It really needed to be explained better for fans who arn't aware of the original belt. I think it's a really smart idea - the guy who invented his own world title because the legitimate champ was too injured to defend it, resurrects that title and gives it to his charge whose own world title match has just been postponed. It's a lovely bit of storytelling. But it's all for nothing if they're not gonna explain that story.

Say 50% of people who arn't aware of the belt Google it (and that's probably a generous figure), that's still a huge amount of your fanbase you're neglecting.

But I think the 50% who didn't think to Google it are happy enough watching without knowing every intricate detail and if used right the story should explain the belt going forwards anyway.

Personally I would have preferred the FTW belt to be unveiled and given to Cage after he failed to win the world belt from moxley in a screwy finish that gave him a claim to say he should be the world champ

  2. Another great episode, I was hesitant about AEW back in October, thinking it would be too indyriffic for me. The tongue in cheek, peek behind the curtain, comedy stuff has never been for me.

And whilst that is there, there is such a variety on the show that I really don't mind it. Two hosses battling in the opener, enjoyable tag, interesting video packages, quick squash and a good brawl at the end.... What more can one want from 2 hours of TV wrestling?

For me it's also the little things like Britt and Tony's interactions, kip sabian glasses, using the lumberjacks to develop undercard stories that really sets it apart from how I remember Raw being a couple of years ago (last time I really watched).

Even the cock ups like the Lucha Bros reveal don't hurt it for me as it gives things a live, gritty feel.

Last October I bought the fite TV pass mostly out of morbid curiosity, expecting a car crash. Now Thursday 6-8pm is my dedicated AEW time that I genuinely look forward to. I never thought I'd set my watch to weekly wrestling TV ever again!

He literally was saying she was so attractive that he wanted to rape her. I'm not sure what you're confused about.

I think they're handling this fairly well. It'sa severe wrist-slap for speaking like an edge-lord, and bringing the company into disrepute.

I haven't seen it but doubt that anyone watching seriously thought that he actually wanted to rape her, nor did he rape her, or for all we know ever said such a thing ever again.

His comment was inappropriate and as such a public slapped wrist as well as his apology and Sachas tweet confirming he had apologised to her was in order. Can't wait for people exposing what his pay was for whatever the period of his suspension is.

I'm probably wrong here but I feel that most people probably said something aged 22 that they would now think inappropriate and wouldn't dream of saying in retrospect. I also think that society is changing rapidly, and for the better, but judging people on comments of this nature from the past seems counter productive and is taking focus off of what #speakingout should really be all about.

  4. I enjoyed it, like I do most weeks.

Personal JR highlights this week are his absolute distain for Chuck (lanky) Taylor and him trying to get over that Young Bucks are in his opinion, arguably, the best tag team in the world right now, and that's subjective folks. He fookin hates them. I love grumpy, say what's on my mind JR

Not sure this quiet fits the bill but I watched Mania 16 last night and it brought to mind this thread. Specifically the Rock, I know its sacrilege but I never warmed to him.

This excludes movie and public Rock who I think is a delight  Wrestler Rock still slightly erks me however

Exactly the same for me! People think I'm crazy but I genuinely do not find his matches anywhere near as entertaining as most.

  6. That is the most entertained I have ever been with Randy Orton.

I hardly ever notice the leg slapping although I only watch Takeovers not the weekly stuff but I'm sure they will stick out like a sore thumb now that I know they happen so frequently

  7. I think the mental health of wrestlers, especially those on the indies would make for a good episode. Dealing with the effects of fans overstepping their mark and causing real offence and things like wrestlers taking things too far.  I read on twitter a while ago that some wrestler turned up to a small show unadvertised but ended up cutting a promo on a guy in the ring and pulling a knife, totally unexpected causing serous issues for the guy who had no idea if it was a shoot or not.
