  1. In defence of the fans being there, I was sat next to a guy in his eighties and got chatting to him between inductions. The HoF was the only bit of Mania week he went to, despite living within sight of the MetLife. He just wanted to hear the old names that he'd watched in the Garden as a kid, he'd seen Sammartino live and wanted to remember the wrestlers he'd forgotten over time.

The Hall of Fame should go back to the infinitely superior 2004 model. More like a sportsman's dinner with a small crowd, friends, family and talent.

It was a small crowd last year, but not by design. I got my ticket for about a third of the face value, which tells you everything!

I don't know how much longer they can get away with doing the Hall of Fame like they have been, no one seems to enjoy it, just hours of droning speeches from wrestlers of decreasing star power in a massive bored arena. Cutting it down and incorporating it as part of a two day mania would probably be the best thing for it.

I went to last years at the Barclays Center and enjoyed it. The speeches were good (DX were great live) and even without the nobhead attacking Bret, it was better in-person than it comes across on TV.

  4. @Divorced Dad we might have cracked it! I drew a massive chalk clock (definitely a clock) in the garden and tried @Joe Blog idea and made her walk round it, reciting the times. I've also been randomly getting her to tell me the time throughout the day, she's getting much quicker.

Add us to the Joe Wickes crew, been giving them daily spelling tests on various subjects, maths, going through their workbooks from school and occasional Minecraft breaks. Also got my 9 year old on Kingdom Hearts 3, so I'm counting lockdown as a raging success so far.

Knackered, though, I'm having to work from 6:30 to 1pm every day, then homeschooling.

This thread has been awesome, though, it really has.

Having been a big Stephen King fan when I was younger, I thought I would give a go on the ones I missed now that I have a bit of time.

Started on Mr Mercedes. Enjoying it so far. King's always been somewhat clunky at times, but he always has a good hook in his books. I've got the other 2 in the series, so will dive in.

I read Doctor Sleep earlier this year and really enjoyed it. The best book he's written in the past decade is 11.22.63, a stunning book to read. I've read most of his work over the years, that one and Misery are the two I recommend above all others.

Seen it less with Sean Michaels though.

Sean Michaels is a real-life 90's porn star. There was a lawsuit between him and WWE over the use of the name, oddly enough.

  7. Add me to the homeschooling list...

Both my wife and I will be working from home, so we're splitting our time. I'm working in the morning, she's doing the afternoon while the other sorts the kids out.

Their school have laid on a lot of links to the BBC Bitesize website (I'd seriously recommend it), YouTube videos. Joe Wickes is going to do a 20 minute PE lesson each morning on YouTube so we'll be using that. Aside from that, lots of reading, maths and tests.

  8. I've just had to do the weekly shop in Asda. As you walk in, you get told 3 of everything, except kitchen towel and bog rolls where it's one each. Family of two elderly parents and three adult children all turn up together, all grab a trolley and a 24 pack of toilet roll each, then left, bragging how they'd beaten the system.

    People suck, they really do.

  9. Having gone through the first 4 Takeovers in two days...

They really made such a big deal of signing KENTA, for such little long-term reward

There are some people I genuinely had no memory of at all. Rich Brennan on commentary? Sylvester Lafort?

Speaking of Sylvester, a hair-vs-hair match with Enzo, with no head shaving at the end?

Baron Corbin was surprisingly popular on his debut. Mojo Rawley seemed to have his own fan club. Seeing Elias joining the Sami Zayn celebration made me think how weirdly he looks like Bradley Cooper with short hair and not much beard.

Sami Zayn vs Neville is still an absolutely blindingly good match.

@Grecian you still working for BSU? Have they suspended placements on PGCE. I'm about to put together a sick playlist to watch when Wolverhampton sorts me out.

Yup, still there (12 years and counting).

We've not suspended placements, some trainees aren't being allowed into schools, but it varies. Most places are waiting for Boris to decide when he's closing schools officially. Until then, we're telling our guys to keep attending if they can.

I'm a sucker for things like this, even when I'm not being forced into "self-isolation".

Since Raw and Smackdown are not really delivering the goods as far as Mania hype goes... and the event itself is taking place in essentially a freaking empty gym, here's some ideas for playlists based around the participants in Wrestlemania and the HOF. Here's the first of a few match listings to cure my boredom.

    The Edge Collection

Everyone's favourite Rated-R Superstar made the shock return of the decade (granted, we're only a couple of months in) at the 2020 Royal Rumble. For the younger viewers that may not know who Edge is, or older fans who need some refreshing, here's some career highlights:

There's one match I'd add, the triple threat between Edge, Batista and Undertaker at Armageddon 2007, just for the ending that summed up Edge as a sneaky bastard heel perfectly.

Survivors 06  - DX, Hardy Boyz & CM Punk vs Rated RKO, Mike Knox, Greg Helms & Johnny Nitro.

The match best remembered for Shawn eliminating Knox in milliseconds & then asking Hunter who he was.

And the crowd going nuts for CM Punk at the start, and Trips and HBK having to acknowledge it by letting him join in the DX 'Are you ready stuff'.

Closest I can think of for HBK and Brock was Brock breaking HBK's arm as part the Triple H angle he did around Mania 29 time.

Trump has banned all flights from Europe to USA for 30 days from this Friday with the exception of the UK. So I assume anyone from Europe planning on going Wrestlemania (if it doesn't get cancelled) can catch a flight to the UK and fly to Tampa

Not quite. US Border guards can ask your origin of travels, and your plane ticket will show all the details of your flights. They can refuse entry if you're flown from, say, North Italy to Heathrow to Tampa.
