  1. Barring Khan whacking down enormous  money I'd say he'll get a handy part time contract (with option of Japan/Mexico/UK if he wants) and stick about the fed. He's a smart lad and knows where his bread is buttered.

Unrelated, but has anyone noticed Bryan is featured on the coca cola TV ads?  Thought I was seeing things, but he's doing his yes point thing at the very start of it.

  2. I dunno I sort of just knew I suppose. I never knew the inner workings til I stumbled upon power slam when I was 11 or 12 when the newsagents didn't have my usual raw or wwf magazine in stock. Then my mind was warped by Fin Martin and I became an annoying teenage know-it-all for a few years.

  3. That one legged Zach Gowen lad. Could have been a great overcoming the odds story to win a title, but he was in and gone in a few months, never even got him in one of the videogames of the day! Thankfully his memory will live on forever thanks to that vignette of Brock hoofing him down the stairs.

Modern day WWE would cream themselves for the social media likes he'd generate.

  4. Has to be Joe wanted to wrestle again and they weren't having it. Kay was naturally funny but WWE naturally aren't, so that was never going to work. Peyton probably did herself no favours with that crap 'shoot' promo a while back and besides having a nice bottom (but then again don't they all) is no real loss.

I don't know Green, Tucker or Blake & Bo did well to remain employed for so long.

  5. I haven't watched an episode of Raw since about 2006 and have no intention of watching the current one, but still enjoy coming on here and reading how badly the current iteration is going and the obvious ways it could be improved.

I think deep down I'm hoping to come on here one Tuesday afternoon and read that they've finally cracked it, Kevin Dunn has been drowned in a vat of toothpaste and Raw is must watch (or even just watchable) again. It's the hope that gets you I suppose!

  6. Jesus, that was a pitch perfect fantastically executed promo by Bryan that explained everything behind his motivation for Mania, didn't belittle his opponents either & hyped the shit out of the match. I would bet money it wasn't written by a team of writers or mad auld Vince either. Great stuff.

The ship is probably too big for anyone to jump off, unfortunately. I’d still be happy with guys fighting on top of it though and suddenly breaking out into a sword fight or throwing canons and treasure chests at each other.

Kairi Sane never got her big moment! Heartbreaking!

Is Paul Burchill still in the business? could break out that rope entrance one last time sure.

  8. I enjoyed Edge's rise up the babyface ranks after the initial roster split (winning tag titles with Hogan & Rey, great feuds with Angle, Eddie & Jericho) but then he got the bad neck injury & was gone the guts of a year. They brought him back with no hype as a bland face and he floundered until the shite with Lita/Matt which turned him mega heel and led to the title win and the entertaining feuds with Foley, Cena & Flair as well as the brief team with Orton.

He was grand for a while after that but once that ran its course  & they split him and Lita & they tried it again with Vickie (to diminishing returns) I always felt he was fairly meh and more a top midcarder rather than a proper main eventer. Only proper feud I can remember after that was the Taker Mania one with Ryder & Hawkins as his goons and the rest sort of blurs into sameness beyond that for me. It was nice seeing his return at the Rumble last year, but I had no appetite to see him as regularly like they've ended up doing.

  9. I only watch the Edge/Bryan/Roman bits every and think they've made it work pretty well in the end. The set up and execution this week was very good for modern WWE standards. As long as they don't  do something daft like put the belt on Edge and the in arena fans at Mania shite all over it then I'd chalk it up as a success. Its the only match I've any interest in at Mania anyway, barring a Brock return.

  10. I watched the OSW of the simulcast recently and the amount of backstage vignettes of Vince and Trish shite talking WCW that aired on Nitro didn't bode well for the Invasion angle straight out the gate. Crazy times. I don't think Bischoff would have made great shakes of things if his attempt at buying WCW had have been successful, but it certainly would have been better than the undignified death WCW suffered under WWF control. Even poxy ECW managed tribute PPV's  & an attempted revival under WWF control and they were a very niche brand compared to what WCW were.

  11. Mixed up paperwork when I was new in my previous job (courts) that ended up with a guy being released on bail when he shouldn't have been. Not believing his good fortune, he went out and stole a car, took a chase involving the helicopter and armed police and ended up crashing and having to be tasered before being arrested again. Thankfully he hurt nobody but himself, and that was just minor bruises/scrapes. I hated that job from that day on and triple checked every bit of paperwork before signing off on it.

  12. Didn't Russo during his spectacularly short lived return to WWE creative in 02/03 want to turn The Rock gay? I remember reading something to that effect in Power Slam at the time. I'm sure it would have been done in very good taste too.

Ozark is good enough. It never reaches the highs of great tv like The Soprano’s or even Breaking Bad (the show it’s lazily compared to) but it’s a solid 3-4/5 show. It’s Jason Bateman’s show but Laura Linney ain’t no slouch.

One show I’d probably avoid in the suburbanite goes in to crime sub genre is Your Honor. It’s by no means terrible and has some good moments when Cranston and Stuhlbarg are interacting but it’s mostly a miss for me. Stupid characters who are meant to be so so clever doing the dumbest things and a wasted supporting cast. Stuhlbarg does some great DeNiro gurning in it though.

Cranston's son in it is one of the most annoying/thick characters I can think of in any show. No redeemable qualities to speak of for someone the audience is supposed to feel sorry for. I wanted to punch the screen every time his idiotic weasily little face appeared. Cranston was grand as was the De Niro tribute act. Just a meh show though, absolutely nothing beneath the surface.
