@Chest Rockwell - With good reason too. It's not that it's bad so much, just terribly boring. And who thought Dougray Scott would be a good main villain in a blockbuster

Thankfully it meant he never made X-Men and, therefore the roles and career of Hugh Jackman

There have been plenty of Pixar films that have been great without Lasseter on board.

There have also been loads of movies regarded as having 'perfect' endings that have yielded fine sequels. It's never an excuse not to make more. It just requires good writing.

Fully agree. And lets be honest what has he given us? Cars 2 FFS. Though Cars 3 was pretty good

Why are there concerns about the quality of the next Toy Story again?

The script was be Rashida Jones and her writing partner. They left under a cloud just before the John Lasseter situation. The film was due out this year and got swapped with Incredibles 2 (which to changes to that film). Also, TS4 was a JL project and with him going I think people are worried about the end product.

That and TS3 was a perfect closer

The main difference is one is employed, one is elected.  When you're employed it's a handful of people who decide if you keep your job, when you're elected to public office, it isn't. The hirings and firings of a private company are not the action of, nor are they reflective of, an entire electorate.

Thanks Keith. It takes my very simple comparison and puts it into actual context.

Why are you even trying to compare the two? I don't understand how it is at all relevant.

I'd like to think you know me enough by now that I don't seem to think about things in the way everyone else does. in my head it makes sense and what I am comparing is 2 people who have said terrible things publicly. I suppose really a better comparision is Roseanne Barr and James Gunn. He was sacked for things he said in the past. She was employed, knowing full well what she had been saying recently, but only being shit canned once she sent a racist tweet while the show was on.

If they are going to sack people because of their past, I hope that Disney never google search RDJ

Which is what you're doing now with James Gunn.

I am trying to see the difference between what someone is doing, right now as leader of argubly the most powerful country in the world, and him being allowed to carry on, and a movie director who said some dumb shit 10 years ago and apologized for it before. IF he has actually done any of those things he has discussed, I hope I never see his smug face again. However, if he has just made some stupid tweets, Disney should either of never hired him, or giving him a public dressing down.

Trump has caused a rise in tensions and racism across the world. He isn't the host of the Apprentice anymore, he is one of the most powerful men in the world who appears to be made of teflon. I cannot understand why he is able to continuely get away with everything, whilst a movie director was fired. Roseanne Barr, had a history of racist and anti semitism, and they still brought her show back. She was only fired when she was racist again now, not for past tweets. It is either a stitch up, or there are skelletons in the closet. But right now it looks iffy.

I love the GOTG films, I think he is a good director, and I don't think he should have been fired if someone rediscovering those tweets is the only reason why. If there is more to it then that, then I guess they didn't have any choice.

     But Big Dave isn't happy

While I don't doubt that there's a case to be made that this was a hatchet job by pro-trump supporters this isn't a case of Gunn being wronged and he definitely had to go.  He made terrible inappropriate comments less than 10 years ago as an adult, which he has said were part of a deliberate persona to be a 'provocateur', he didn't say it was wrong, he only said his humour had grown.

I've seen defenders saying it's hypocritical for Disney to take this action since also they've got inappropriate stuff in their past (eg Song of the South), but that's nonsense; those films are culturally insensitive but 'of their time', I don't recall child rape humour ever being culturally accepted.

I say that as a huge fan of both Guardians films and the MCU in general, I don't think he should never work again but it was the right decision. Disney had absolutely no choice, kids love Marvel movies, and GOTG especially; I wouldn't want my kids googling his name and finding this sort of stuff.

So, in that case where his comments then were very un-Disney, why did they hire him? They knew about those tweets, they must have. And when he was questioned about it (I saw some tweets with someone calling him out about it around 2013 I think it was) and he apologized then, why did Disney do nothing? This isn't a case of being caught doing something they had no idea about, these were public comments. It is the hypocrisy I don't like when people like John Lasseter and Johnny Depp are still celebrated by the company (and in JL's case, still on the payroll).

And it's nonsense. Millions of Americans moan about Trump constantly.

And yet Millions support him through thick and thin. Look at what happened when "Grab em by the pussy" happened. The people who defended it, including woman wearing t-shirts saying Trump can grab me by the pussy was shocking, and sickening

I knew Disney was powerful, but I never knew they got to choose the president..

The statement was about America’s attitude. According to twitter if you make a joke about paedophilia, that’s the same as being one.

However, James Gunn is very vocal about Trump. Bob Iger, head of Disney is friends of Trump. I think they have jumped the gun on their reaction to this personally (pun not intended)

And the 8chan defender when the kiddie porn stuff was going on.

On one hand, it's great to see Disney take a firm stance on stuff that could tarnish their image.  On the other hand, they employ Johnny Depp.

And John Lassiter. And the question is why did Disney hire him in the first place as his tweets were pre him being taken on for GotG

America. The country where someone writes some tweets to be controversial before they were famous and gets publicly fired for it but is happy to have a sexist, racist president who is in bed with Russia get away with saying and doing worse. Well played

”I don’t think he is a racist, it’s good to see him back home”

”I’m white, so I’m not offended, it’s good to see him back”

It’s eye opening, as well as mind bending, how fucking idiotic people are (should be used to it now I know).

He calls himself a racist for fuck sake, then proves as much by saying what he said, yet some daft pricks are happy to ignore any of that because it’s Hogan. Fucking cranks.

Don’t read the following thread of tweets if you can’t be arsed with a few morons. This is however exactly what I’m on about.

I saw a video yesterday on Channel 4 news of people would not change their opinion on trump because of a 1 hour press conference. All Trump has done is made it seemingly ok for people to be out and out racist rather then do it behind closed doors. Like Hulk Hogan,

Really interested in how they will approach this, whether they’ll go through every line, or stick with their age range figures (hasbros) for example. There’s so much to cover.

    Can’t wait

I hope they focus on Hasbro more then LJN or Jakks. Hasbro was when it had exploded globally. Before that it was mainly just the US that was being focused on (hardly saw any LJN in the UK during the mid to late 80's).

Also announced TMNT and Power Rangers which should also be great

Hopefully West Ham don't fall into the trap of not starting well, playing too open football and getting punished and then sacking the manager and going back to survival football by Christmas. Would also be nice to see the fans get behind the team this season and try turn the Olympic Stadium into a good atmosphere. This is West Ham though.

My theory is the board are having a last throw of the dice. Spending all this cash to be able to sell up within the next 2 years. As much as I love Upton Park, The OS is an amazing stadium and can, as you say, have a great atmosphere if people stop being dicks (not Julian).

  15. I got blocked by Joel Ross who i never @tted but he searched his name. I think it was when he had his melt down on twitter. Also by Vince Russo (because he had a massive rant about Wrestlecrap) and Dom Jolly (a massive prick of a man)

I feel that this could have been copied and pasted from last season's football thread.

I didn't rate their dealings last season at all (apart from Marko Aranutovic, though I also felt Moyles would keep them up). But a new, proven manager, their club record signing in Anderson, looking likely to sell Carroll, it's looking good.
