  1. Saint Vitus had been over here already not too long before then, I'm sure of it. I imagine most would have already seen them so even fans would go watch 'Corpse.

I was at Vitus lol. But then i much prefer Vitus to Corpse and i'd heard rumors they'd be playing BOA, which turned out to be true. So i get Corpse this year.

  2. Just bought this lovely little limited edition set, so will be watching it just as soon as it arrives! A bit steep at £125, but i loved this show, so having it in legit 1080 HD is ace. Even if it does need to be imported from Korea lol. Set has both the English dub and English subs as an option though. Each case within the main box has a nice lenticular slipcase, as does the main box. So they've put some effort in to it.

  3. We always used to camp in Hel, but then we arrived last year and found someone had planted a bunch of trees in there and the campsite was about half the size and full already. So we pitched up the top corner of Midgard also. Pretty quiet weekend, much less in the way of bin jousting this year, but i got the feeling security were well prepared for that this year.

Loving this tune at the moment. Actually got to watch them play this from the side of the stage at Bloodstock last year. Fun times.

  4. The thing is that the main 2 camp sites tended to be full of overly excited teenagers, but the other sites were a bit more sedate.

Agreed. The main campsites at Download are not my cup of tea, but plenty of nice places to camp for an enjoyable weekend.

Oh yeah, the one Family Guy reference too. That gets annoying. Long gone are the days when the shouting had a theme. Once at Leeds Festival we had a name an old wrestler theme, which then somehow change to old Footballers and someone broke all of us by shouting "TONY CASCARINO!"

Leeds festival is the one festival i really have no love for camping at. The Monday morning of Leeds Fest is always like a warzone. Tents on firs all over, gas canisters being dumped on fires etc etc. It's nowhere near as bad as it once was. But it's just not a fest where camping adds to the experience. 2002 will always be the Leeds i remember most with the hugs police presence, massive fires and riot.

  5. If you've never been to a festival you might want to give the camping a go, it can have its fun moments among the undeniable horrible aspects of it.

I'll second this. I wouldn't enjoy the festivals half as much without the camping. It just adds a lot to the whole experience.

  6.

I really want to go to Roadburn next year, it's usually a great mix of doom metal and weird electronic artists and next yeah they've got Goblin scoring both Susperia and Dawn of the Dead.

I never want to listen to them as I'll no doubt be a bit disappointed but this band name really stuck out...

Was checking out the Hellfest lineup and came across some gems as far as names go.. 'Prostitute Disfigurement' and 'Cock and Ball Torture' had to be my favourites.

  7. According to Twitter, there are an awful lot of rumours that the following will not be at Raw tomorrow night...

    Ambrose

    Wyatt

    Ziggler

    Kane

    Cesaro

    Usos

    Dusts

    Orton (i knew that though)

Ive got a ticket and im not happy. The main event is Cena v Ryback and with the wrestlers that arnt going to be there i can only imagine Cena/Ryback will be a double Iron Man Match.

    Not happy.

Ambrose vs Wyatt & Kane, Ziggler vs Cesaro, and the Usos vs the Dusts were all on the house show i attended tonight. So i wouldn't be at all surprised if those guys are all booked if they're doing a house show tomorrow as well as Raw.

  8. Fun house show in Leeds tonight, wasn't planning to go, but scored 2 floor seats for £35 a piece. Eden did a great job and seems as great as she was on NXT, so i see a good future for her. Match of the night had to go to the Usos vs The Dusts, just a fun back and forth action packed match. Reaction for Ambrose was huge given the small crowd (LOTS of empty seats tonight compared to the last time i did a WWE show there this time last year). Ryback got a good reaction too, and the crowd was eating him up. So it seems the injury was possibly the best thing that could have happened to him. His return to 'no bullshit, no thrills babyface who smashes heels' is already begining to gan traction. If they handle it right they could end up getting him over huge again.

  9. Going to the Biffy Clyro / Slash MTV gig tomorrow in Glasgow. Would it be rude if I left after Slash played? That is assuming they'll be on first. I'm just not a fan of Biffy Clyro at all. What's the forum's perception of Biffy?

I've seen Biffy twice, sub-headlining at Download and headlining at Leeds. Enjoyed them both times. But its a bit like Marmite, i think youeeither love them or you hate them. But with a decent crowd its a lot of fun. Big sounding anthems are perfect for a festival. Have never seen them on a small stage though.

  10. Drowning Pool are very much like Soil in that they basically forged a career based on one song...one song has allowed them to tour the world for the last 10-15 years, pretty crazy when you think about it. Ironically the Soil singer obviously had a stint in Drowning Pool at point as well.

I'm a fan of Drowning Pool and enjoyed them last  time i saw them, but still find it funny so many people talk about 'Bodies'. Great tune from a great album. But that was vocalist #1. They're currently on #4. Not that the vocalist is bad, as he isnt. But when most talk about 'Bodies' they are thinking of that tune as it was when released. Same with 'Step Up' actually, that was vocalist #2. Then the 'Rise Up' Smackdown theme was vocalist #2 or #3, depending on which version you listen to. So all of these songs will sound different to how folks remember them with the new vocalist.

Vocalist #3 was Ryan McCombs of SOiL, who i think is fantastic, but sadly had a stroke this week. Luckily it was caught early, but time will tell how much of a recovery he will make as relates to possibly carrying on his career.

  11. Haha. To bring it back on a wrestling topic, my main worry about the Network being on broadcast TV here is the problems it will create for people like myself and truthofsin:

You need to be covered by a licence if you watch TV online at the same time as it's being broadcast on conventional TV in the UK or the Channel Islands

Technically, at that point, if we watched the live stream online, we'd need a TV Licence. Although currently I do wonder if I'm watching Hell In A Cell on the US network feed and it's on Sky Box Office -whether that currently counts.

It's a grey area for sure and i'm sure an argument could be made for bothe needing and not needing a licence in this case. I mean if you're watching a show live which is broadcasting live on another stream in the UK. Does watching the non-UK stream really get around the law? Also, where do things stand if you start watching the PPV stream from the begining 10 mins after it started? You are not watching it live, so what's the score there given it's still the same stream?

For what it's worth i never watch the live WWE Network stream. And i watch the PPVs on the Monday, as it avoids a late night and i can easily avoid spoilers for those few hours due to being asleep. I woke up at 4am to watch to watch the last few. So pretty much as soon as they finish i watch. Much like i watch any BBC shows after they have finished airing and pop up on iPlayer.

The law is likely to change at some stage, as more and more people are discovering the fact you do not need a licence to have a wide range of programming at your disposal. But for now it's a good chunk of money saved. Between Hulu Plus, all the versions of Netflix, iPlayer, 4OD etc.. There isn't a lot i don't have access too. And those i don't i buy in disc form.

  12. I find it incredibly confusing. The writers and head honcho's just seem so fucking lazy when it comes to the actual content of the shows. In terms of production, marketing etc. they are world class masters but when it comes to actually writing a couple of shows each week they seem to do the bare minimum. I've tried to pinpoint when it got like this but I can't. Maybe around 2010? I just can't believe that on Tuesday mornings people like Triple H, Vince McMahon and Michael Hayes or whoever wake up and say "that was a great show, I'd watch all 3 hours of that if I was a wrestling fan".

HHH does a great job with NXT without the big writing team and Vince. So it does make you wonder how the main show would be under a similar model of HHH in charge with a couple of creative guys (in NXT's case i assume these are the agents).
