  1. Wow what a show! Stayed up late to watch live in the hope that Hangman was the joker. That 2 hours flew by and to me was ppv quality, it felt like a steal getting it on FITE for like a quid. Opener was fantastic, main event was fantastic and everything else was great, loads of promos and backstage action. Being picky, would have liked Bobby Fish to get less in and Sammy to have shined a little more. Overall it feels like a TV show from wrestlings heyday of late 90s, so much going on, doesn't all work but the good makes the bad acceptable. Plus Arn Anderson having a bonfire in Cody's back garden..... I love it all. Hook up my veins to the AEW machine ❤️

Hopefully if they went Round Robin it'd go more like the G1 and not the Bound For Glory Series. Maybe do one like at Starrcade 89 where 4 guys hads a round robin in a single night. It'd be a good way to introduce Kevin Steen when he turns up.

Love this idea, loved Starrcade 89 and would love to see a 1 night round robin tourney to take place again!

I assume they're still going to be doing Takeovers, but they're just going to be from the "NXT Arena" still?   I do wonder if they'll ever be going back to doing NXT house shows.   Surely that's an essential part of development.

I don't think it is, or should I say I don't think they think it is. Profit is key and no way NXT house shows are increasing the profit. They are already looking at a model of less house shows for the main shows as they were drawing poorly. I imagine they will still plan international tours but even they arnt as lucrative as they were. Without an improvement in the product the number of tickets sold isn't going to be improved but TV money is the bread and butter and unless that changes I can't see any desire to change the model. Maybe an increase in ticket prices for live TV taping due to an increase in demand due to the lack of house shows.

MJF bores me to tears, Miz lite. Is this an unpopular opinion? Do most people like him?

I'm sure I'll be in the minority here but been called MIZ lite is a complement in my world. Although I don't agree, I think he has a long way to go to be miz lite, especially on his social media which is just cringey trying too hard to be a heel. In ring wise he's great at old school heat and telling a story and his promos are top notch. I also don't consider what happened Sunday to be him 'jobbing' and can't see any downside other than adding to his character going forward.  BTW I can see that the quoted comment is showing SuperBacon and not the OP but I don't know how I did it or how to fix it 🤣

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Started a new job Monday so no chance of watching live but it was good to be excited all day about watching, keeping spoiler free, and then not being disappointed that it was worth the wsit 👍

Shout out to that bloke offering CM Punk a beer. Most awkward fan moment since that lad tried to hug Bayley.

This made me laugh far more than it should! I mean, even if Punk wasn't straight edge why in the hell would he want to drink a complete strangers dregs 😂🤣

Griff Garrison, stupid name aside, feels like he might have something if he can develop the character side of things, and maybe fills out a bit. Something about him registered with me, despite having not seen him before this week, and he seems like he could have something about him. Can't quite quantify it, but there's definitely potential there.

I too get this feeling that he has the potential to be a huge star but yet can't quite tell you why. Good to know I'm not the only one!

My FITE video started playing at slightly faster than normal speed partway through this show. The sound was at normal speed but the movements in the matches particularly were completely off, like I’d accidentally set it to 1.2x speed, which made it really hard to watch. Anyone know what might have happened and how I can avoid it in future?

Turn it off and then turn it back on again

More Eddie and David fucking Crockett! Amazing that David's calling a Yuka match in 2021.

I've never watched Elevation before but decided to put it on purely based on David Crockett as I'm watching him and Tony on the World Championship Wrestling show on the network and always enjoy Crockett enthusiasm. He didn't disappoint, sounded like he was having a blast!! I love that AEW has given legends that vince would never touch a chance to get involved and get a nostalgia pop from the crowd.

Actually really enjoyed the episode and if they keep it at 45 mins I'll watch it weekly. Crowd were a lot louder than on Dynamite so don't know whether that's because this was earlier in the night or whether they managed to sort the audio mix out in post production..... Hope it was the latter

I didn't mean it like that - Meltzer (I think, may have been Mike Johnson) said on his radio show that Brian rubbed people the wrong way when he first got there, wasn't trying to act coy about secret knowledge, I just couldn't remember who it was that said it (or exactly what they said) so I didn't want to get it wrong.

Fair play, I misread the intent but also was totally unaware that anything had been reported regarding Pillman rubbing people up the wrong way.

What a thoroughly great episode of Dynamite this week. I enjoyed everything but the biggest star of the night was 100% the crowd enthusiasm, man I have missed that! Main event was fantastic, Darby is crazy. Was great to see Sting brawling in the crowd looking like he was having the time of his life too!

