  1. Modern day Nasty Boys is exactly right....and that's why I love them!! Main event was probably great live but had too much going on to make it translate on TV.

I have to say that I am a Hooker! Even bought the t-shirt this morning!

Enjoyed Jake Atlas v Adam Cole, hope Atlas's injury doesn't keep him out too long.

  2. I'm watching episodically on the network and watching ppvs and clashes as they fit in. The episodes run up to around GAB 89 although it'll be a while until I get there as just starting May 88. I'm hoping that by the time I get there the network has uploaded some more content to fill the gap between 1989 when JCP ends and 1992 when Saturday Night started!

Even in today's age of small wrestlers when I hear people say Cole is a future AEW Champion or main eventer I think they're absolutely nuts. You've got to draw the line somewhere and Cole is just an incredibly small man by any standards.

I can't believe that size still matters in 2021 😲

  4. Cracking tag title match between champions Barry Windham/Lex Luger and Arn Anderson/Tully Blanchard on the April 23 1988 episode of World Championship Wrestling. Highly recommended!

Analysis from the wife: Okada is gorgeous, prime Rock is up there at the top, young Jeff Hardy, Matt Jackson gets a strong mention, MJF, Darby. "Randy Orton is ugly as fuck." Cody, who she appreciates for his fashion, Kota Ibushi, Jungle Boy, Bret Hart in his prime, is appalled by Billy Gunn mentions in this thread, thinks Kip Sabian looks like a rat, likes Wardlow - "Beefy".

Me and your wife have similar tastes although rats must look very different in your neck of the woods!! Also, after watching elevation, I'm throwing Austin Gunn out there...I mean the guy has game!

  6. I love the Varsity Blondes and was genuinely happy to see them on Dynamite. Griff Garrison has a tonne of potential and I can really see him being a big star in the future, the main downfall I see is him obviously looking for cue's while under pressure in a live TV match. Best way to solve that is to give him some experience.

Brian Jr hasn't decided what kind of wrestler he wants to be yet, I wish they let Griff do the lion's share of the match's and let Brian get the hot tag but as has been said he gets the most action due to his name.

AEW is great at cycling talent on and off of Dynamite which is great for the Blondes and a lot of others. I watch dynamite and rampage weekly and try to fit in elevation but never have time for dark so occasional appearances on the main shows really benefits the young up and comers.

  7. I don't watch raw and rarely ever watch clips but was up early this morning and saw that The Miz was back and had a verbal sparring with Edge. 'Could be decent' I thought as clicking on the 5 min video. Boy was I wrong, the performances had all the believability of a poor school play but the thing that made it unwatchable was the fake crowd noise. I've seen people discussing it on here recently but was not prepared for how off-putting it is. Reactions are 2 seconds too late and you can't help but turn your attention to the crowd, who are sitting with their hands in their pockets and then realise you missed a line of the promo whilst preoccupied. Think it'll be a long time before I check out another 5 min clip of raw!!

big shout for the random turkeys that appeared in the graphics in the adverts

Haha I loved these too....became almost hypnotic wondering where it was going to appear next! Most enjoyable Dynamite ad breaks on FITE so far!

CM Punk's obsession with The Miz is hilariously pathetic. Like, let it go, man, you're not getting that Wrestlemania main event.

This was my thoughts too. I've never been the biggest Punk fan but when he was so bitter about someone else getting his spot at wrestlemania it made me like him even less. So bringing it up again made me chuckle that hes still not over it. Doesn't help that I am a huge Miz mark and to me getting called a poor man's Miz is not an insult.

Really enjoyed the show, nothing much to add that hasn't already been said. I will actually miss JR if he's taking time off....his surley commentary and constant trip ups is an added layer of enjoyment to me, plus I could listen to him and Tony chatting about the old days forever.

  9. JCP World Championship Wrestling 26th December 1987

Another fantastic show filmed in Raleigh, NC.  Feature match is Midnight Express v The Super Powers (Dusty Rhodes & Nikita Koloff) in a great match that I'm sure was their standard house show match but it was great to see.  The crowd is fantastic all night, totally in to everything and not a cringy chant in sight!

Features matches with Ron Garvin and Mighty Wilbur, Road Warriors, Sting, Michael Hayes, Dr Death, Eddie Gilbert and highlights from the evenings main event, a Bunkhouse Stampede.

Boxing Day 1987  had a top wrestling show on TBS.

Yeah, went to the one at Blackpool Tower Circus.

Essentially DBS played the part of Big Daddy in a tag match.

I remember a Hart brother being on the bill too.

Shirley Crabtree cut a sad figure selling merch.

Same at the show in Scarborough, Big Daddy selling posters but when I asked if he had any of him that I could get signed (as my previous one got damaged in a flood) he said 'Nah, just these americans' whilst showing me a poster of Bret Hart.  He did sign my ticket for free though which I'm sure still exists in my loft.

I'd give DBS a bit more credit than playing the Big Daddy role in a tag match though, he put in a decent shift including doing his famous standing vertical suplex on both of his opponents, who were huge, unfortunately not at the same time! The place was rammed and everyone wanted a pic with him so the intermission was about an hour and unfortunately my habit of waiting until it quietened down a bit meant they run out of Polaroids so I had to make do with a signed poster..... Which I'm sure will also be somewhere up in the loft.

Young uns with their camera phones don't know they are born!!

  11. JCP World Championship Wrestling 5th December 1987

Another great show away from the studio this time as all matches/interviews take place from the Miami Beach Convention Centre. Highlights include:

Barry Windham v Larry Zbysco, Ric Flair v Michael Hayes, Barbarian and Warlord as a team as well as great interviews by Sting, Luger, Roadwarriors and Tully & Arn..

Great way to spend 90 mins!

  12. The CM punk/Eddie Kingston segment was fantastic, I was totally captivated by it and after I'd watched the rest of rampage immediately rewound it to watch the segment again... And enjoyed it just as much the 2nd time.

Really looking forward to their match now and pretty much everything on Full Gear has my interest, should be a hell of a PPV!!

  13. I've been watching JCP World Championship Wrestling episodically on the network for a while now and always enjoy the mixture of squash matches and interviews along with the occasional competitive match.

The September 12th 1987 episode though truly is a hidden gem well worth seeking out.

    Nikita Koloff v Bobby Eaton

    Arn Anderson v Barry Windham

The first time Sting is seen on WCW

    Absolutely fantastic stuff!

Thought this would be a good thread for people to share hidden gems be it full shows or matches, recent or historic

I don't know who Minoru Suzuki is really, so he just appears to be an old man who loses all the time, as part of some world tour of losing to Americans.

This is exactly my take on him. I enjoyed his match against Danielson but the first 2 matches didn't do much for me. I think a lot more could have been done to let the masses know why this old man was so tough or such a threat. The 'tough old bastard' came across on TV but as Loki said after 3 defeats it does make us non NJPW fans wonder what all the fuss was about.

I know I’m a cynical twat at the best of times but this is real ambulance chasing shit.

There is the saying that opinions are like arseholes, but on this occasion the person with the opinion is an arsehole.

It's all well and good being cynical but this is just trolling. I was gonna write more but what's the point, stay in off topic Keith.
