Ooh, I'd be up for that too.

I might join in with a book club when I'm done with uni in a few weeks.

Primarily people who can read text in tiny images on the internet, I'd imagine.

Just one question that I had which may have been explained but I missed it..

Whilst not explicitly mentioned, one of the last lines in the film was something along the lines of "Y'know, I don't think Thor even has a cousin" so I imagine probably invented a distant cousin to 'reconnect' with the guy and tell him about the cabin.

I think he meant more along the lines of: How was it ensured that kids filling the appropriate roles would become friends and stay friends until the right time?

The 5* rating came from Alvarez seeing it live, did it not? I'm sure I remember hearing him talk about it being fantastic towards the end because it woke up a previously dead crowd. Stuff like that never holds up as well on tape.
-
Think this was originally supposed to be the draft special.
Â
Correct. Wiki even had it listed as such for ages.

I was at the Sheffield show on Friday night and they were filming the show for DVD release later in the year.
Â
... and it's now on my birthday list.
Â
And yeah, the crowd-baiting bits are always a highlight. He dragged it out for ages in Leicester when a woman walked out saying she'd come to "the wrong show mate". She later came back, and he worked it into the bit near the end where...

... he has the argument with the off-stage figure about how much more time he has to fill, insisting that the time he spent talking to the woman did count as part of the show.

Resurrection! We had a bit of talk going on about Stew in the Comments That Don't Warrant a Thread thread, and Super Keith Houchen kindly linked us bakc here. So! How fucking brilliant is Carpet Remnant World? He seems to get better with every tour, and I think this one might just be my favourite. The...

... Scooby-Doo stuff, the young Russells, the build to the end with the shops, the perfect, perfect ending, and all the usual deconstruction going to an even more ridiculously brilliant and insightful level than before...

... holy christ I hope he was joking when he said he wasn't gonna do any more DVDs.

It might have been, but wasn't it also Alan Hill's little brother? Or was that a sneeze fetish? I can't remember.
-
Pfft, what a tease. At least post some side-on pics of the shoes.
-
Right, fine, but what does "in check" mean? Because you're a guy who thought returning the shoes he was wearing was a reasonable idea. Your scale of normality is clearly a bit different to ours.Lucky all is in check downstairs

In kayfabe terms, it's no wonder he's a bit mental, given that he's been forced to relive his most traumatic childhood memory multiple times by his long-term employers.

Actually, this has no relevance to actual film discussion so I'm pussying out and removing it. To give Sev's post some context, I was talking about 500 Days of Summer.
-
The one in 1999, the year he was talking about. It was no-DQ that time as well.

Did Rock/Austin at Wrestlemania have the stip added on Heat? If so, it was just that and Backlash.

It was a big free gig at Finsbury Park in 2003. It was after Wes Borland quit the band, they gave away 40k tickets for it & funnily enough, Biffy Clyro supported.
Â
IIRC that was specifically as a making-it-up thing for not making it Download.

I'm far from an expert, having not heard either album all the way through, but I imagine a lot of the hate for Load and Reload probably came from long-time fans of the band not liking a new direction (which would be far from the first such instance in the history of music).

I haven't seen Richards/Elgin, but I'm pissed off, because one 5-star rating is all Richards will need as proof he's as good as he thinks he is. Which he isn't.

I might be in tonight. It'd better not be shit and full of twats, mind.
-
Outstanding.

Nordenfelt - Steam Powered Submarine - the first little single from my cousin's band. B-side's pretty good too.

With your help perhaps?

Absolutely fuck off with this ridiculous shit.

Yeah, I didn't mind One Day. Nothing special but it was fine. I had *that* moment spoiled for me beforehand when the missus read the book though, so I could see it coming when the scene rolled around.
