  1. They have to get R-Truth in this. Maybe climbing to the top of the Performance Center trying to find the briefcase.

When life goes back to normal, 4 hour PPVs in a normal ring are going to be so dull.

  2. His stalling and uncertainty at who won the '94 Rumble was wonderfully understated. Until it seemed he decided there were joint winners.

    What a guy.

  3. Not trying to defend Vince at all, just simply looking at things from a business and financial perspective. I think it's utter shit that it's happened, as it is whenever anyone loses a job through absolutely no fault of their own.

Of those released, how many were being regularly featured on TV? Arguably Rusev with his cuck storyline, the OC as AJ's sidekicks, Sarah Logan was a body for Shayna to beat in the Elimination Chamber - I doubt any of the others were on the cusp of a main event push? How many already wanted to leave - Kanellis had publically asked for his release, Purrazzo has said she'd been struggling, Rusev clearly wasn't chuffed with life, the OC took a long time to sign a new contract. At least by going now, assuming they've had the 3 months pay WWE usually doles out for the no-compete clause, they can pretty much sign with anyone and go back to work in the summer.

Again, I'm not saying it's right, not in the slightest. But for Vince, his company and his shareholders come first, as they always do for any businessman. I guess I've grown accustomed over the years to billionaires being utter shitbags - look at Mike Ashley's daily behaviour, Branson suing the NHS, Jeff Bezos and the treatment of Amazon staff. Why would anyone think Vince would act any differently now? To be honest, I'd be more surprised if he hadn't done this.
  4. I've looked into it a little more. Going by their most recent financial report (issued on 6 February 2020 and can be found here: https://corporate.wwe.com/investors/news/press-releases/2020/02-06-2020-132933376), they had $250 million in cash, plus $200 million in debt capacity. Sounds a lot of money, but when they're unable to run any live shows, merchandise sales will have taken a hammering, the loss of Mania and still having to pay Goldberg, Brock and co for going to the Performance Center with no income from it, I can understand why they've chopped the number of people they have.

I'm not trying to defend their actions at all, just saying that when you run a huge multi-national business with an enormous wage bill and shareholders, that money might not last very long.

Yeah, throwing shade at Goldberg or other part timers really just takes everyone's attention off the main issue, which is that WWE have $500 million in cash reserves and regardless were still set to turn a decent profit at the end of the year. A mass culling of your employees during a major pandemic when you are financially capable of keeping them is incredibly callous no matter how you try to spin it.

Just a quick point of order: it's not half a billion in cash. It's a mixture of money in the bank (pun not intended, just a happy accident) and available debt facilities, such as overdrafts, Vince's credit card, etc.

  6. There was a wrestling Genius called Lanny

Whose gift for grappling and poems was uncanny

He beat Hogan one Saturday Night on NBC

Before guiding to greatness the Brothers Beverly

And held the NWA Gulf Coast Tag Team Championship with the Macho Man-ny

I hated this finish.  In one on one matches, when a guy applies a figure four, and his opponent's shoulders are on the mat, the ref counts and the opponent has to kick out.  So why in the above scenario did Barrett's shoulders being down only count for Axel winning, and not Miz too?  Surely they should have shared the pinfall and the win?

Because The Miz's shoulders aren't on the mat for the full three count. When realises the ref is counting, he twists onto his side to try and break up the pin.

  8. Quick Mrs Grecian update:

She told her boss she was unwilling to work whilst on furlough. His answer was everyone else was willing to (not a surprise, he pays crap money and is a bit of a nob, so most of the workers are recent graduates who don't know much about work and the law until they realise they can make more money elsewhere and leave).

She refused to cave, so he's now switched her to three weeks on, three weeks off furlough. She stops work on Wednesday for three weeks.

  9. It really doesn't feel like Mania season at all, does it? Every year since about 1990, I've been hugely excited, watching all the previous Mania on VHS or DVD, fantasy booking results and post Mania season, the big debut on the Raw After Mania...

    This year, nothing.

  10. She's spoken to a couple of her workmates and they've decided as a group not to work while furloughed. The company isn't topping up her pay, its a small company owned by one arsehole. My shout is he wants to keep it running spending as little money as possible (to be fair, I totally understand why he's doing it) but a lot of them are very unhappy at being put in such a shit position.

At least it's not just her now. Thanks for the advice, chaps.

  11. It's a small company and all their work has been cancelled, but once everything goes back to normal, they'll be okay. She in charge of ordering stock and parts and dealing with customers, so if she ignores her emails while on furlough, the company is screwed. Plus her boss is an arse, so while she's not being directly asked to work, there's a strong chance it'll be held against her if she doesn't.

  12. So Mrs Grecian has been put on furlough, as of 1st April as part of the Government scheme. However, she works for a small company, and the owner has said he'd 'appreciate it enormously if people continued to work while on furlough'. All the paperwork she's been given states that she shouldn't work.

Does anyone know if the Government will be running checks on this? If she does get caught out, is it on her or the company?
