And by dropping Mark Henry on his own head no less. Fucking disgraceful.
I didn't actually mind the finish! Big lad tries to lift even bigger lad overhead, leverage and weight is too much. Would have been a great finish in a 1980s TV or MSG house show match.
But at WM 29 Ryback should have slaughtered Menry to regain some momentum after the previous 6 months. Instead they have him lose then try and rebuild him the next night.
Menry could have been squashed and still regained his momentum with that famous angle a few months later.
-
Ryback losing to Mark Henry clean in the middle at Wrestlemania 29 was perplexing, especially given Ryback was number one contender for the title a couple of weeks later.

Rumble 00 was shown live with ad breaks inserted meaning we missed live moments.
All the others shown on a 50 minute delay with ad breaks inserted but nothing cut out, although the froze the picture a couple of times to not show excessive violence.
Were Mae Young's tits the reason for the delay after Royal Rumble 2000?

I've never been a huge Edge fan but that MITB cash in is my favourite moment in wrestling ever, it was just perfect.
Taken as a whole, that Elimination Chamber and subsequent MITB cash in is probably my favourite match of the last 15 years. I don't think Carlito or Masters were ever as good again as that night. The crowd despises Cena so much that they were genuinely willing to see either of the mid-carders defeat him, and just when it looks like the bastard has triumphed over adversity again Edge comes out to save the day. Glorious stuff.

Just watching Global Warning from Australia in 2002, and Stephanie McMahon starts the show with a promo saying it has been “18 years since the wwe has been in the Southern Hemisphere”.
What event in 1984 is she referring to?
Raw was in South Africa in 1997 so Steph was talking nonsense.

How far back does the Wrestling Observer Newsletter digital archive currently go back?
EDIT: No worries, found out. Currently goes back as far as February 1, 1988 Wrestling Observer Newsletter: The first Royal Rumble up against Bunkhouse Stampede. But they randomly only have three issues up for 1988, then it jumps to 1991.
Is anyone aware of any reason why the Observer archive has that gap? I'm sure it was only a few years ago the 1988 issues were released, and it's good to read the "new" 2001 issues but it would be nice to have more of the old issues from the territory days released.

It's a well known story that Vince put on the first Survivor Series in order to run it against Starrcade 87 and threatened PPV companies that if they chose Starrcade they wouldn't get Mania IV.
My question is, did many companies say "screw you Vince" and run Starrcade? If so, did Vince stay true to his promise and block them from getting Mania?I think it was literally a few. Two in the Carolinas and one in San Jose. Regardless, all were allowed to carry Wrestlemania.
