They didn't make her repeatedly get behind the wheel of a car while drunk, however.

I agree that she was enabled by a lot of people during her time in the industry but her actions over the past 10 years or so are hers alone. Many people are addicts and/or have mental health issues but don't repeatedly drive while drunk, nor do they laugh about it/dismiss it after coming out of jail for doing so.

Regarding the DUIs, she seemed to get a much rougher time of it online than Jeff Hardy or Jimmy Uso, who seem to get immediately forgiven everytime once they return to the ring.

  2. I don't want to see any Cosmo Jarvis slander in here. He's great in Calm With Horses and Lady Macbeth. Fantatic actor.

@SuperBacon Good shout on The Corrections. Along the same lines, I'd love to see a star-studded HBO adaptation of Franzens Freedom.

  3. I think they've done away with the 'interim' bollocks. It just didn't work. AEW retroactively upgrading Toni Storm from former Interim champion to former proper champion felt like them admitting it was a mistake and they haven't done it since.

That is a fair point although there are plenty of people who absolutely hate WWE, who for some reason tuned into that, just so they can immediately moan about it online, and always were going to.

Oh no doubt. People have been watching WWE just to moan about it for years. I just think tarring all opinions with 'you were going to love it/hate it anyway' is a bit much, if we can't take any opinions at face value then what's the point in discussing them.

Personally, my love for CM Punk (I'd still have him in my top 5 wrestlers ever) is stronger than my dislike of WWE, but I still thought the promo was average and a letdown when they've got that many eyes on them.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the disingenuous nature of it and the 'I'm here to make money' line were them slowly planting the seeds for an eventual heel run at some point (the CM stands for Corporate Machine!)

  5. I thought it was a bang-average promo and had me eye-rolling in places ("I'm home," ugh) but it was still better than his last set of AEW Collision promos where he just rambled on holding a burlap sack and nobody knew if he was heel or face.

Saying 'people were always going to love it/hate it' is a bit unfair, you can't possibly know if people are watching it with an open mind or not.

  6. I know he doesn't have many fans on here but I'm a bit sad about QT Marshall. His few turns flirting with the real stars showed him to be massively out of place, but there was a period of time where he was the gatekeeper of Dark/Elevation and having bangers every week. Wonder if Cody has enough sway to land him a job in the big house?

MJF being injured is an absolutely massive blow for them.

I gave up. We were in L last year, cost £196. Now those seats are over £400 and the last blocks on the floor are about £250. Tempted to go for level 1 instead but will wait for the general release as all the seats I was offered were poor for the costs.

I've just used my presale link to check out the prices and I'm quite disappointed, to be honest. It looks like after the huge success of this years event they're trying to rinse the fanbase and see how far they can push prices.

My seats this year were also £196. The exact same seats are £360 now. But at least you get a commemorative lanyard with that!

I remember the summer of 2011 where Raw was endless convoluted worked shoot pipebomb bollocks from CM Punk but then on Smackdown you had Mark Henry doing the Hall of Pain story and it was just pure, simple brilliant proper pro wrestling stuff producing some of the best and most gripping telly in ages. Sigh.

Smackdown also had the Christian vs Randy Orton feud at the time which I'd genuinely have as one of my favourite WWE feuds ever.

  9. I'm definitely going but I've got no interest in buying tickets early like I did last year. I think putting them on sale this close to Christmas is madness, really. I guess Khan is banking on people buying tickets as Xmas gifts but to me it's a bit out-of-touch to assume this is a viable option for most people.

More than happy to be proved wrong when they've done 50k by next week.

  10. Anyone else still watching this? It's usually a solid but fairly dull few hours of wrestling but its fine to have on in the background while I'm doing my tea on a Friday night. This week's episode was the best in a while though.

    - A good Shibata title defence (although how many title matches have Best Friends lost since AEW started? Seems to happen alot)

    - The Workhorsemen finally got their long-overdue win. West Coast Wrecking Crew looked fun too, they'd make a good addition to the tag roster.

    - Wheeler Yuta continues to be a fantastically aggressive little shit. Lee Moriarty always has good matches but he's missing something to make him click with the audience and I'm not sure what it is.

    - Jack Cartwheel! I love when that guy pops up. Fun four-way match although, much like Moriarty, Lee Johnson needs to find something just to push him over the line. Just being good in the ring doesn't cut it anymore. Also, have NJPW done a good job with Fred Rosser? The commentary team made it sound like a big deal that he got pinned which was odd to me because in my eyes he's still Darren Young.

