Woke up early yesterday so got up & watched 'The Wolfman' starring Benicio Del Toro & Anthony Hopkins. I was interested in this when it was announced but then the production was full of problems, directors leaving & being replaced and rumours of massive studio interference & reshoots. It started off really well, the first 45 minutes were good, not amazing but I was certainly interested. A well shot massacre in a gypsy camp & the arrival of Hugo Weaving's character had me wondering why it got bashed by the critics. From this point things went downhill fast resulting in a predictable & naff CGI-fest with a bollocks ending.
I'd be interested in seeing the original cut/vision as there was a definite sylistic clash within the film.
Â
Yeah i wanted to really like The Wolfman, parts were quite macabre horror which i really liked but the instant you see the wolfman himself it turns into this naff tongue in cheek horror film which is woeful.
Â
I watched Another Earth last night and its a pretty fantastic film and I also watched A Midnight Clear which is also fantastic. Its one of those films I remember staying up late and watching in my teens and I found it so affecting but couldn't remember the name, just remembered Ethan Hawke and found that it had a Blu Ray Anniversary Edition on my Amazon Recomendations! Anyway checkit out, pretty powerful antiwar stuff.

I just finished The Complete Maus. I thought that it was a fantastic way of telling a survivor's story. I'm now keen to pick up the accompaniment book "Meta Maus."
Had no idea about MetaMaus until you mentioned it there mate, so cheers for that. Maus is one of the best things I've ever read.

Leave the memories alone
Â
Classic, though I was slightly disappointed he didn't use that song!

After looking at that FCA set that's coming out, it got me wondering:
Â
How many Chicago Street Fights have there been collectively in WWE, WCW, ECW and TNA? I can count three (Uncensored '96, WM13 and Extreme Rules), is there any other notable ones?
Â
Typed it into Google cause i was intruiged, found this! Trish Stratus vs Victoria
-
Yeah hoping to be in there too, if i can find a good stream!
-
I wished I had saw that unexpectedly. Would've been an awesome spot, especially in the context of a Benoit/Lyger match.
Â
Got me thinking about dives from the top to the floor. There can't have been too many of them in the US big leagues. Fatu inexplicably done it in a meaningless squash. Psicosis onto Rey Jr too at BATB96. Chris Daniels from a springboard in that spotfest with Modest on Nitro. Then there was Pierre Oullett with his cannonball once in TNA. And more recently, Jeff with the swanton onto Angle.
Â
There must be a few other examples, especially from all those x-division nutters over the years.
Â
I know it isn't quite the same but I absolutely loved it when Randy Savage did the Double Axhandle from the top rope to the outside.

According to several sources, Chris Sabin has been telling people close to him that he will be departing TNA Wrestling when his contract expires in August. Sabin's former Motorcity Machine Guns partner Alex Shelley recently departed TNA as well, and is likely headed to WWE.

Quick tip
Â
dont read the prometheus review on empire's website like i did
Â
Is it spoiler-tastic or just a rotten review mate?
-
Saw The Dictator and The Raid recently. Thought The Dictator was shit with about 2 funny moments. While The Raid was nothing short of awesome!
Â
Also last night I watched Gone Baby Gone, top class. Such an intense film.
-
Andre 3000 as Jimi Hendrix
-
Just watching the Stone Cold DVD set, who is the narrator? I've heard his voice before on other stuff but I've looked on imdb and can't seem to find it, who is he and what does he do? He should be a ring announcer or something, such an awesome voice.

Videogame shadow of the colossus to be made into a movie
Â
if anyone remembers the game this could be amazing. i'd rather just have a sequel on the newest consoles though
Â
G.I Joe 2 moved from next month
Â
won't come out till march so it can get converted into 3d. looks so much better than the first one especially with rock and bruce willis. poor performance of battle ship in americ blamed as that wasnt in 3d
Â
Bloody gutted. As a big lover of GI Joe, this looked fairly decent and it had The Rock and the really fit girl from Friday Night lights stupid lame 3D. A month before it was due for release, a month! Maybe its shit....and the test screenings were woeful..
Â
Also, count me interested in a Shadow of the Colossus film! I have no idea how he'll do it, but I'll see it.

Apparently Sin Cara returned to the ring last night at a WWE live event
-
Well said. I got a bit bored in Season 2 with a new episode being something different. Its still enjoyable but it lost its charm with me anyway.Community's a bit like when every WCW match was an "on a pole" match, isn't it? Did they ever do episodes without gimmicks? I enjoy the show, so it's not a knock.
-
Casino Royale is in my opinion class. Never got to see Quantum of Solace though but meh.
Â
I bloody love GoldenEye too, however my favourite Bond film is Goldfinger! Best theme is from License To Kill.
Â
Discuss/get angry/tear apart as you please

Indeed it is, now I'm waiting for The Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins push to materialise...If they are really going all out for the Tag Division (probably not though) I reckon they could put Derrick Bateman and Johnny Curtis together and they could do pretty good!Oh and this new show sounds class, better keep "Wild and Young" as the theme song!Smackdown thread going mad for Titus and D-Young. NXT Redemption is the star-maker.

GAH! I HATED Happy Endings, I only watched one episode and it was definitely early on, it was just so shit, and one of the blonde ones seemed to be trying so hard to be an even more annoying neurotic version of Elliot from Scrubs. I probably should maybe give it a chance again...New Girl is great though, even if its not consistently funny it just breezes along nicely on Zooeys charm!
Eh but the quality also increased dramatically so I'm hoping it'll be like Happy Endings which started out OK and fairly plotty but they learned to focus on their strengths (dialogue and actors) and use plots as a rough skeleton on which to place many many jokes.
How far did they get with it over here? I saw it had been renewed for a second season but in the US the numbers dropped off quite a bit. I'm not surprised either - I loved it but they burned through a shitload of storylines for one season. Not a lot of patience shown. Is the rest of the season of New Girl actually getting shown over here? I kept looking but it seemed to have stopped.
-
getting to work the bar at Ardal O'Hanlon tomorrow night, I'm hoping we're only serving during before/intermissions/after so i can watch but if not ah well. I'm sure he'll still be cracking though! Anyone a fan?
-
I thought she was the strongest, Clare Danes was awesome.
Â
Seconded, I thought she was immense!
-
Â
Yeah, that looks fucking class is what it does.
-
Come on baby do you think it's good to feel
Like I'm lying here swimming in memories
I fear God because everything dies babe
Â
'I NEED A WORD, I NEED A WORD...ERM, BABE? CAN I USE BABE? ...IT SOUNDS A BIT CONTRIVED. PLUS, I'VE ALREADY SAID BABY. IT'LL SOUND LIKE A 13 YEAR OLDS FIRST FACEBOOK ACCOUNT. NAH, FUCK IT, I'LL GO FOR IT.'
Â
Â
Â
that Bob Dylan was a right twat for using the word 'Babe' too.
Â
I want to hurt the guy who writes that blog, I like a lot of the same music he listens too, but hes so annoying. Especially in that Biffy piece you linked !

Yup there was a brief period in my life where I became obsessed! After the film I devoured everything Zodiac, the books is class too, there isn't anything about Graysmiths obsessions/personal life in it or whatever but its just a straight up well written account of his investigation! Bet you'll read it in a few days too!
