  1. I'm not sure it's fair to say no prior convictions Louch. Some of them have convictions for other things that would perhaps not make them ideal for training juniors. One of them was passed over by WWE because of his criminal record.

  2. They wouldn't because there hasn't been a CRB check for over 5 years. Its a DBS, it's similar but not the same.

And in response to your original post. If there was a legal framework for wrestling and the promoter you are talking about complied with it then he would be able to show that evidence to the venue and there wouldn't be a problem.

It's only if these whiter than white promoters you know do something about it that things will change, as like I said the chances of the law been enforced are slim.

  3. The thing is @theringmaster that training schools are not separate from the rest of the business. I have been to loads of shows in the last 20 years and at pretty much all of them trainees would be helping to set the ring up and then if there was a rumble they would be in it. Wrestling is a shit business. It needs cleaning up. Attitudes like yours are part of the problem and the only way it will change is by some some sort of legislation because wrestling will never change itself. Its unlikely to happen but it should.

  4. The attitude that's the problem is yours. You make out that having a DBS and proper accountability is some kind of "Suffering"  when all it is is common human decency which you don't seem to have any of. Paramedics have a DBS. Teachers have a DBS. Child minders have a DBS, but Johnny Kickpadz Wrestling trainer he's fine, he doesn't need a DBS because it's unfair to him. Its not his fault that other trainer turned out to be a kiddy fiddler.  Then him and the wrestler Frankie Flipbump are going to run a week long wrestling camp in the school holidays. They are going to spend all day teaching 14-18 year old kids how to wrestle. Its ok though it's not like there is any close physical contact in wrestling.

If you can't get it through your thick skull that anyone who teaches needs to be properly DBS'd then there is actually something mentally wrong with you.

I agree CRB checks if you are a trainer or performer would be a wise idea if you were in the industry but the idea 'it should the law' is getting a bit silly.

Really? You are wrong in just about every way.

If a trainer is working with anyone under 18 they should be DBS'd, and the same goes for any wrestler who comes in to do some training. I don't think it's  case of "It should be law" I'd imagine it already is but it is ignored for the most part.

Isn’t a DBS only going to work for anyone who has been convicted of something?

That is correct. An enhanced DBS will have a full criminal record on it and it will have if the person is on the POVA ( Protection Of Vulnerable Adults) list and if they are able to work with children.

Anyone who works at any other sort of school will be DBS'd so why should wrestling be any different. I umpire cricket. Junior players are not supposed to get changed in the same room as adults and if you are playing an away game junior players have to go with a parent, they are not allowed to travel in a car with other players on their own. Sticking a couple of 15 Year Old trainees in the ring van and driving to a show to put the ring up should be a definite no-no but I know that it goes on.

  7. I am also a Bears fan @BigJag and normally I love me some defence, but a game that only had 1 punt. Where Nick Foles became the first QB to both pass and receive for a Super bowl touchdown, a game where Tom Brady passed for 505 yards and still lost, a game that had the most yards of any game in NFL history and yet still could have been decided with the last throw of the game.

It was all the thing Vince wants the XFL to be, and he has no chance at all of matching last night's game.

  8. Watched that fight today Egg, it was cracking. Gassiev's hand speed in the later rounds is remarkable. There's one combo that is just sensational. The punch for the 1st knockdown would have finished most matches.

Again I'm still not loving Ronald Macintosh and his bizarre love of middle names, but I tell you who I am warming too. That is old Davey Diamante. Every announcer needs his gimmick and his is strong. Those dreads are magnificent and his "From the four corners of the world to the four corners of this ring" set up line is strong work.

  9. Good to see I kept up my 100% wrong prediction rate.

I agree with you Egg, Bellew was rubbish on commentary tonight, the highlight of which was giving a round 10-9 To Carson Jones over Ted Cheeseman when Jones had been deducted a point in that round.

  10. Who do you fancy in that Egg? I think Okolie likes the fight too much and that Chamberlain might just catch him out. It's an exciting fight and probably 50/50 But I just fancy Chamberlain.

  11. Things got silly at the presser today I see. Lo Greco having a pop about Khan's wife and Khan throwing water over him. Then throw in Masher Dodd and Tommy Coyle dressed as Batman and Superman for no reason and it's a right dogs breakfast.

  12. I think you are right Egg, right man got the nod. Just did the better work and landed the cleaner punches. Wouldn't mind seeing it again after the super series has finished.

Old Ronald Mackintosh is a bloody awful commentator isn't he. So wooden in his delivery you'd swear his dad was called Geppetto.

The World Boxing Super Series starts back tonight, Usyk vs. Breidis. Show is free on the ITV Box Office Channel around 8 i think.

No spoilers, but this is well worth a watch.

  14. I guess Frank Warren couldn't make the Golovkin fight for BJS so he has got himself another payday in the meantime.

Price has to KO Povetkin in 2 rounds. After that his stamina is gone.

How come everyone is convinced Ricochet's name will get changed? Guys with indy name value like Austin Aries, Samoa Joe and Adam Cole have all come in identity intact.

I'm not convinced they will change it, I was just asking the question. For every Samoa Joe or Bobby Roode there is a Hideo Itami and a Kassius Ohno.
