And I thought the London Irish weren't racist.

You probably won't believe this, but as I was typing that sentence, at the same time I was thinking, "I bet Keith replies to this, highlighting that line as a call back to me labelling all those outside London as horrible racists." And so you did. This is my non-football version of #NotThisSummer.

On a slightly more serious note, I could just never get into games like for example, Final Fantasy. I haven't actually played a lot of Japanese focused video games, but the ones I have played, I wasn't able to get into.

  2. I never played Shenmue on Dreamcast, even though I did own a Dreamcast at one time.

Is it really as good as so many people say? Am I going to find the graphics to be pretty unbearable since the game is something like 20 (?) years old? I like RPG and open world games (stuff like Elder Scrolls, GTA, RDR). Will this game and it's sequel be for me? At £25 for a remastered version of both games, it seems like something I should be all over but I've in the past had trouble with games that had a very Japanese style vibe to them.

Considering his career ended while under contract to WCW and due to a massive fuck off concussion, the ship in question didnt sail, it never existed to begin with.

This is all true (and he had a stroke) and what I think the original poster meant. But, yes, using the "ship has sailed" phrase in terms of Bret Hart probably isn't correct. But, if Bret hadn't got the Goldberg concussion, not had the stroke and then returned to WWE to do his angle with Vince - even at his age, then - I think he would have still been capable of putting on a very good match, much like Flair was able to despite his age during his WWE run post-WCW.

We got a DVD set or two, a Hall of Fame, and he's a regular talking head when relevant on the docs. What more did you want? What ship?

Probably in terms of being able to wrestle a match as well as he could in his prime, which Bret couldn't do for a number of reasons when he came back.

I had absolutely no interest in the NWA until I started watching these video package building up All In. They're absolutely incredible. Some of the best stuff I've seen in years. They've converted me. I'll be watching that 70th anniversary.

I haven't watched All In or any of the buildup to it as I'm not in the UK at the moment but intend to when I get back. However, since Corgan bought the NWA, they've done excellent video packages. I watched a lot of the ones building up Tim Storm Vs Nick Aldis for the title which were excellent, even if the resultant matches were not very good.

    He's a multi-millionaire. No he doesn't.

Well, sure. But he can try to continue to make money doing comedy. It's up to the people booking him and the people buying tickets to see him to stop him making a living doing comedy. And I don't think enough people (just going by reading shit online) think what Louis CK did was serious enough that he should be blackballed from comedy for life. A lot of people seem to be under the impression that because he asked permission once or twice before masturbating in front of co-workers and those under him, it's not so bad.

I would not be surprised, I'm afraid, if Louis CK is still able to sell out theatres all over the world.

  7. I'm pretty sure he'd done some pop ins at other clubs before this. I had heard of him doing a pop in set in either LA or NY a couple months ago.

It's really up to audiences (and bookers) to decide if he should still be out doing stand up. I don't really know when it comes to CK. He has to make a living, one assumes, and AFAIK the stuff he admitted to was nowhere near as bad as the stuff Spacey was accused of. There's a good article I'll try to find that was written by a female comic maybe a few months ago discussing the idea of forgiveness for Louis CK and him working again.

Also, seems a little harsh to link the "sexual misconduct" that one woman accused Aziz Ansari of with the shit Louis CK did.

  8. Definitely in the first half United were well on top and, as I said, if Lukaku had buried that chance, I imagine United would have gone on to win by two or three. Then again, we should have had a first half penalty. So much of football is about momentum. I wasn't comfortable at all at 0-2. There was half an hour left and United have a team that is more than capable of scoring three goals in that period of time. The third goal killed the game, but the United players were still playing at a high tempo deep into injury time.

This game tonight was about slim margins and a little bit of luck. In past seasons, all of that would have gone in United's favour. Today, it went for us. I personally think United need rid of Jose, but I'm not a United fan and if the fans want him to stay, and will be patient if this season starts off slowly, good for them. Managers get turfed out too quickly in this league after a run of bad results.

  9. Jose going over to applaud the fans and picking up the scarf and all that was very strange. First of all, what are they applauding? The fans? Second, it seemed kinda like a goodbye, maybe?

His heads gone a bit if you ask me...

"Wow. Jose Mourinho just had a meltdown: "What was the score? 3-0. That is three. How many Premier League titles I've won. Three. That is more than the other 19 managers put together." Then demands: "Respect. Respect" as he storms out."

  10. His post match comments says it all, really: "We didn't lose tactically, we didn't lose strategically but we lost the game."

    Yeah, right, Jose.

Also, Bacon, the issue with Lucas was he came to us from PSG lacking match fitness. As did Aurier. I think both will end up great for us. Yes, even Serge!

  11. I can't tell you how pleased I am with that result. It could have been so different if Lukaku hadn't missed that open goal. But he did. I've said since we signed him that once Lucas Moura had a full preseason with Poch, he'd become one of our top players. He's really good.

Who needs new signings when your team can bang Manchester United 0-3 at Old Trafford without them?

  12. DVDs can't be stolen?

I get your point though. I know lots of people who have huge DVD collections. Just personally I am pretty much 100% a streaming guy now, aside from torrents and my home TV package which is mainly for football.

  13. Oh, and in followup to my questions about wrestling crate services in this thread, I got my first WrestleCrate today. I got a Johnny Impact t-shirt and another t-shirt from two wrestlers I've never heard of. Both don't look like wrestling t-shirts and are pretty cool so I can actually wear them outside. I also got a PCW DVD called Better than a Bollard. Who the hell is still watching DVDs? I doubt I will ever watch this, so if someone wants it, drop me a message and they can have it for postage.

I got the latest issue of Calling Spots, which is alright. I got an autographed picture of a women's wrestler named Jinny. I have no idea who that is, but if someone is a big fan of hers and wants an autographed picture of her, message me and we will work out a price.  I also got a pretty cool poster for Riptide Wrestling and 30 days of free access to powerbomb.tv

All in all, it's not for me. I'm not spending 11.99 a month on this when a lot of it is stuff I would never use or want. So I shall be cancelling my subscription to WrestleCrate. I wish there was a nostalgia version of WrestleCrate where you only get shit from the 80s and 90s.

Is there an all purpose shilling/promoting things you've made thread? I swear we used to have one but can't find it anywhere

Mostly that stuff is posted in the UKFF Classifieds section. But if you've created something really cool or whatever, sometimes the mods will allow a pinned thread on it - Astro and Lister have both been able to promote their books in pinned topics outside of classifieds.

  15. I got into Something To Wrestle With quite late, only recently listening to multiple episodes a week since 83Weeks only releases one a week.

I like Conrad as a host, I don't mind and often enjoy Prichard's impressions and their stupid jokes, so really any episode I listen to, I can get on board with. I'm jumping around a lot, not listening in order (unless its, for example, an episode on Hogan in 87 followed by Hogan in 88 and 89, which I did this week).

I dislike Bruce's reluctance to talk about paydays since that stuff interests me, and Bischoff will always give up the number (even if he is lying through his teeth much of the time).

I really feel like someone like Prichard is going to be the closest we will ever get to a sort of Vince McMahon official biography, since Bruce was around for so many key moments in WWF/E history. Who else is there, aside from Vince himself, that could do a podcast like STWW and actually have the first hand knowledge to where the shit he says is mostly credible? There isn't anybody else.
