  1. Anybody watched Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip? Opinions?

I downloaded all of the first season earlier looking for some new American TV to get my teeth into, then after reading up on it I realised that was the only season. Is it still worth watching, knowing it will probably finish with loose ends, or is it good enough to justify watching just the one season?

Yeah I loved it. It's the only Sorkin thing I've watched but if his other stuff is as good (as I've heard the West Wing is) I'm going to get onto more of his stuff. Got a bit of a rough deal coming out the same year as 30 Rock I thought, despite being very different styles and tones. For viewers who hate characters talking quickly while walking quickly through corridors, you'll hate it. I liked it and enjoyed several moments.

  2. Put me on the list of people who loved Crazy, Stupid, Love but then with a cast of Carrell, Stone and Gosling I was going to love it.

Just watched the original version of Rec, thanks to someone who uploaded it to YouTube with English subtitles. Absolutely terrifying; the last forty minutes I had to watch with the laptop screen slightly turned away. Really enjoyed it.

    Is Rec 2 worth watching?

  3. Funnily enough I don't enjoy Pierce at all. Troy and "Britta for the win" ;) Looking back it saddens me how little the Dean is in S1 but luckily he gets more and more screentime, even getting his own episode pretty much in S3.

I'm also in love with Alison Brie.

Like all pilots, just to show how much the show grows over S1, in the pilot, Jeff is wearing tracksuit bottoms. TRACKSUIT BOTTOMS!

  4. I liked Season 1 of Community but I hated season 2, couldn't make it through the whole season, it seemed to lose all subtlety. I'm used to sitcoms gradually getting worse and more over the top but to me it seemed like community went from great to shit almost instantly, SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

once other people wanted to be in their group it seemed more cliquey, I hated it, it stopped them from being a band of loveable misfits and into quasi college celebrities and don't get me started on the love triangles and shit, holy fuck it went downhill

You must have hated the last episode. I thought, after watching it, that Harmon was making a point perhaps of NBC trying to interfere with the show and make it more accessible with all those graphics he included. Also no return of the Clooney impersonator from S2 :(

I'm really surprised that S2 is getting a bit of a rough deal. I thought it was pretty consistently good to fantastic that season. The "fake" clip show was a revelation with so monay different types of comedy thrown together, it was a joy to watch. Also really enjoyed the mockumentary episode in the hospital. I love how Britta has evolved and gone from being the boring, activist love interest to Jeff, to being such an un-cool doofus.

  5. Gallows, Both Cliff Comptons/Dominoes, Excalibur and Sal Rinauro are the ones I've been able to listen to several times. The Daniel Bryan, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder ones are also very good (in the latter two the stories about Zack's dad are absolutely tremendous, especially the wrestling figure one from the Hawkins one). Only dud ones I can think of are the ICP, Kikutaro and Ricky Marvin ones.

  6. Hey, I'm doing lots of traveling for the next few weeks and need some podcasts. I listen to the Nerdist, AOW, Stephen Toboloswky, Gamble and Peacock, LAW, Ministry of Slam, Daily Bugle, Michelle Beadle and Grizzley Egg Bear Cafe, to give you a taste of what I like. So anything similar or something you guys listen to religiously, either wrestling, tv or humour related?

  7. Is anyone going to see Brand New on their current tour? I'm really looking forward to it. I just wish I had gone to see them before now though. Not a fan of "Daisy" at all and they're still playing a good few songs from that.

Yeah I'm going to the Sunday London show with a friend. My third time seeing them. And I saw that from the Nottingham show, I thought Daisy was fine, but wouldn't mind more from TDAGARIM or Deja if they do change it up slightly from night to night. Last time I saw them, I think the only song they didn't play that I wish they had, was Boy Who Blocked. Still, can't wait. Their NYE show in Atlantic City looked fantastic, and they played Flying From Tree Level too.

  8. I'm warning my friends to stick with it despite some of the silliness of S2. Also I love how they gave it new life in S4 by focusing on new characters with intermittent appearances from those who left but in ways that made it feel authentic.

And surely Coach and Tami are one of the best onscreen couples in recent memory. In fact, I find it troubling to think they don't actually exist somewhere out there :(

I'll definitely be getting my friends on to this so I can finally talk to people in real life about it.

  9. I love that guy. He had two great gimmicks, or three if you like me didn't mind the fake Kane stuff, and got a bit of a raw deal. Anyone who heard him on AOW will know that he genuinely loves wrestling, and I hope he doesn't get forgotten about because people think he's older than he really is. He's been about travelling all over it seems, to places like Nigeria (lol), India and now Australia, so hopefully he can return to WWE in the future with something even better under his sleeve. Also Punk likes him so maybe he can bat for him.

  10. Just saw an ad saying that Sky Atlantic will be broadcasting Friday Night Lights (I'm assuming all 5 seasons) from the beginning. Anyone who has not seen it, I highly recommend it. Don't be put off by the subject of American football as it is about so much more than that. Starts Tues 14th.

promo for it sends chills up my arm, such an underrated show.