    - Ronda Rousey showing up got a good reaction. I didn't see much of her panned 2nd WWE run, but she actually seemed engaged and energised here. I really enjoyed the match too, and I wouldnt be against Athena vs Rousey at Final Battle if that's the route they're going.

    More shows like this please!

  11. It's a tale as old as AEW itself. They produce a red-hot PPV with tons of momentum then they follow it up with a solid if middling episode of TV. They know how to put on some brilliant wrestling but they struggle to really capitalise on their own success at times.

That being said, I enjoyed all 3 of the Continental Classic matches (and it's really not THAT hard to follow). Mark Briscoe continues to be one of the best pair of hands in the business. Heel, face, opener, main event, he can do it all. He's equally believeable mixing it up with Tony Nese on ROH or fighting Moxley in the main event here.

I do like me some Danhausen, but the real return on this show was Hager's hat. Really fun trios match, Orange Cassidy has been the MVP of this company in 2023.

The world champion and his best mate both being completely hobbled looked tragic but also quite endearing. MJF/Joe was class the first time around so I'm well up for some more.

I loved everything about the Christian Cage segment, he's one of the best dickheads in the business at the moment. I think Copeland taking out Nick Wayne at the end might lead to his mam joining up with Christian. Those pair recreating the Christian/Trish kiss would be quite the image. Luchasaurus' redemption story should be a ton of fun.

Toni Storm was the real highlight of this show though. Her sitting in the crowd was inspired and the line 'all the little Toni Storms out there... this is my spot, you will not take it, you will not make it' was absolutely brilliant. Also Mariah May 🥰

Fully on board with this Cool Hand Ang/Ruby Soho romance. Lower/mid-card wrestlers having fun storylines was something AEW used to do a lot more in its early years but has gravitated away from, but I love little stories like this.

I also really like how they're promoting Garcia as the underdog in this tournament. He's going to get a big win at some point and I can't wait.

The most egregious thing here is that if it was in a spreadsheet you really wouldn't need to save multiple versions for the sort.

My feeling is that spreadsheets look ugly and cluttered. Lists are lovely.

Lists seem to be a real prevalent thing for keffers.

So much so that a fair few keffers end up on lists.

  13. I make lists. Lists of 'films I want to watch', 'films I've watched' the same with TV shows, books, games, albums etc. I get a real sense of satisfaction from deleting something off my 'need to watch' list and adding it to my 'what I've watched' list.

I have an ongoing list I keep of all AEW champions and title defences and now I've typed that down I realise it might be the most tragic thing I've ever wrote.

It can get slightly obsessive. When I bought the original Xbox last year I spent about 3 days during a lull at work putting together a list of games I wanted for it, then saving multiple versions of it, one ordered by release date, one split into genres, etc.

    One that I personally don't find dull but I can see why other people might - I'm really interested in film title screens and keep a folder of screengrabs of my favourite ones. Evil Dead Rise is probably my favourite this year;

  14. For people who'd rather go into Dynamite knowing all 12 of the Continental Classic participants, they're doing a special reveal show on their Youtube/Facebook/etc channels 6PM UK time today.

Fingers crossed for Garcia! If one of the Hardys ends up in it the whole competition can get to fuck.

Where's the value in going balls-to-the-wall on ROH TV, for example?

This hardly ever happens. I'd be hard-pressed to name any mad bumps or spots in the last 3-4 months of ROH TV. A lot of it is a more Pure/submission or lucha based style now, and the majority of it is squash matches akin to Dark.

That's not all that bad, I remember quite enjoying it at the time which could likely be the same day you watched it.

One of the kids in it is now a pretty good young director, Quinn Shepard.

I had no idea until now that it was directed by Paul Feig! I just always assumed it was a TV movie where nobody involved went on to do much else.

I got an Oodie style thing from Aldi the other day for £15. It's not cooled down enough that I need it right now, but it'll get some use at some point.

I've been living in mine since the clocks changed. Gloriously comfortable.

  18. I'm not sure what's worse. Looking down on a 19 year old because they don't drive and haven't worked before (they're 19, for fucks sake!) or looking down on a candidate because they were nervous and said they were going to the doctors to pick up their medication (???)
