At the very least, Cena regained the belt from Miz in a three way cage match vs Morrison at Extreme Rules 2011.

Otherwise known as the Osama Bin Laden Compromised To A Permanent End Match.

Doesn't quite roll off the tongue that one.

    Great bit of the film.

    Yup. Facts.

Me and a mate have got a bit of a running joke where everytime we see those daft pics of people with quotes they definitely didn't say, we send them to each other. Except now I've started photoshopping my own quote onto the bottom. The last one I sent him was a black and white picture of Tommy Shelby with "You don't get anything for a pair, not in this game" at the bottom.

The best one I saw was a picture of Tupac with "A wolf doesn't concern himself with the opinions of sheep", because it's common knowledge that Tupac was one of those Facebook moms who keep their pyjamas on to pick the kids up from school.

A Hook v Cristian build could be a lot of fun…they’d have to tease dad Taz getting involved in some kind of stare down (up) between Cristian & Taz. Does Taz still have the ability to put in a choke hold, or is he completely out of action?

He put the Tazmission on Cody a few years back so I can't see why not, I always get the impression Taz doesn't really want to get involved in Hook storylines though.

  4. I never ever turn films off before they're finished. I've probably done it twice in the last 15 years. Even if I hate something, I think 'ah well, it'll be over in an hour or so'.

I just got 37 minutes into Lift and had to knock it on the head. I've seen worse films but I don't know if I've ever seen something so obviously uninspired and lazy. If the people making this film can't be arsed, why should I?

Seems mad that Kevin Hart used to be half-decent comic relief, too.

  5. Joe vs Hook was a great little match.

Really enjoying AEW since Worlds End and that continued on this show. Joe vs Hangman vs Swerve for the next few months will do me nicely.

May have shed a tear at that Briscoes segment. Imagine seeing Mark Briscoe, with that connection he has with the crowd, the inbuilt emotional title-chasing storylines you could do with him and instead choosing to drown him in The Hardys Lake of bullshit.

  6. Incredibly jealous reading this thread.

All I've got near me is a shithole Showcase and an even bigger shithole Odeon. The Odeon is the only building that I still get lost in despite going there for years, because once you're past the foyer all the corridors leading to the screening rooms are identikit and all look like 'backstage'. The amount of times I've walked into another screening while trying to find my way out is ridiculous. It's genuinely scary at times how easy it is to get lost in there.

  7. The Zak Knight appearances have been surprisingly decent so far, but having him go 8 minutes with Not Serpentico was certainly a choice.

God bless the fans who stay for the entire taping. Imagine watching four hours of wrestling featuring actual AEW stars on Collision then deciding you'll also stick around for the next installment of Maria's lads vs Serpentico/Angelico, or an Iron Savages match. True dedication.

Would Hangman Page count? I know he wrestled for New Japan and had some level of notoriety, but they’ve essentially built who he is.

That's a good point. I'd say he had more name recognition and following than the other pillars but yeah, I'd still consider him homegrown.

I just think Sammy has been eclipsed by other wrestlers who are better at everything he does than he is. There are better smug heels, better weaselly heels, better flippy guys, better underdog babyfaces when they try and cast him in that role. Give it another year or two, and Nick Wayne may well have completely eclipsed him on all fronts. The notion of Sammy, rather than Orange Cassidy, as one of the "four pillars" seems more absurd by the day.

Orange Cassidy not being one of the four pillars is a bit of a bugbear of mine (an irrational bugbear, because it doesn't really mean anything). He may be AEW's biggest homegrown success story outside of MJF.

  10. Really pleasantly surprised by how comfortable Hook looked squaring up to Joe, like he belonged in there with the champ. I got that tingly 'fucking hell, this could be great' feeling when they went nose to nose.

Sting is retiring at the right time as I reckon if he hangs around with Darby much longer he'll end up diving off the Dailys Place roof. Madman.

I feel sorry for Sammy Guevara. Remember the early days when Omega was running him over in a golf cart? He was the perfect sidekick/job guy for Inner Circle. As Rooster said, they have Big Show'ed him too much and now there's no interest left in him at all. He probably should've just slotted back into the Don Callis family.

