Could be self preservation mode kicking in or it could be Cena being Cena. He’s kind of like Perfect Peter to Brock’s Horrid Henry so maybe he wasn’t in on it but you wouldn’t bet against him being in some dodgy Vince WhatsApp chat groups.

No doubt, but you would think with him currently in Hollywood he would have had a better answer to that question than that. You know Stern is going to bring it up, so just give a non de-script answer. You don't have to go into the level of bullshit he did. Either that or show some genuine humanity.

All this just makes me love Bret even more.

Suspected broken ankle for Hangman (according to WOR). He's going to get it looked at but, if true, that's a shitter right there.

Bitter Hangman in a wheelchair could be bloody great. Obviously not what they want, but he can make it work

It's my first time seeing Austin Butler and he has proper old school movie star looks and screen presence which I haven't seen in Hollywood for what feels like forever.

Yup, he's handling the Movie Star playbook amazingly well. He's definitely got 'it' and already worked and is lining up to work with some huge Directors.

It was released in the US specifically for Oscar season, as was The Wrestler, but it didn’t seem to catch in the same way (and it was a pretty tough year for competition tbf)

It was too late for a real push as it is very much a word of mouth film. Had it come out earlier there could have been real momentum behind it.

I also have difficulty with them cutting out Chris. I get the whole running time thing, but this seems a bit harsh, given how tragic he was as well.

I agree, but the Director said he wasn't sure if an audience could deal with yet more tragedy.

Thought it was a very well done film. Not sure how they fumbled the Ric Flair casting, I mean what was that all about but everyone else was superb. It seems to have done really well financially as well and the word of mouth is very strong. A shame it wasn't released earlier in the US as it may have had a shot at a few Oscar noms. Was nice to see a story like that treated in the way it was. Really impressed.

I thought it was fantastic but I'm under the impression most of the regulars here thought it was hammy or a finisher spamfest. I thought they told a superb story.

I think it suffered at the time for being such mad expectation around it. I remember being utterly pumped to finally see it and felt slightly flat. I have watched it since a few times and I was wrong. It's great. I do prefer their rematch though

I could see Hangman doing something reprehensible to Swerve, causing the crowd to turn on him

This is my feeling. I think he could justify it as well while getting the crowd fully on Swerves side. Then have Hangman V Joe and have Hangman lose and start to really ramp up the heel. You could then re do Swerve V Hangman with the roles reversed.

Shawn Micheals 2002-2010 run was boring melodramatic shite

Anything he did with Triple H in that time was awful bar the Summerslam comeback match. The 'feud' and the DX stuff was utter tosh. Also throw in his feud with [REDACTED] which was terrible as well.

However, the heel turn on Hogan and his feuds with Jericho during this time were good.

  9. The pivot still makes Cody look like a loser. You could have easily had Cody's decision play out over weeks, with The Rock there and then he challenges both of them (still stupid but better than what's currently happening)

I don't think they're going to change Rock/Reigns into a Triple Threat with Cody. It ultimately dilutes the main selling point

  10. You just wonder what the hell they're doing really and not in a good way. There's some really good stuff in WWE at the moment, and they seem to have flubbed a load of it.

Drew is excellent, Seth has stepped his game up, Cody is somehow still over and everyone loves Sami...and yet...a four way seems throwaway. Seth/Cody is being overshadowed by what happened on Friday. If they do go with a one on one it doesn't feel special at all, mainly as Seth's been made to look like a chump and so has Cody.

I think people are WILLING this to be part of something, but I genuinely don't think it is.

That was 11 years ago. He's always taken himself THAT seriously.

I don't make him wrong on those points though. He IS a top star. As I said of course he has an ego, he's a performer and most wrestlers think they're the best. He has a chip on his shoulder sometimes as I think he believes he gets fucked over sometimes, and I can't say he's been wrong in the past. HOWEVER, he did also come across as a guy who was amusing and fairly well liked by everyone. That's really slipped the last few years.

Excuse the fantasy booking, but he's fucked as a babyface.

I know. Absolutely tragic that they genuinely had someone people were behind and they've blown it.

Tony Khan probably sending a text

  13. What an odd and terrible long term decision. They should have had Cody win last year, but if they were going to do that stupid finish last year you have to have him win this year. You just have to. Fair play to Cody that he still manages to remain over as he looks like an utter loser now. Nobody cares about that Rollins match despite Seth's very good promo. We've seen it before and it was OK. But there's no build to it or any real story. They sacrificed Sami for Cody and now Cody for The Rock. How is anyone supposed to get behind challengers for the title if they keep doing this.

No doubt it was changed due to the storm around WWE. If the reports are true off The Rock Hogan'ing his way into the main event because of it, then that's incredibly crap. I like The Rock but I don't care about seeing him wrestle again.

  14. I suppose I should qualify never used to take himself seriously. He always had an ego and he was a performer who often had a chip on his shoulder as he was badly let down at times when he was hot as hell in both WCW and WWF/E. All performers have egos, so he wasn't Mr Humble, but the latest version of him seems to think he's some top 5 of all time and he has zero sense of humour, which he always seemed to have.

Maybe he's just at the age where he doesn't give a shit anymore and he's just doing whatever he wants? I don't know. But yeah, totally agree. He's a mess these days.

That would be fine, but he's utterly ludicrous now. I don't actually care about his political views or anything as who cares really, but Jericho was always clever enough to reinvent himself and adapt to business. Now he's just bloated and seems to take himself way too seriously, which he never seemed to before. He's morphed into the character he was first doing on AEW

You can't sign guys like White, Ospreay AND Okada and give them all top tiering alongside the other guys you've already got. There's just too many of them. Now maybe Okada doesn't care but it feels like he'd only leave Japan to test himself and see what else he can achieve elsewhere, and is there room in AEW for that? I honestly don't know.

Okada going to AEW makes perfect sense. Big fanfare and treated like a mega star straight off. He'll get the red carpet rolled out and be in high profile matches. He can basically use it as a springboard to WWE in 2-3 years if he chooses to, rather than piddle about on NXT for ages, or debut to indifference on the main show. It's a subtle way for audiences who don't know him to discover him. Even WWE drones who slag off AEW will know who he is now.

Also I don't see it stockpiling. Chances are you'll get some big AEW cuts at some point and a reorganising of the rosters. With the WB deal coming up soon as well, having international names and markets is only going to help. No doubt AEW do Japan at some point and try to launch on TV over there. What a name to have do that. Plus they're 'stars' which is what you need.