I know there were other things going on that caused some trepidation also, but he seems to have overcome it. I like the team a lot, this is good to help him grow.

"I know something you don't know."

Bought your book last week and very much looking forward to reading it but comments like this are not needed. You know things we don't know, great. Your doing the right thing by not divulging this information, keeps you credible. So no need to make this statement at all.

Back on topic, Griff Garrison is a future star and I think it's fantastic that the AEW higher ups have picked up on this so early. Also the person who said he needs to stop wearing trunks clearly doesn't see the attention Griff, Sammy G and KIP get on twitter 😉

  11. I googled the definition of doudrop but accidentally wrote deudrop which gave me a rather interesting definition from the urban dictionary :

    TOP DEFINITION

    deudrop

    Past tense: deudropped
    Verb: deudropping

The excrement that rolls out of your pant leg when you walk and defecate at the same time. Usually done in public and requires a quick leg shake to clear the excrement from your pant leg.

Nick wanted to mess with his friends, so he cut a hole in his pants pocket and bought some milk duds. Later on, when he was with his friends, he grunted, shook his leg, and let a milk dud go. "Oh man! you just deudropped" one of them yelled.

Jose had to poop really bad. He casually walked through the Victoria's Secret store, shook his leg under a clothes rack, and let a deudrop go. The perfect stealth deudrop.

    That show warmed my soul.
    @tiger_rick

This summed up my feelings perfectly.

Would have loved to stay up to watch live but I was far too tired after a day trip with my niece to London but it was such a nice feeling to wake up this morning and be excited to watch it, and I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the show and am looking forward to the next few shows based on the promotion they have given them. We'll done AEW!

Appreciate it is all "what if's" and maybe it does just simply come down to the fact that it was just Shane Douglas and he wasn't as good as what he believed himself to be.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts then we'd all have a merry Christmas

OT: I was a huge fan of Douglas in 1992/3 WCW but think he was on the decline after that, his promos in ECW were groundbreaking at the time but hurt him professionally later on and with hindsight haven't aged particularly well.

  14. Whilst I completely agree that a first aider/paramedic should be in attendance for all shows that take place the cost is extremely high given the slim margins in wrestling.

I enquired on behalf of a friend who wanted to use wrestling as part of a charity banquet and the cheapest quote we had was £800 and that was St John's Ambulance. In fairness this was a 10 hour event and although the wrestling was only to last 2 hours my friend thought it made sense to have them there for the duration since he was expecting over 500 guests. Without the wrestling element it went down £100 and if there was to be no alcohol it would have decreased another £100. This was the charity price so I imagine a 4 hour wrestling show would be at least £500, which is 50 tickets at a tenner and probably more than an outlaw mudshow pays the talent in total. It also bizarrely increased the cost of insurance in my friends case as the insurers saw it as a higher risk if you needed professional first aiders! We didn't shop around though as the insurance was already in place and we only mentioned it expecting it may have slightly reduced the price.

For anyone interested the event took place without wrestling however 2 wrestlers were  booked to do a meet and greet and a promo leading to a future bout (which unfortunately hasn't happened due to pandemic). St John's ambulance were in attendance and thankfully not needed and the event was well attended and made decent amount of money for charity.

Upshot of this overly long post is although I totally support the need to have paramedics I can see why many shows go ahead without them and I think WWE is aware that their request makes it likely that their talent will not be booked.

  15. I was thinking that with such a strong tag division on AEW I would like to see a second tag title, maybe something akin to a TV tag title that gets defended weekly on either Dynamite or Rampage. This is probably just because I am desperate to see Varsity Blondes become champions!!

  16. Looks like Orange Cassidy was OK after the show so hopefully hasn't got a concussion. According to twitter it seems the original plan was for them to go to time limit and then the 3 way be announced. Explains the strange ending which was pretty creative to come up with on the fly and still get them to where they wanted.

  17. I've just watched it back and actually enjoyed it more the second time. It felt more like a war games I enjoyed back in the day more than the choreographed efforts NXT have put on over the last few years. Sure, it was a little disjointed in place but so we're the matches in the early 90's so I kinda dug it. I found the ending fine and would like to see those calling it a bouncy castle volunteering to take the bump! I agree that camera work could/should have been better, I would also liked to have seen some split screen shots once they went to the top of the cage so I could still see the action in the cage.

I think watching it on FITE was an advantage as I didn't have to deal with picture in picture and I definitely think the match was more suited to PPV.
