  1. Apparently Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose made his debut last night at a WWE house show in a match with Daniel Bryan. I read somewhere that Tyler Black/Seth Rollins is due to appear on his first house show later this month, I think between Xmas and New Year IIRC. This is all to see how they are doing and ready for a call up to the main roster soon.

  2. Just watched Mary and Max late last night on Film4. Very dark claymation about a girl and man who write to each other from Australia and New York, respectively over a number of years. Some dark content, as both help eachother deal with the other's loneliness and marginalisation through their letters. Heartfelt and the potential to make one a bit teary. Has voices of Toni Collete and Philip Seymour-Hoffman which sold me initially on watching.

  3. I'm sorry to hear that. And yes, she was very good too though the lack of screen time she got put her out of my mind before when I was writing my original post and might hurt her chances to be nominated. Having just watched it, I felt at first that the dad's condition was slightly shoehorned in but it added something to the mother-son relationship, and really did also for when Adam goes into surgery but can't rely on his father for the support you would expect of a child going into surgery and instead has to give it instead, while at his most vulnerable moment.

  4. SPOILERS AHOY for 50/50

just watched 50/50. As someone with a close family member currently going through cancer, wasn't sure whether to watch it right now or wait but i'm a huge JGL fan and had heard great things about it. Glad I did as I thought the film wasn't too cutesy for a Hollywood film with Seth Rogen in it and tackled the most difficult topic very well. Some of the stuff really nailed the experience, at least from the perspectives of the loved ones of the patient coming too terms with it from the young man, Adam's perspective. JGL again was a joy to watch, and I'm greatful that he took on the project when James Macavoy pulled out last minute. Rogen did Rogen but was perfectly fine though I thought he was a bit callous at times. Anna Kendrick as his psychiatrist was really good too and not too ditsy where she was annoying. Some moments really made me laugh aloud like Adam's boss telling him at a party thrown for him following his news (funny in itself) that it's been nice knowing him. The focus on Adam having to shoulder how his friends and family felt and their perception of him was an interesting aspect, especially for me having had to break the news to people in my own experience and having to see their reactions. Very, very good, but I'm not sure if quite good enough for serious award contention for the main actors, though it might get a Best Film nomination if the next year is lacking in other entries.

  5. just out of interest, do you think they could successfully turn generico fully-heel? or cabana? not to argue with you, just wondering (and anyone can answer this) if you thought it could be done and well? i know steen is mega popular at the moment, but generico and cabana are such strong faces. has generico ever been a heel?i was just wondering if cabana's comment and the stuff i mentioned originally, were actual sour grapes he has with the company as it contrasts with his in-ring personality so much.

  6. is cabana in the bad books of roh or something? i ask because he tweeted steen about how the office called them both a disgrace for their no dq match in nyc last year and thought it was odd to bring it up in a public sphere. i also ask cos he dropped it in during an aow podcast in the summer that roh wasnt offering him a contract, which also seemed strange for someone as light-hearted as cabana to bring up a private negotiation especially since he's been with the company for so long.when was the last time he was booked by them? i know people have slated him for having a bit of a patchy time in the last two years, when he hasnt been involved with the steen/generico feud, though i always enjoy his stiff.

    It seems Steen started this...

KILLSTEENKILL Kevin Steen @ColtCabana Remember our bloodbath in NYC and the heat we seperately got from the office after? But when the Briscoes do it, it's a classic!

yeah i saw that, wondering how that could fit in with the current steen stuff in roh.

  8. remember watching this over and over about 5 years ago, a nice mv of pre-wwe punk with some highlights of his best matches from that time. used love the mv zone site where people would create and post these videos to, before it shut down. wish someone would post to youtube all those videos which were up on there.

  9. Went to see Drive yesterday, and what a flick it was. I thought it was incredible and easily the best flick I've seen in years. Couldn't wait to see it again, and low and behold, there's a Screener up this morning on the usual places...

Yeah I saw it over the weekend and echo these comments, out-fucking-standing.

the opening scene with the song Night Call over the top, is just gorgeous. Such great tension as well.

  10. just got back from seeing Crazy Stupid Love. really enjoyed it though with the cast it had, i was hooked from when i first saw the trailer a few months back and wasnt really disappointed. sure it was verging on Love, Actually territory and the ending was very "hollywood", but the cast totally made the characters enjoyable for me and i was pleasantly surprised by the twists as they came. the young actress who played the babysitter was particularly good i thought whereas i expect great stuff from carrell, moore, stone and gosling, anyway. carrell plays lovable loser very, very well and it might be too repetitive for some who have seen the office, 40 year old virgin, date night and dan in real life; but i thought there were enough plot threads to keep it from being stale and tbh i love the guy, regardless. the jacob character could have been a really unlikable dick in the hands of a less talented actor, but gosling wins me over time and time again. emma stone is simply charming once more.

also marissa tomei is a stone-cold fox and it delighted me to hear the two women in their fifties sat behind me, jealously bitch about her when she first appeared :p

  11. opinions of the new Office. started out thinking they were throwing a lot at the wall and some iffy writing, while having to force in jenna fischer's pregnancy; but by the end, quite liking andy as the new boss. probably the biggest mainstream actor they have on the show and a simple progression from michael who was a lovable idiot too (in some of the early seasons, michael spoke of being promoted quickly and was offered as the main reason why he so wanted to be liked by his employees). love andy anyway, so my instant reaction was good and it makes it that much more an ensemble show seeing as andy is not quite an authorative figure yet as he has just been promoted.

didnt like the planking stuff though it kept up the tradition of recent years where the group aare really into a fad that has already gone and come (e.g. the parcour stuff and glee routine from last year). stanley and pam were particularly meh.

ryan's arrogant line which was followed by him burning his mouth

  12. i remember watching on youtube an angle from the 70s/80s where a heel sent out his girlfriend with dark sunglasses on to look for the babyface he was feuding with at the time, though she didnt say why she needed to see him, just that she needed to. when the galliant babyface came out, the girl, acting strangely, eventually revealed a black eye which got a good shocking-reaction at the time. at this point the heel attacked from behind. i think it was studio shot or at least there was a desk at which the girl was being interviewed. it was a really great segment, quite chilling in how it slowly revealed things. it was called something like "i need to see....". any ideas?
