  1. I just rewatched the streetfight and it's really a great job they did with that! Saw lots that I missed the first time and as much as I'm not a fan of cinematic wrestling it just works so well for Sting. I've always been a little stinger so I'm mega happy that he has changed the narrative on how he goes out from wrestling. Shame it's getting so little attention.

    Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

I watch via Firestick and am having the exact same issues. I'm hoping it's just a temporary thing whilst I'm assuming they are doing a lot of things in the background with the content moving in the US.

I was convinced Marty was going to be the Shawn when I was a kid. I just thought he was better.

100% this. Marty instantly became my favourite wrestler purely for his performance at Summerslam 90 when Shawn was injured before the match. This was the first wrestling match I had ever seen, I had just turned 10 and Martys heroism won me over more than anything anyone else did that night. When the Rockers split I was chuffed and was sure it was MJs time to shine. Even when he came back for the nth time for the Rockers reunion I was convinced he would get a fair chance of showing the world he was better than Michaels 🤣

To this day I'd be more likely to put Jannetty v Angle from Smackdown on than a HBK match....... The power of that first ever match I saw had such a lasting impression with me!!

  4. Rewatching 1995 WWF and they have a bin man, truck driver, dentist, hog farmer, blue blood, tax man, personal trainer, speedway driver and a Portuguese man o war. And we all remember how much we hated these lame characters.... And that was just one episode of raw.

But now, with viewership and seemingly interest at an all time low do you think it would be interesting to bring back characters?

In modern times we just have wrestlers, all glad to be there and happy to be wrestlers.... 'gratitude' if you will.

I think that giving some people a trade and doing it less cartoony could help get the joe public more invested and help storytelling evolve rather than just this person is fighting this person because they are wrestlers.

I know the world is different now so people would look up that Duke Drose wasn't actually a bin man but if we're suspending belief couldn't the reality era make this work?

    Some odd ones from me...

-Cena and Cryme Tyme being a thing

Strangley I will never forget their graffiti 'JBL is poopy' and think about it far more than anyone ever should. Couldn't tell you what event or year it is from but that moment is etched in my brain!

I can’t really see much upside to the path they’ve chosen, or even to what was presumably the original idea, Cody and Brandi teaming up.

I think the initial plan would be for Cody and Brandi to do all the media they are hoping Shaq's involvement will garner, which makes sense and that is absolutely Brandi's best use in AEW. I'm guessing that by keeping it as a mixed tag with Red Velvet replacing Brandi means that Brandi can still do the media and no doubt also tie in her pregnancy and try for some attention that way too.

The only thing they are missing is a story as to why this match is taking place... Hopefully they smooth that out before they do the press tour.

  7. I'm watching WCW Halloween Havoc '93 and hear Jesse Ventura say "look at that sign..... Stunning Steve Austin is the wrestler of the 90's". I had to rewind it to see the sign and there sure enough it was, expertly hand crafted including some kind of gold foil. You couldn't see its owner but could tell that it had been lovingly made. And I  thought, how right was that kid was when you look back at it historically.

Then I thought, there's gotta be loads of examples of this happening.... Signs that meant nothing at the time but with hindsight are totally on the money.

And where better to discuss it than a forum who mostly enjoy watching wrestling from yesteryear. I would have liked to put on a picture of the sign but literally have no idea where to begin but if the topic takes off maybe that would be nice

I really have no desire to see the Good Brothers get an AEW PPV match.

This was exactly my thought. I think this may be AEWs attempt at champions v champions for brand supremacy...... Everyone loves a battle for brand supremacy right?

When the Good Brothers got their WWE release I had my fingers crossed that they wouldn't get signed by AEW and am only just realising the ramifications of this cross promotional war!!

  9. The Bruiser Bedlam one should be great too. Part of a biker gang and so many shady things he was involved with including bombing his local police station. Been a story I've been interested in for a while so looking forward to hearing more details

  10. Yeah that was a bit of a meh episode. Hopefully just a glitch and quality resumes next week.

Found it annoying that FITE didn't show the 'picture in picture' parts of the matches, it's happened before and again hopefully that will be back to normal next week.

Jungle Boys new theme is stuck in my head so some good did come of it!

  11. How do the women's segments do on the ratings? People seem to want more from the division but maybe the ratings are just not there to dedicate more time per week or feature a womens bout as a main event.

Im not a huge fan of women's matches and tend to fast forward to the end unless I'm watching live. However if I was an American watching live I'm pretty sure I'd channel surf. Women's main event matches would undoubtedly affect my enjoyment of the show.

  12. Wow. What an episode of wrestling TV!

I did not know I could be so excited to see Sting back in wrestling but man that was an amazing moment. Made 100 times more special by the legend that is Tony Schiavone, he was just in his element. Looking forward to see how they integrate Sting into AEW.

Really enjoyed the main event and am glad they now have Omega as the champion. Wasn't expecting the ending at all but loved it and I'm interested to see where it goes, lots of possibilities. It won't make me start watching IMPACT but I might keep upto date with things via YouTube clips.

Enjoyed everything else on the show too, fun battle royal to start things and good Jericho match and Inner Circle shenanigans.

I've said it before on here but AEW has really rekindled my love of wrestling to the point I genuinely look forward to it every week, I even deemed this week's important enough to set an alarm to get up early to watch it and that was without knowing Sting would be showing up!

  13. Really enjoyed it this week. I thought the show had great pacing and a great mix of matches and angles/interviews. I'm really looking forward to Omega v Moxley next week following the excellent promo work by both guys.

Added bonus was they seem to have finally sorted the sound issues when cutting to backstage/pre tapes!!

  14. Enjoyable show from top to bottom. For me the tag title match was MOTN with Kenny/Hangman and the TNT title matches not far behind.

As others have said the world title match didn't fulfil the hype leading into it but the build up was so good it would have been difficult to fulfil it without a title change.... Which no one in that gear was getting 😜. The part I found most interesting about the main event was Kingston repeatedly going to the outside to pick up the single strand of barbed wire only to not use it but strategically place it in the ring. Think I noticed him do this 3 times.

Matt Hardy/Sammy G was not my kind of match and I had no expectations of enjoying it however they sucked me in with crazy firework fight and Gangrel turning up however they completely lost me by the end when I just felt uneasy watching them parody real injuries and dump him in a bin. Hopefully there will be no more of these kind of matches in AEW.

Everything else was enjoyable enough, watched the PPV live and the time just flew by which is high praise from me for a 4 hour PPV these days
