even if you have to go to jail - give up your sources. I thought this was common knowledge?

  14. The WWF were running some really weird polls in 1995. I mean, I know the OJ trial was a big deal, but fuck me. During a Raw, the day before the verdict was due, they were running an "Is OJ guilty" phone in poll (50 cents of each call going to charity.) Vince, you crazy bastard.

  15. Without us bringing in somebody substantial within the next week or so, we will finish outside the top four and it'll be time for Levy (well, since it isn't Levy's money, ENIC) to go.

We're an attractive option to any number of super rich foreign buyers. London club, brand new, state of the art stadium with an NFL pitch underneath the football pitch. Then we can buy ourselves a few leagues and cups like everyone else does.

You're just worried that if your stand up or journalism takes off, people might find your BNP supporting posts from all those years back, aren't you ;)

No, not really. a) I was between 12 and 13 years old when I posted that stuff and b) a feature article about how I used to be essentially a raving racist and bigot and ended up on the loony left is like my back pocket article that I'm holding onto until I get around to writing about it.

  17. I'm a little uncomfortable with raking people over the coals for making dumb jokes on Twitter when Twitter was still just some small social media startup.

By all means, if somebody has said something really crossing a line - even when the context of whatever time period it was said in is taken into account  - hold them accountable but the "it's not rape if you yell surprise" 'joke' is old as shit and not particularly offensive since it is clearly meant as a joke, not a set of instructions.

It might not be a funny or original joke, but it's still a joke and I'm not brimming with enthusiasm for the idea that jokes that are clearly jokes, poor taste or no, should be policed years after the fact.

  18. So,  Netflix has released a trailer for season two of Discovery...

Seems like they're having a lot more fun, whilst still doing all the spacey stuff and by the looks of things we might actually get to know the crew a bit better. Not a huge fan of Saru getting his command taken off him right away but...what do I know?

I do hope there is more Trek to come on TV apart from Discovery, as was rumoured. I'd like to see a movie even in the Prime timeline, with Admiral Picard and Captain Riker.

What are you looking for, @SpursRiot2012 ? I might have some.

Edit: Got 86-92 and part of 85.

Um...all of them, if possible? I'm working on a project.

I do have an Observer subscription so I'm not just after stealing from Dave but those issues for whatever reason just aren't there.

  20. How far back does the Wrestling Observer Newsletter digital archive currently go back?

EDIT: No worries, found out. Currently goes back as far as February 1, 1988 Wrestling Observer Newsletter: The first Royal Rumble up against Bunkhouse Stampede. But they randomly only have three issues up for 1988, then it jumps to 1991.

Not sure how up to date it is, but you can use this to browse the content (including direct links) and filter via wrestler: http://returntotherunway.com/wwenetwork/index.php

It also has random match generation: http://returntotherunway.com/wwenetwork/random_match.php

Cheers for that. Not quite what I'm after, but still useful.

Just how much JCP stuff is on the Network. Dating back how far? Also, do you know how much Mid South they have on there? Also, is most of it in order, or is there loads missing?

EDIT: Actually, getting to grips with that website, it does help a lot. Thanks.