Thunder Rosa still looks cool as fuck. And I usually can't be doing with Stokeley but he's finally winning me over with his lusting over Kris Statlander (relatable!) I really hope they put some more focus on the womens division this year as just looking at that 8-women tag, there's so much potential there.

Really good start to the year for AEW.

He'd have been a great fit for AEW, and I'm kind of amazed he only got the one-off throwaway match there,

Bloody hell, I completely forgot MCMG had an AEW PPV match until now. Like you say, amazing that they only had one match there and bizarrely were on the heel team.

  12. My local childhood chippy. Found a black hair in my chips when I was about 14 and the owner said it was one of mine so he wouldn't replace them. My hair is light brown!

Haven't been for about 20 years. To be fair, if it happened now I'd just remove the hair and carry on eating, but I was a kid and he was a cunt, so he can get fucked.

    His scallops were amazing too.

I don't use Twitter since Elon Musk took over too, if that counts.

Someone at work did a Covid test and they said they're "still neggy" 😒

This reminds me of somebody on Facebook was was using the phrase 'cozzy livs' instead of 'cost of living'. To my shame I started using it ironically and now use it automatically when moaning about the price of something.

  14. I do think he has a broader point. It just ties in with the idea that when a company has momentum behind it, it is easier to overlook bad booking. You'd imagine an announcement akin to Seth vs Jinder 3 years ago would've been under scrutiny a lot more than it is currently. Similarly, if AEW announced Samoa Joe defending the title against Ryan Nemeth next week I do think people would come for it in a way we haven't seen with Seth vs Jinder.

The issue is that Tony Khan as the main boss is probably the worst person to be on Twitter arguing the toss about this, and he can't do so without coming across as a fucking idiot.

I still think back to when he jumped on Twitter to say he sacked Big Swole because she was a bad wrestler, then in the same tweet promoted a match involving The Bunny.

The USA Network reply was funny, to be fair.

They can tie in how Taz was once Joe's mentor, so Hook knows all his tricks and his weaknesses, and make it feel like more than just a filler defence.

The little promo from Hook mentioned that he's had his eyes on Joe since he was growing up due to 'personal connections' so I think this is the route they're going. On paper it's a really interesting match.

  16. Some great action on that show. I really got into Trent vs Eddie and the commentary team touched on it enough times that it looks like Trent constantly coming up short might be going somewhere. He's always been a bit of a dick surrounded by his nicer Best Friends so I wouldn't mind seeing a heel run from him.

Your typical banger FTR main event. Garcia & FTR vs HOB will be a cracker. However, it's a sign of how muddled AEWs face/heel booking has been the past year when the heels who have insulted the faces family and are beating him up infront of his daughter are getting a huge House of Black chant.

I've never been a massive Edge fan but I'm really enjoying his AEW run so far, his intensity is actually believable whereas in the past it's come across as corny. Also helps that his gear looks decent after he spent so long rocking those horrendous pyjama bottoms. The Cope Open (that name will never catch on) should lead to some good outings for the younger lads.

Can't wait for Hook vs Joe!

Dyno lineup looks strong, with the exception of the Jericho storyline casting a dark cloud over everything.

  17. I went in HMV earlier today for the first time in about 6 years. I know it's been mentioned on here recently but I had no idea just how much they had gotten behind the whole vinyl craze. Their vinyl section was easily as big as their CD section used to be in the 90s/00s. Was contemplating going for the 3 for £55 deal on Echo & The Bunnymen, Talking Heads and The Waterboys, then realised daft shite here doesn't even have a record player.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by just how cool it still was in there, to be fair*. Once you got past the Funko Pops, anime merch and Rebel Moon t-shirts (whose buying those?!), the vinyl section was presented with the kind of care you'd typically associate with an independent record shop and the DVD/Blu-Rays were seperated into neat little categories like Criterion Classics and Arrow Video cult films. If I had the kind of disposable income I had in my early 20s I'd be making a trip every weekend.

*cool to me, so obviously very uncool

  18. Bob Warman. Presented ITV Central News from when I was born all the way into adulthood, someone whose voice and presence has been there my whole life. He retired a few years back and going to my parents for tea without his voice and that warm, welcoming manner in the background just isn't the same. When he finally dies it'll be like a part of my childhood has gone along with it.

My sister served him in Beatties once and said he was the loveliest man and the warmth you felt on-screen just radiated from him off-screen too.
