  1. I dunno, I thought the Punk/MJF promo went on a good bit too long. MJF basically repeating himself and Punk slagging him off by comparing him to lad from another company that he's still jealous of. Apart from his return night, Punk's done nothing for me. Stale as feck. There was a hellish hint of something initially with Kingston, but it's not re-emerged.

Polar opposite of Bryan who just gets better and was great again last night. Just the little touches, like doing the flex pose before locking in the la belle lock on Cabana, are so good.

  2. You have to pass through that airport style security going to big arenas in the states don't you? (did in Boston Celtic's arena anyway) so at least that reduces the chances of some nutter having a weapon on him. Mad though, they should definitely get that muscly lad with the goatee and beret back who did attitude era security.

Disappointed I didn't hear Becky mouth, "get the fuck out of my ring!" while Charlotte was doing her post-loss HHH impression.

No doubt these two bring the best of each other though. A real competitive edge that makes them stand out when everything else is so sanitised. I skipped to the main event and it was the opposite. Slow, plodding and predictable. Nothing wrong with "WWE style" per say - it's safe and clean. But it's jarring how precise and patterned it is when you haven't watched in while.

Caught Lynch's pre and post-match promos this week too, and it was like a flashback to the Becky that drew me back into wrestling in 2018. Fiery babyface promos wrapped up in reality and real emotion. It's ridiculous that she's going to have to revert back to her cornball heel shtick on Monday. What's the point of this laborious 'heel' shit anyway? She certainly isn't helping to elevate anyone. Poor Liv Morgan didn't stand a chance and now Becky's stolen her wardrobe.

But yeah, my biggest takeaway was just how fucking awful the canned heat is. 100% atmosphere killer. That weird, ambient din that smothers the audio makes it feel like I'm watching a PS2 exhibition match rather than a live wrestling event. Unwatchable on almost every level.

If anything the robotic commentary on those PS2 games was far less irritating than the robotic commentary of the current show. I never thought they'd find someone more annoying than that Ranallo lad, but then they went and got McAfee. Bravo.

  4. I watched Vince's egg segment and it's basically just Vince incoherently mumbling while gesturing to a golden egg. Bloody hilarious. Amazing that nobody will even attempt to point out obviously terrible ideas anymore to him, even Reigns who's pretty much untouchable.

  5. "I've got access to Vince, but he don't wanna see me!"

Jaysus though, he's the third fiddle behind Ace and that tosser Prichard. Prichard's return to the top yes man role after being banished to Conrad land for years is incredible. He must know the exact right things to say that still trigger faint memories in Vince's demented mind.

  6. Maybe he just got got fucked off with the business or people on indies are scared to hire him after that Tough Enough stuff. He was always a solid worker with a good look and no rep for messing up/passing out etc all drugged up.

  7. Was going to pay for the hardcover & was really looking forward to reading it. But after reading bits online & hearing its (disappointingly) random blog post like in format, I nicked it off Z Library instead.

  8. Taker turning heel on JR in JR's hometown in 2001 was pretty good. Teenage me didn't see it coming anyway. Was the first promo Taker cut since his cowboy return that wasn't filled with all his 'Muh yard, I'm the big dog' generic shite. Vince's facial expressions are also priceless.

  9. Been frequenting the Asian supermarkets and trying out all the different gyoza/dumpling things in the airfryer ever since having them in a restaurant the other week. Pork & Kimchi ones seem to have won this week anyway!

I mean I get that Brexit was the result of a referendum (democracy, the will of the people - as small as that margin was) but it just isn’t working. I know it’s early days but I can’t see a single benefit to Brexit that is going to improve the lives of the people of Britain. I can’t think of any long term benefits either. I know that Labour are respecting the result of the referendum but there may come a time where you have to say enough is enough and put another EU Referendum in your manifesto. If Brexit keeps going as disastrously as it has been for the next three years, then it could cost the Tories dearly at the next election. Even if Labour are still a shambles who need to sort themselves out.

That's fairly presumptuous thinking that the EU would even be arsed taking the UK back into the European Union. If anything they'll use ye as an example to any other EU nations who get itchy feet that countries can't just come and go as they please.

If ye do eventually get back it will surely mean adopting the Euro as currency, which will not go down well with the Brexit folk in particular who'll spin it as surrendering sovereignty and all that craic.

She suffers from exactly the same issue as Charlotte does a lot of the time - not even having a real character and just being thrown out there as one of the Four Horsewomen and expecting the crowds to lap it up.

In fact I'm not sure they ever really tried to explain what being "The Boss" was anytime on the main roster. She was just there and we were told she was amazing and that was that.

It's frustrating because it's actually something that's incredibly easy to fix. All it takes is a vignette here and there. Doesn't need to be ridiculously in depth but at least it gives more character and more motivation.

Nah Cole shouting 'its Boss Time' every time she makes an entrance is clearly enough character development, otherwise they would have thought of something different in what feels like the decade she's been on TV for!

  12. The chicken shit heel run he had when he cashed in MITB on big Mizark was great. I fully expected him to be the first lad to cash in and lose the briefcase too (think Barrett or Sandow hold that honour.) Though Bryan probably wouldn't get away with constantly telling AJ Lee to shut up in this day and age!

  13. He's just a lovely, genuine chap and a phenomenal wrestler. To go from Vince initially hating him 'because he doesn't even eat meat' to being allowed be the eco WWE Champion with a world title belt made from organic hemp is some achievement.

I met him at a WWE autograph signing years ago before he got the initial main event run and got him to sign my wrestling road diaries DVD instead of whatever WWE PPV DVD they were insisting you got signed/bought. He laughed when I pulled the switcheroo, read the back of the road diaries box and chatted away for a good minute or two about the fun they had making it. Just a good lad!

  14. Up watching the BT highlights for some reason. Balor had a decent little promo/segment backstage where he said who his family are compared to Reigns, how he should never have made it this far but he has cos of the fire inside him and who Roman will face at Extreme Rules (The Demon) has even hotter fires burning inside him. Twas a grand little segment with Finn looking cool in his leather jacket, which was then ruined by them badly CGI'ing the demon face onto Balor to wrap it up. Just needlessly over produced shite.

Didn’t flights have to land early or detour on more than one occasion due to drugged wrestlers being very unpleasant or having overdosed, there was one with Regal and one with Hawk if I remember right. Wasn't Gordy on a flight when he first fell into a coma too?

    Aye, story according to Regal:

    Quote

"I was rather 'out West' on booze. I went into the plane toilet and I had my foot in the door, which hadn't shut. I was relieving myself when the hostess tapped me on the shoulder and I spun round. Next thing I know I wake up in a jail cell, in Anchorage, Alaska, when I should have been in Detroit. I had no memory of why I was there. I was in an orange jump suit and was handcuffed to another guy and taken to court. They were going along the line of prisoners reading out charges. I was laughing, thinking, 'This is all a terrible mistake'. Then they read my charge out: 'Urinating on a flight attendant.'"

  16. Dreamer doing his attempt at the serious face saying the cabin crew lady shouldn't have taken the settlement if she was so upset is fucking nauseating. What an absolute tosser, I'm glad his most memorable run in WWE was drinking barbicide & eating Taker's chewing tobacco. Cunt.

You can see why JR has had such a long and successful career in the business too, he's very cute/clever at being two faced.

Is he though? He's great but he's very different. Heyman's done a fantastic job with Roman and continues to do so. I imagine it's very much down to personal preference but I think they're both at the top of their game at the moment.

Heyman has been saying/acting the same way for about a decade at this stage, on TV anyway. Probably not his fault, just more laziness on WWE's part and him wanting an easy life.
