  1. I have huge bonner for anything JGL-related. He's a really, really brilliant actor, picks great films and nicely balances it with "cool". My mum was going through cancer when I saw 50/50 and I thought it dealt with the topic brilliantly. The scene with his mum (you know which one) had me bawling my eyes out.

  2. Just been reading about this film

soon to be released, which is being described as the most disturbing of the year, and is based on a true story.

A full report on the true events is

but basically, a prank caller calls a McDonalds saying he's a police officer and that one of the staff, a teenage girl, has been accused on stealing a customer's money. So he's speaking to the girl's manager, and convinces her to take her into the back, get her to strip down and search her, and the manager went ahead and followed this guy's orders over the phone.

The events spiral EVEN FURTHER to absolute crazy levels, but I won't say anything to spoil it (everything is detailed in that report, so spoilers), so much so that you can't believe someone could be duped into such a thing and treat an employee, a teenage girl no less, like that. As I've said, the situation gets even worse, and the film has seen many people walk out due to it.

I never heard about this incident before but it boggles the mind.

  3. They reviewed Summerslam 1997 on Review a Wai this week and were talking about the highly entertaining clusterfuck that was the million dollar giveaway on the show. I looked up and it's worth watching if not for the unintentional hilarity but for how ridiculously hot Sunny is (and to a lesser extent Sable). The amount of perving Petengill gets away with too is a hoot.

  4. And last nights TV tapings results were:

<-- click on 'spoiler' to show/hide the spoiler

Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness are on commentary. Return date of September 22.

Dark Match: Alabama Attitude beat Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Sliced Bread #2 into a backstabber and leg drop combo.

    Episode #1 Taping

    (1) Sara Del Rey beat Mia Yim after an Axe Kick. Maria and Mike Bennett were on the attack afterward. Eddie Edwards made the save.

Truth Martini called out Jim Cornette. Truth said the House of Truth should take out Steen, Jacobs, and Corino. Eddie Edwards came out mid-promo and said he should be #1 contender. Rhino vs. Edwards in an Anything Goes match is set up, with the winner facing the World champion at the Death Before Dishonor X Internet PPV.

    (2) Rhino beat Eddie Edwards in an Anything Goes Match. Rhino won via referee stoppage after a Gore through a table. So, Rhino vs. the ROH champ (currently Steen) for the ROH Title in Chicago on September 15.

    (3) ROH World champion Kevin Steen beat Homicide to retain the ROH Title. Steen won after a low blow behind the ref's back and then an F5. Rhino came out post-match to pose.

    Episode #2 Taping

    (1) Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander beat the Young Bucks in a Tag Title tournament First Round match. C&C won with a second rope huracanrana and frog splash combo.

Charlie Haas came out for promo. He called out Jim Cornette and said that he and Shelton Benjamin should be the tag champs. Rhett Titus came out mid-promo, then Charlie and Rhett entered the tournament as partners. They say when they win, they will fight each other for the belts.

    (2) Q.T. Marshall beat Tadarius Thomas after an Alabama Slam.

    (3) Mike Mondo won a Six-Man Mayhem match to face the TV champion at DBDX on September 15. The match was Mondo vs. Mike Bennett vs. T.J. Perkins vs. Tomasso Ciampa vs. Roderick Strong vs. Jay Lethal. Mondo won after a Double Arm DDT on Bennett.

ROH taped the September 22 TV tapings as the “biggest wrestling event in Baltimore history.”

    Episode #3 Taping

    (1) Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs beat the Bravado Brothers in a Tag Title tournament First Round match. Jacobs and Corino said that Cornette made them put up their ROH contracts if they were to compete. So, if they lose any match in this tournament, they will leave ROH.

Guardians of Truth then attacked Jacobs & Corino post-match. Steen makes the save. Rhino then came out and hit the Gore on Steen.

    (2) Matt Taven vs. Jay Lethal ended in a No Contest most likely. Lethal cuts a promo saying he talked to Cornette about getting a World Title shot, but Cornette’s response was that he didn’t have a “killer instinct." Jay then low-blowed Taven at the start of the match. He then hit the Lethal Injection on the referee, who wasn't Turner or Sinclair.

