  1. Well, it's a great way to debut someone if they go on to do something with them. They could have him doing some crazy spots for a bit, and then have him eliminated because he goes to the top once too often.

I thought the former Consequences Creed was Sabian for a moment.

  2. Nah, it's a five minute show each week, where it seems like they're both having a laugh and get to run through clips. Nothing more. Sometimes there will be footage I've never come across too. Compared to most of WWE's output which feels quite a bit forced or scripted, they've gotten to know each other and have a nice bit of back and forth, now even giving up and bursting out laughing. Some bits you can tell are scripted and less off-the-cuff, but for a YouTube show, it's just what you need.

  3. That Jericho one was terrific for old TV trivia talk. The hour flies by, so they really ought to do another. The Punk one is good too, and even though Hardwick was a bit hard on himself for not knowing wrestling, it was refreshing and will hopefully bring some of their fanbase to check out Punk and stick around. I would recommend Nerdist all day long regardless.

EDIT: It seems from Twitter that Konnan & MSL have made up with Colt.

  4. Aftermath have put together this infographic for the last year. Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a particular reason why WWE don't run TV or PPVs in that area of the north-west which is blank? What is their house schedule like there?

  5. Well, I guess I mean marketing to an audience who buy tickets and merch, and trying new things to bring attention to himself. Compare it to every other independent wrestler out there including those tied to a major company to help promote them, Colt's done an admirable job of getting his name in places that don't usually cover wrestling (something Punk has been doing too with Talking Dead and Nerdist podcast). In terms of longevity, if he can continue these outside ventures rather than kill his body like an El Generico, in a few years time when the landscape has shifted even slightly concerning those in power in these companies, he might have a bit more luck. It's really only 3 companies where those or some of those in power seem to have not gotten him, or have some kind of objection to working with him or his work. Whatever it is, it's a shame for him that it happens to be the 3 biggest in America. I suppose it's all hard to say when we're on the outside looking in, and no one can tell for sure unless Trips decides to open up a UKFF account.

  6. I'm a big fan of the MLW podcast, but Konnan comes off really out of it or not comprehending particular things. I know he's usually "in Iran" but there are tangible silences when Court and MSL don't know what to say when he misses the boat on something or something goes over his head. He also cuts off guests and can be a bit full on with people who he doesn't know. It can be funny with friends, but with strangers he's speaking to for the first time, you feel a bit sorry for them when he's being really overbearing with them. They probably don't want to stir shit or bring in names because they want to maintain relationships, whereas Konnan works in Mexico and probably doesn't care. Like I said, I like the nature of the podcast jumping around from subjects and giving out tidbits of stories backstage, but I would enjoy it a lot less if Bauer and MSL weren't there to carry the ball.

I've probably said it before many times, on here that I'm a big fan of Colt. Maybe he doesn't present himself the right way, or is a bit laid back or informal (hence why certain people in WWE don't care for him) but I can't say he comes across as trouble or a nuisance. You can tell his passion for wrestling just listening to him for 5 mins. I can see that he understands that he can't rely on WWE, TNA or even ROH and wants this for the longhaul, and is simply over-protective of his image for longevity. He comes from a marketing background and has done a good job of marketing himself, so I can see him thinking in those terms about maintaining his "brand". This is wrestling, and you're bound to put your foot in it with someone.

  7. Anyone who listens to MLW think it strange that they had some random woman on this week? Sure, she has a podcast of her own, but don't hundreds of people record their own podcast in their basement? She doesn't seem to have any claim to fame apart from that. I'm surprised they invited her on the show for the full episode.

  8. Yeah The Union was terrible, with their 2x4s and Vince's rolled up sleeves - very thrown together to prolong until the reveal of the Higher Power. I think I've seen Taker say how he didn't like where it went with the McMahons becoming the focus, and the incorporation with The Corporation. But yeah, I still enjoy it to some extent. They feature in one of my favourite promo videos from WWE, from the Best of Raw Volume 2 VHS (can't find it on YouTube).

  9. Watching a couple of old PPVs after really enjoying the Attidude Era mode in WWE 13 and man I absolutely LOVE the Ministry of Darkness. They're probably my favourite WWE stable of all time because they were just so cool. Undertaker as the evil, satanic master. The abduction of Mabel at the Rumble to turn him him into Viscera. The Acolytes kicking the hell out of everything. The Brood being badass. Just so entertaining and I love this shit. I know I'm not really articulating myself very well but I guess I put my love for the stable down to my long-lasting interest in the macabre. How are the Ministry viewed on here?

Ministry is one of my favourite things of the Attitude era, and probably my favourite version of Taker. Even unsettling to watch now. When the lights go out, you know shits about to happen.

  10. There was that GIF going around which showed cameras accidently cutting back to Tenay and West reacting by reading from a script, wasn't there?

Funny related story from watching my first Rumble aged 9: when Tazz debuted and suplexed Kurt to the outside in a minute in, I was confused how, having been told in the weeks before how when both feet touched, you were eliminated, that the match wasn't over. Looking back, a three hour match, incorporating all the advertised matches, wouldn't have made sense.
