  1. Anyway, I'm shaving later because A GIRL told me I should, and I'm just that shallow, but I thought this was a good place to immortalize what is going on before I do away with it.

Shameful behaviour air_raid. It's a common test of a bird to see how she can tidy you up for her pleasing, next she'll be telling you to wear this shirt that she bought, what aftershave to wear, to cut back on drinking and before long you'll be stripped of your entire identity. That's how women work.

*cries into his tin of soup for one*

  2. I am a real ale fan, and occasional home brewer. Personal favs are porters and stouts. Most UK nobs think the US is void of any decent beer. Couldn't be more wrong to be honest. There is a massive microbrew, with some really being a lot bigger than "micro". The one negative thing about US beers is that they are generally overhopped. I place the blame of this on two things, 1) an overreaction to the underhopping of the BMC beers and 2) a belief that a beer is better the more hops it has.

There is a brewer around Boston going by the name "Pretty Things". He did a stint in the UK brewing in Yorkshire and has done a series of old beers (oldbeers.com). This are really good. The East India Porter is absolutely amazing.

When I'm back in the UK, I love to visit my brother in York and go down numerous pints of York Brewery's Centurion Ale. Sex in a pint glass.

  3. Absolutely. I'll not spoil it for anyone who decides to give it a go for the first time, but the Robert Carlyle/Christopher Eccleston scene is one of the most distressing in British TV history.

Yeah, don't look at Robert Carlyle's wiki page either as it has a spoiler right on there (I hate it when wikipedia spergs feel the need to that).

  4. Never played GTA online as I feared it would be full of the usual "faggot nutmuncher" calling teenagers.

This game looks immense though. Seems I could develop a WoW type addiction to it.

  5. Rogan's a known conspiracy guy and he goes out and tackles certain subjects and tries to get opinions from believers and non-believers.

Does he actually let the people he doesn't agree with actually say anything? Because anytime someone disagrees with him he just shouts over them with his gravel voice in my experience.

  6. Talking Heads

Talking Heads was one of mine. For shame

Talking Heads- Mesmerising Monologues especially Thora Hird's Cream Cracker Under The Settee and Maggie Smith's Bed Amongst The Lentils. Utterly wonderful TV.

Talking Heads? FUCKING HELL. They were SO unbelievably boring. I remember my Mum watching them while doing the ironing and feeling like I was going to die. Awful. Just awful. Maybe now I'd appreciate it, but as an 8 year old it was torture, pure torture.

  7. Neil, being as you live in the Boston area, are tall and look a fair bit like the NHL-playoff version of Zdeno Chara, do you ever get anyone taking a second look in the street thinking you're him? Or did you not have the beard during the play-offs?

    All. The. Fucking. Time.

During the playoffs it was miserable as I'd get a comment about it at least 5 times a day.

  8. Thanks SOC. Personally I preferred your final beard length there. I also enjoy the photo as it shows a pure rage at shaving it off. I'm not exactly sure when I stopped shaving, but I think it's about 4 1/2 months of growth right now. Even without having trimmed it, there's a load of upkeep, beard oil, combings, and a whole conditioning treatment of it.