    (3) Rhett Titus & Charlie Haas beat the Guardians of Truth in a Tag Title tournament First Round match. Titus won with a roll-up on one of the Guardians. Corino and Jacobs attacked the Guardians post-match.

    Episode #4 Taping

    (1) The Briscoes beat BLK OUT (Jeez & Ruckus) in a Tag Title tournament First Round match. Briscoes won with a Frog Elbow Drop on Ruckus.

    (2) Mike Sydal beat Mike Bennett via count-out after Mike Mondo came to ringside and kissed Maria (lucky guy) and Mike Bennett chased him to the back.

    (3) Tomasso Ciampa beat Mike Posey. R.D. Evans was on commentary. He was attacked by Prince Nana and Ciampa made the save.

    (4) ROH TV champion Adam Cole vs. “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin ended in a No Contest; Cole retained the TV Title. The No Contest was a result of ref Sinclair getting hit by Cole when being powerbombed. Guardians of Truth, who were at ringside, were attacked by Steen, Corino, and Jacobs. Rhino then attacked Steen. The episode ended with Elgin and Roddy getting in each other's faces, teasing an Elgin face turn. They didn’t fight, but it's clear they aren’t a cohesive unit any more.

    - Four teams advancing to semi-finals of ROH Tag Title tournament: Briscoes, Haas & Titus, Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs, and Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander.

So that means DBD X, one of ROH's biggest shows usually will likely end up as:

<-- click on 'spoiler' to show/hide the spoiler

Steen vs Rhino for the ROH Title.

Cole vs Mondo for the ROH TV Title.

Corino & Jacobs (most likely due to the retirement clause if they lose) vs The Briscoes or Titus/Haas.

Wait, why are Titus and Hass teaming?

I actually don't mind Steen vs a motivated Rhyno in a big brawl kicking the crap out out of eachother.

But yeah ROH just isn't doing anything for me and haven't for ages a part from all the Stern stuff from 2011 to now. The only thing that makes it look like it isn't 1978, is when Maria comes out sucking on a lollipop with her ass hanging out. It's tragic how she illicits a live response just walking out without cramming a bunch of near falls and stiff kicks.

Also, where's the golden boy Davey?

Watching their latest TV, they come off as really past it. The show looks grainy and the intro with the guy lacing boots reeks old-time. I can't see how it could appeal to the 18-25 demo, it looks the complete opposite of edgy or progressive which ROH looked under Gabe with less money for production and talent and tighter adherence to the code of honour.

Actually I did quite enjoy Kelly calling Cole getting his teeth kicked out of his mouth recently but any drama felt nullified by the fact that you really don't see an interesting direction for the company as a whole.

  5. I hope she gets whatever help she needs but she has always come off as arrogant in every interview I've seen her in. She's had a level of fame from a pretty young age so it's no surprise really. I won't hold my breath with this, because in two of the previous RF shoots I've seen of hers she's avoided loads of stuff because she was saving it for a book that has never materialised. In ECW in 99/00 Heyman did some feature on her drug problems which was pretty shady from what I remember and it felt like a cheap opportunity for ratings.

  6. Highspots has just released this which was filmed a few months ago. Seems pretty apt now. Love King at the end going, 'Fuck I just got fired.'

I take it the main sell of the shoot must be to get them to talk about some locker room opinion of Sinclair because I can't see how an ANX shoot would sell otherwise.

  7. London describing wrestling as 'fun gayness' is pretty much the best thing. They went through everything that needed to last time and had them in the right condition for the hilarity. Maybe if it was an hour long and condensed there would be something insightful to gain from it with some funny nuggets, but even then it would be a stretch. I'll stick to the first one with their Benoit at Bob Evans story.

  8. Here's a press conference between Cliff Compton, Luke Gallows and Power Uti. Funny as shit. Domino is hilarious and Power Uti is no selling every punch, belt shot and chair shot they throw at him. Its exactly how he described it on the podcast he did with Cabana. Its one of the funniest fucking things I've ever seen. Uti's just standing taking offense. Brilliant.

  9. Thing is about some of the hate for Rollins' metalhead schtick is that this is WWE. Kevin Dunn and Vince have a perpetual hard-on for Kid Rock and Saliva. It may not be cool to us, but it feels a hell of a lot more relevant than what we usually get with WWE. It's not perfect I know but it's a bit better.
