  1. Found this on another forum.

Hey SUNNY FANS!! This is YOUR CHANCE to get UNDER THE COVERS WITH ME!! At the Legends of the Ring Convention, 10/5/13, I will be offering special photo ops! Your choice: for $50 you get to have your photo taken laying next to me in bed, and for $75 you can have your photo taken 'spooning' or with me lying my head on your chest! Was I your TEENAGE CRUSH?? Now is your chance to make that dream a REALITY!!!

Well. Sad thing is there's some saddos who're going to plonk down dollars for that.

Cannot wait to see some of those pics surface online XD

  2. He has only been around for 8 months and I'd never heard of the bloke till last year but Ambrose is already my favourite wrestler in the world. It's nothing to do with some imaginary bandwagon you've pulled out of your arse and everything to do with the fact he's the most interesting an engaging new guy on the roster. He's got distinct characteristics and makes an effort to stand out in an era where most others are content to turn up and have pretty matches. He's like a delicious mix of Terry Funk, Austin, Piper, Pillman . . the joker, yet he feels completely original at the same time. He's perfectly in tune with being Ambrose. Next big thing? Well that's impossible to predict for him and for anybody. I'm just happy that there's at least a couple of guys on the roster that excite me and make me look forward to what they're doing on each show (Bryan and Bray too, who both wrestle in character as well, funnily enough). It's been a while sine that happened.

    This and then some.
  3. Gave that Ranallo podcast a go today, it was alright. I'm not big into UFC or boxing so zoned out for some parts, but the chat with Konnan was good. Konnan comes across well, is his own podcast good?Ian, you're right about the Mauro's voice- he can make the most mundane sentence sound so dramatic with the way he emphasises EVERY other WORD. It's a little irritating at times. Still, his voice is nowhere near as annoying as Bryan Alvarez's.

Not really. He's very up front with the fact that he's high when he records it; but he makes such a big deal about it, he comes off like a 16 year old who has had his first toke and suddenly thinks he's well 'ard and cool. And he struggles to grasp so many simple things that you can almost hear Court and MSL (his co-hosts) thinking 'this guy is a fucking idiot but he spills a lot of dirt so let's just keep this show going'. Also with some guests he just interrupts them while they're in the middle of something and jumps down their throats. I remember him spending about 40 mins trying to get Gabe Sapolsky to spill something and it go boring after a while.
  4. Yeah I don't watch sports of any kind but I have loved the 30 for 30 docs I've seen so far. Have watched the Scott Hall, Sonics, Broke and LA Raiders ones, and the one about the fan who got in the way of the baseball catch.

Just excellent stuff overall. To be honest, for me, a documentary about people being passionate about something, with great characters, is always a win for me, and I suppose sport gives itself up to those qualities.

  5. Add me to the list of those who checked out the P2B podcast with Kevin Kelly. He provided a lot new stuff I hadn't heard about before. Going to check out the rest of those 1999 PPV reviews too. A great listen for two hours too.

I think Martin Hines has a new episode up of his Interesting People podcast, with Peter Rosenberg who has interviewed a lot of the big WWE names in the last few years. Looking forward to giving it a listen.

  6. Christ, that Emma is a bit of infectious viewing. Her entrance music is crap, her am-dancing thing is fucking weird and her name is just 'Emma'- but I couldn't stop watching it all. And it takes a lot for me to sit down and watch a match from start to finish these days, especially bloody women's wrestling. She's quite entertaining.

Only recently realised she is Tenille from Shimmer.

  7. I went off Hernandez for the longest time. I liked him as part of the original LAX with Homicide, and thought he did some nifty stuff in the ring to get a PPV off to a hot start in tag matches. However, he just didn't do much for ages, and his tattoo just makes me cringe. Not really thought much of his team with Chavo, but yes the last two or three weeks I've enjoyed his matches. Really enjoyed his match with Aries, but that may have been more about Aries' impression of him.

  8. I have a friend who loves it, reads the books and everything. He pretty much has to force me to sit down and watch it, or I never will get round to it. There's just so much other fantastic stuff that I have to prioritise. I do enjoy GOT, and there is far worse on TV. It's perfectly entertaining once you're into it. But I'm 10 mins into the new episode now, and while I remember scenes from the 'previously', the vast list of characters and families is exhausting (almost to the point of leaving it completely for another day, which I might indeed do). And it's not that I can't comprehend large casts of characters, as I love The Wire and Oz. Of course, the positive of many sprawling stories is that if you can't remember someone's entire backstory, or simply don't find them that interesting, the scene will be over in a minute, and the story will jump elsewhere. I'm don't really like fantasy nor am I much of a LOTR fan. GOT sits in that category of something to go to when my big shows aren't on. The stuff with Tyrion and Goffrey are always well worth their screentime. I did think last season the weekly fix of gore and tits became almost a parody.

  9. Never been a fan of his really. However, if we want to base the quality and validity of storylines on puns and wordplay, when his name was thrown out as being Vince's son, I thought it was a stroke of genius given Kennedy is Vince's middle name. A star-making storyline if there ever was one, that's the kind of angle that a wrestler could only dream of being brought in for: to be a bloody McMahon! Without sounding too much like an absolute mark, you're changing the WWE mythology by introducing a third McMahon child. I remember thinking at the time how perfect it would have been; especially since the guy would have been drawing attention to his last name for two years prior. I thought that was the coolest thing ever at the time, like Sawyer adopting the name of the guy who "killed" his parents. You would have been sorted for TV for a year with that storyline; perhaps even longer.

