  1. Having a newly minted babyface spit in the face of the heel and then run away was never going to work. Orton's legs as face were done from the very start by Triple H. He was over as fuck as the cool heel coming out of beating Benoit for the title, but he must not have worn enough leather and denim combos for Trips liking.

  2. NES was our first. Myself and my brother got it as a Christmas present from my uncle Niall. He took us on a ferry to Hollyhead near Christmas time as a treat (how easy we were to please back in those days!) and we were allowed set it up on Christmas eve because he'd gotten pissed on horrible Sheridans crap version of Baileys liqeur and was feeling charitable. Endless hours of Mario and Duck Hunt were had on it.

We sold it a year or two later to a lad down the road we didn't really like (and who died in a stolen car crash that tipped into the canal a few years later) and used some of the money to buy a Mega Drive after playing FIFA, again on my uncles one. We had the smaller Mega Drive 2 as opposed to his original one. The FIFA that you could make say 'goal, goal, goal' in an annoying American accent by tapping the a button when you scored was my favourite. Remember renting Desert Storm loads on it, as well as the Beavis and Butthead game. My brother had an obsession with a game called 'Cool Spot' which I couldn't really understand. Had a decent soundtrack to it at least. Streets of Rage was probably my favourite on it.

My ma's then new boyfriend bribed us with a PS1 in early 1997, him having knocked up my ma which ended my 10 year run as the youngest kid in the family. He turned out to be a very decent sort and is involved with running the Irish homeless world cup teams these days in his retirement. We had FIFA 97 (with the indoor football) and Porsche Challenge at the start but very quickly built up a huge collection. I'd say the PS1 hindered my schooling to a big degree as my brother moved out to go to college and it was left solely in my custody. G Police, Nightmare Creatures, FIFA 98 with the Blur intro and LMA Manager was where I got my education in those days by pretending to be sick or by just waiting for my Ma to go to work and letting myself back in. We were all very surprised when the truant policeman showed up and the PS1 was taken away for a few weeks as punishment.

I got a PS2 in 2001 and was obsessed with GTA, Smackdown Know Your Role and later the Medal of Honor games. I also loved the Black Hawk Down game even though it was fairly shite. Worlds Scariest Police Chases the game (voiced by THE Sherriff John Bunnell) was another naff favourite. Then when I disovered the fifa obliterating Pro Evo series I was again hooked and returned to my mitching from school ways. I was 15/16 at this stage and miserable in an all boys school, and npbody was really bothered. No police calling anyway.

PS2 was last console I played with any affection. I tried with an Xbox 360 in the mid 00's but ended it up using it mainly for netflix and my friends Sky account that he left logged in. In covid boredom I bought the Xbox Series S in 2021 where you buy all the games online, but other than a few spins on Flight Sim and giving Fifa a go I wasn't using it. So gave it to kids club that was looking after a rake of Ukranian kids in the summer of 2022. The latest gens just seem too complicated, daunting and online focussed. I'm not arsed getting hockeyed by a folul mouthed 11 year old American on FIFA or whatever. I get enough abuse at work!

Ooh, that's a good tip. I've not listened to Stanhope's podcast in years. It all got a bit too much and sporadic but when I last left it, it was like a live redneck EastEnders for weeks on end.

Aye, I'd be a very sporadic listener but still subscribed. Any episode with Stanhope's manager Brian Hennigan (very interesting and dry sense of humour) or a decent guest I'll still listen to though. Regal episode was a good listen, show'd what the Matt Koon idiot could have dragged out of Regal if he had any clue or backbone!

  4. I thought she'd been sacked ages ago. I vaguely remember vignettes repackaging her from the southern belle type to an ass kicking single mom soldier and then she sorta vanished from TV. Granted I only watched Raw/SD regularly about 4 times this year.

  5. Fair play to her if she gets more money for less work. She'd clean up on the indies/conventions for a while to supliment it too. Then head off to grift Tony out of a few quid for good measure before Triple H inevitably recalls her, judging by the dullards he's let back in thus far.

If you had Bryan at the top of the card constantly, you'd inevitably have people moaning about them pushing him over the homegrown stars anyway. So they probably can't win really.

But he's not there to be champion or one of the top guys. He's there to wrestle and if that's what he wants to do then better to invest time in others that want that more prominent role.

Nah, I don't think anyone with sense would bemoan Bryan being top of the card, likeable as a face and a great smarmy heel He was a bigger star than Punk in WWE, and if Khan brought him in (on big money presumably) to not to be a top guy then he's a moron.

Dicking about with the dullard BCC was beneath him, BCC was shite to begin with.

  7. "Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs asked county employees to work at his home while they were on the clock, pressured a department head to lie to state investigators and cursed at him when he wouldn’t do it, according to a federal lawsuit the county settled by agreeing to pay $150,000 to former parks and recreation director Paul White."

  8. I dislike Lidl, it just comes across as knock off version of Aldi. My one has replaced all but 2 tills with self checkouts which means a quick pop in for a donut and a sambo at lunch turns into a 25 minute nightmare no matter if you go for the normal checkout or the self scan. Always some loud video taking cunt being held by security for not paying for their shop properly too. If you're going to dodge the self scans at least do it in M&S or somewhere fancier!

  9. Was Alexa Bliss not the witch? I remember her knocking about with Bray during the Fiends last abysmal run. I have zero hope Wyatt can be interesting even in the short term once his return buzz burns off. Too hard a character to translate into wrestling actual matches and keeping things together, even with Vince gone. As a one night hype/intrigue return it was built up really well though.

  10. The whole ignoring Bryan's popularity in 2014 thing was surely Vince refusing to give in to fans. as was his want. Sami was a H NXT lad, so hopefully that means we get what we all want come Mania time. Phenominal segment and very well rounded show overall.

  11. Saw Doug Stanhope in the Olympia in Dublin there last week, tickets I'd had since 2019 and also first stand up I actually had good seats for, 3rd row. Was really good at off the cuff stuff but was struggling to translate some of his material for non US audience, which is understandable really. Was 1st night of Euro tour so assume he'll work out things from then on. Still cool seeing him though and audience was surprisingly not full of drunken hecklers trying to be funny either!

  12. Good show again this week. Sami is gold, as he has been for months. I'm not at all arsed with Braun being back, his chance of the big time has long gone at this stage but I suppose it never hurts to have a proper big lad knocking about..

  13. He also had a story of his time from TNA. Foley and JB flew out to film a vignette with Lou Ferrigno. After filming, Ferrigno's wife came over and asked for payment. Foley had to pay Lou out of his own money (2 or 3 grand)  as TNA hadn't paid him in advance. Tooks weeks for Foley to get re-imbursed by TNA as well.

Regals passion was in what he was doing before he went to America. Deep down I don’t believe he sees it as being the same kinda job. He just did it for the money and got on with whatever he had to do. His careers too mid card for a long format pod

Nash pod was pretty weak this episode, made sense at the end when he let on he was stoned out his box

Aye I heard great love on here for Nash's pod so gave latest edition a go. One word answers to most of the questions and gaps of nothing. I didn't listen to the end, so makes sense he was fucked up on something.

The Nash host is great though, he could work wonders on Regal's pod in place of the dullard who just says 'Mr. Regal ' all the time.

  15. Swagger or Zigglers were obviously duds as I remember none of either run bar the cash in.

Bryan's first World Title run as an obnoxious heel (telling AJ to shut up, beginnings of the heel Yes chanting) was good fun. The 18 second loss to Sheamo at Mania was memorable too and kinda helped him in the long run, though I seriously doubt that was by design.
