  1. It just doesn't feel like a nuclear wasteland. You can't go 20 seconds without bumping into something or someone. For me the lack of atmosphere is a massive detriment. In 3 there was nothing like feeling like you were in the middle of nowhere and then spotting a building what seemed to be a mile away and just having to go explore.

My problem with 3 was i spent far too much time walking around never bumping into anything. So i found this to be a big improvement. But it's all a personal preference thing. I've enjoyed 4 far more than 3 and have put more hours into it thus far than 90% of games i've ever played. So if nothing else i feel i've got good value for money out of it. And the DLC has been decent thus far.

  2. yeh, im not a fan of that. At a big show it's kinda cool cause it's a bit of a spectacle, but bands doing it any small ass show is just stupid. Slipknot did it first to my knowlegde. It's like the bastard wall of death.

A circle pit and wall of death at the Key Club in Leeds was something to behold.. Very odd.. Such a small venue.

  3. The sitting down and jumping up thing is done by a bunch of bands, including Crossfaith the other night. Frank Turner has used it for years too and it happens at about 90% of his shows. Slipknot have been doing it pretty much all the time for as long as i can remember. I'm sure there's probably a bunch more.

  4. Yeh i got Placebo tickets too, Newport for me.

    I'll be at HRH too.

5 HRH events all in all for us this year. HRH United/Hammerfest (was ace!), HRH AOR on the Road, HRH Doom vs HRH Stoner, Hard Rock Hell, HRH NWOBHM.

Picking up tix for Ash when they go on sale today, always a fun live band and a good throwback to my younger days lol. Plus £15 isnt at all steep. So would be rude not to.

Crossfaith were awesome last night, their shows are always so high energy. Tiny little venue in Leeds too, doubt we'll see them in venues that small again for a long time. Support from the Qemists wasn't too bad. Not a huge fan or anything, but a fitting support. Second time i've seen them in the past week or so, as they closed HammerFest..

  5. I pay $9.99 a month and feel i get that much value out it easily per month. So i won't be cancelling. The reason i'm still paying in $s rather than £s is my account was setup at launch, so didnt bother messing with it. I still like to watch PPVs live, and enjoy NXT and some of the new original content (Breaking Ground, podcasts, 24). So paying around £7-7.50 a month for that isn't too steep at all.

  6. Well Hammerfest was a ton of fun as normal. Great sets from Turisas, Quireboys, and Exodus. Cradle of Filth played a blinder yet the room was pretty much empty compared to Turisas earlier that day. But i ended up with a setlist which Dani signed for me. Surprise of the weekend was Trollfest who were epic. Detoured on the way home to catch the Tidal show in Leeds with Ricochet, Chuck Taylor, and Chris Dickinson. So a good weekend all in all.

  7.

At UK tapings there was always a guy in a Superman outfit in the front row. I found him on twitter and cringed so hard I nearly turned inside out. Such a mark for himself. He goes by the name 'WWE Superman' I think.

That plank turned up at one of the PCW weekenders a year or so back.

He asked a question at the Q n' A session starting with "You might know me; I'm The Official WWE Superman". The wrestlers (and much of the audience) looked like they wanted to kill him.

He then was handing out these personalised business cards he'd had printed with his Twitter account on to other fans. Most people just didn't know what the fuck was going on.

I was watching that Q&A from the crows nest area in the venue and was so embarrassed for him I ran off to the green screen room. Awful.

I remember him handing out his "Official WWE Superman" business cards all weekend too. Wasnt he asked to leave at some point during the after party for getting drunk and acting like an utter bellend?

  8. I've got the time off work sorted, just been waiting for the lineup to take shape to make a definate choice.

But yeah, Evil Scarecrow were great last time they played there. Having a field full of metal heads scuttling around like Dr Zoidberg was a great moment

That was a hell of a site from the stage lol. This year's lineup look great to me. While some are complaining over recent repeats like Slayer, Anthrax, and Evil Scarecrow. I don't get the attitude. Availability of bands plays heavily into who is booked and i'd sooner have these 3 bands back than have lesser bands just for the sake of being different. I spoke to Vicki Hungerford about it last year and they can only book bands who are actively touring around the time of the festival (it's way too much to fly in a band and all their kit just to do BOA). And they have to balance the lineup so that it's financially successful also. The amount of crap some people throw at her makes me a little ashamed to be a metal fan at times. She's a lovely woman who works her ass off all year round so we can go play in a field for 4 days. Personally i think she's nailed it again this year.

Wednesday 13 is the next gig for me and the Mrs. The acoustic set should be a lot of fun.

  9. Looks like they've just removed all the older stuff that's either sold out or no longer available.  They've done the same on the DVD page.

Though it looks like they've removed some of the pre-order stuff too - there's been a 'Best of Dave Mastiff' DVD on there for months, never actually got to the stage of being released, but now it's gone.

Can't comment on the older back catalogue titles. But in regards to new stuff, i know they've increased staff as far as the production of BDs/DVDs goes recently in order to get them out faster but to the same high standards. More shows per year has resulted in a lot more work on that front, which stands to reason given the much larger number of shows compared to 18 months ago. I imagine they are focussing on the backlog of footage they have filmed but not out yet right now to get current. But thats just speculation on my part as i have no links to the promotion.

Have any of you seen the first PCW Academy show? I found the show to be a lot of fun and will be looking forward to future shows.

  10. That's not Chris Duke or any of the other two organisers is it? The guy on the far right is Bravehart I think, the Scottish shitarse who runs SWE in Dundee.

Duke is involved with SWE, or at least was. Those shirts were never officially sold at any of the events. So he is definitely involved in the photo's creation.

  11.

Whatever happened to the original Ministry of Slam podcast? That was pretty popular over here in terms of wrestling podcasts right? But it kinda just died from what I recall?

Weren't they the people behind the cluster duck nWo meet and greet? I imagine they went into hiding after screwing so many people over.

Only in hiding until they feel enough time has passed to do comedy "fuck you all, we got away with it" photos..

  12. He just needs someone to go up against, since Lesnar was champion he's just promoted Lesnar constantly, hopefully we get some Bray Wyatt/Heyman battles in the next month or two.

Heyman vs Bray promo battles are something i've hoped for a lot for the past couple of years. Those 2 could sell any angle if given enough time, so should be great.

  13. Just completed Castlevania Symphony of the Night.. Again. Think thats 8x i've done this now. Game never gets old. Wish they'd release a sequel that's true to this rather than the 3D stuff or the dodgy one with the zooming in and out. Never played it, but that put me off big time.

  14. My one criticism of this month's box was the figure. The box was a little bashed up. This isn't great if you are the type that likes to collect these kinds of things. Are there any plans to include US indy content in the crates? While i appreciate you want to include UK content in the boxes, i'm sure many, like myself, would appreciate content from promotions we don't get to see a lot of live.

  15. Finally home after a long couple of days. We did the Def Leppard, Whitesnake, and Black Star Riders show in Manchester on Tuesday. Then headed down to Wembley for the meet and greet gimmick before Takeover. Me and the Mrs were 2nd row ringside, so can't complain about the view at all. Such a great show to be in the arena for. Crowd were hot, and most of the matches were pretty great. the HHH thing didn't bother me all that much. I guess i just see it as him trying to use his own star to say NXT is something special. I liked the fact he waved off the "Triple H, Triple H" chant that started in the arena. And i don't think he overstayed his welcome. I'm a big Uhaa fan, but it wasn't a great showing from him. To be honest, he seemed a step off from the moment he hit the stairs. Definitely seemed more legit and not a work. Great effort by Corbin throughout, easily the best he's ever looked.