    But he fucked it up.

Anyway, that and the cage match he had with Angle a few years ago are the only redeeming things about him for me. Actually, no, scratch that; the fact he screwed up that illegitimate son storyline which would have been pretty major, and instead we got all that Hornswoggle stuff, makes me angry constantly when I see him. Him and Benoit ruined 2007 for me.

  10. I'm actually listening to an Alan 4L and Rob Naylor podcast reviewing the years from 2002-04, and two others talking about 2005 and 2006. They have a load of stories about stuff like how long it took to get the tapes. I have a weird fascination of the indy scene around this period. Not even the actual wrestling, but the side bar shit that goes with it. Nothing really seems to happen anymore. All you hear now is "ROH can't get the stream to work" and that's boring. Back them you'd have the company's owner getting done for diddling kids or CM Punk getting a slapping off Teddy Hart in a cafe or finding out about Teddy Hart going spastic on a ROH event and moonsaulting off shit. I'd totally recommend those podcasts. You can get them from F4Wonline if you use the search function. But yeah, you could download and watch the thing in an afternoon now the day after the show is done.

Doesn't even seem like the same Samoa Joe from 2003-2006 as it does today. He looks like he couldn't give a toss now.

Can you link me to that podcast where I can download it, or give the full name if it's on itunes? Cheers!

  11. She's amazing.

Girls is absolute dreck though, but I would say that because, as Chest Rockwell will happily remind you in dark corners, I hate women me. Seriously though, awful show. Lena Dunham is exceptionally irritating and when James fuckin' Franco of all people manages to trash your show with some style, you're in trouble. But hey, as Lena says, she doesn't pay attention to "mixed reviews", so there's that.

I'm actually enjoying it, but I can see that it doesn't have the same cross-over appeal to other audiences, like I would say Mad Men has. It's basically 'First World Problems', the TV series. Perhaps as a graduate within the last two years I can relate somewhat more to the themes, though there is a level of satire to it. I mean, some of the lines they come out with, are laughable. No writer would ever play straight serious drama and try to have an audience empathise with these characters, with some of the stuff they come out with. I think however, from looking at Twitter, girls aged 18-23 are taking the show on as some sort of Sex and the City for their generation without recognising that satire. Also, Lena Dunham has the same disorder that Beth Ditto had of flaunting her fat ad nauseum; she really needs to stop that. It can get overly indulgent, like the episode a few weeks ago where Hannah has this affair for two days with the doctor, and stuff just pops up out of nowhere, like Hannah's OCD this week. I'm glad they got rid of Jessa, who has to be the most loathsome character in quite some time though I was a little disappointed that Joshua left. On the other hand, Adam is terrific, almost to the point of being on a whole other level from the rest.

  12. Wanted to get people's thoughts on Silver Linings Playbook. It seemed to have been a film to get Bradley Cooper over as a proper actor, but Jennifer Lawrence came out of the awards season even more a star, with her pretty hilarious foot-in-mouth persona. Is it worth seeing? It seemed to be a very generic Hollywood indy that got more praise than it deserved. I've only seen Lawrence in X Men First Class, so it's not the best role to basis acting ability on. Is she any good?

Watched Argo and The Master in the last week. Argo was a very good thriller. With that kind of cast and the intrigue of its roots in an historical event, it seemed like Affleck was just overseeing an inevitable success. I think it would have been that much better without the critical acclaim and coverage. Most definitely an "IMDB film", it highlighted how good television was right now with so many terrific actors from the small screen showing up.

The Master I absolutely loved. What it may have lacked in story direction, it made up for in performances by the top three leads, while some of the shots, were so captivating, I was consciously grinning throughout. Nothing innovative in terms of cinematography, but all in all, just very engrossing and I look forward to watching it again.

Would like to hear others' thoughts.

  13. The most recent episode of The Simpsons is all about Grandpa being revealed as a former Gorgeous Goerge-type wrestler. They actually explain what heels and babyfaces are.

On a side note that has probably been flogged to death, having not watched a new episode of the Simpsons in absolutely ages, it's a bit demoralising. The voices all sound very stunted and very aged.

  14. Get Mooney back in! He makes Cole look like a corpse by comparison.

Whenever I watch any WWF from the New Generation era, Pettengill's enthusiasm for everything is so refreshing compared to today's announcers where everyone is making smarky comments, shooting on eachother, or shitting on everything like some uni student back home from their first term away. Not saying they should bring him back full-time, because the announcers are directed from the back, but it just makes watching a lot of fun. I think Todd Grisham was the last guy similar to him who threw himself into the role. Renee Young seems to have that unjaded feel about her.

  15. That's awesome that they've had some many wrestling people in such a short space of time. One of my favourite podcasts. Hardwick kept saying how nervous he was doing Punk at first, because of how it would be received by non-fans and that he would displease the wrestling fans for not knowing wrestling. I actually thought it was refreshing to have Punk have to rehash the same old story about liking Piper when he was younger, which he has said he hates doing. The Jericho one was an hour of retro TV talk which I loved, and it sounded like they could have filled another hour easy before even talking about wrestling. Looking forward to this one, and Edge of that's true. I think Dolph would be pretty good to have on that one as he loves a lot of the stand up and TV comedy, which would go down well with the Nerdist audience.
