Just going back to the Directors Cut discussion. There have only so far been 2 movies where I have noticed the cuts, and think they improve on an already good film. Those being Aliens and Terminator 2.
Â
What other Directrs Cuts make a good-to-great film watchable for a second time (if your the kind of person who watches most films only once, like me)?
Â
I have got the Directors Cut of Leon to watch, as its one of my favourite films of all time.
Â
Let us all know what others are out there!
May not be on the same level, but the directors cut of daredevil is amazing. There is about an hour of stuff added onto the film, with a whole subplot involving Coolio (~) as a crimanl, showing all the court cases etc. As well as the love scence with electra is completely different, with also added swearing and all round awesomness.
Â
Daredevil as a film = no, but the directors cut = yes yes.
Â
Agree with you there, plus the directors cut has Coolio how can it be bad?
Â
Dark City Directors Cut is a long way better than the original cut in my book!

His acting in The Wicker Man is pathetically funny. "HOW'D IT GET BURNED?"
Â
Not the bees!!!
Â
I do love him sometimes though, for everything good Bad Lieutenant, Lord Of War, Raising Arizona, Adaptation, Kick Ass, there is always something god awful Wicker Man, Bangkok Dangerous, Ghost Rider etc.

I went to see the "big four" Sonisphere webcast from Bulgaria in the cinema last night. In short, it was fucking awesome.
Â
In slightly more words.....
Â
Anthrax
Â
We discussed Anthrax a few pages back in this thread and I said I really prefer them with John Bush. They had Joey Belladonna back, who quite frankly looks ridiculous these days. Either way, he sang well and the rest of the band always have a lot of energy. Charlie brought his A game for sure, he's a great drummer. They did a nice tribute to Dio by busting into a verse or so of Heaven and Hell during Indians which was pretty cool. Thier set list was:
Â
Caught In A Mosh
Got The Time
Madhouse
Antisocial
Indians/Heaven And Hell
I Am The Law
Â
Megadeth
Â
Just as Megadeth came on it started totally pissing it down in Sofia, there was a great shot of Mustaine's face looking up at the sky and being glad he had a nice cosy stage roof. They ripped right into Holy Wars and the band sounded tight as fuck. The current line up is so technically proficent and well drilled, maybe too much so in the case of new lead guitar player Chris Broderick who, while a great player, is a little too robotic for me. They sounded fucking awesome anyway. However, I have no idea whats happened to Dave's voice. We all know he was never a great singer to begin with, but he really can't hit the high notes at all, it sounds like someone doing a parady of Mustaine. Either way, it didn't bother me too much, Megadeth has always been about the riffs and guitar work more than anything else. Setlist was great, they did Hook In Mouth which I love and at the end of Peace Sells they went into a Holy Wars reprise to end which was killer. Thier setlist was:
Â
Holy Wars
Hanger 18
Head Crusher
In My Darkest Hour
Skin Of My Teeth
Hook In Mouth
Sweating Bullets
Symphony Of Destruction
Peace Sells
Holy Wars Reprise
Â
Slayer
Â
Now, when I was like 17 I used to love Slayer. Turns out, I'm far less angry now and they're just not for me really. Especially not being there and just watching them on a screen. Jeff Hanneman has really piled on the pounds, he's fucking massive now! Kerry King came on looking totally ridiculous with the biggest spiked armguard you've ever seen. They were alright, I don't think much of thier newer material, but when you can bust out tracks like Angel of Death, South of Heaven and Raining Blood you must still be doing something right. Special mention, although it goes without saying really, to Dave Lombardo who is a fucking beast on the skins. Their setlist was:
Â
World Painted Blood
War Ensemble
Hate Worldwide
Seasons In The Abyss
Angel Of Death
Mandatory Suicide
Chemical Warfare
South Of Heaven
Raining Blood
Â
Metallica
Â
Now, I'm obviously biased here as Metallica is my favourite band, but there's a reason they're so much bigger than the other 3 and it showed tonight. They were totally on form (as they have been live for several years now) and had the crowd in the palm of thier hand. Its around this time in the broadcast I really wished I was actually there to see them for my 22nd time. The undoubted highlight of the set, and the whole night, was when members from the other 3 bands joined them in the encore for a pounding version of Diamond Head's Am I Evil? with Hetfield, Belladonna and Mustaine taking turns on the vocals. It was truely a sight to behold for all metal fans and the cinema was buzzing. For me, just to see James hetfield and Dave Mustaine jamming side by side again was just incredible. Then after that Tallica finnished off the night with Kill Em All classics Hit The Lights and Seek and Destroy. They all looked like they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was a great night. Thier setlist was:
Â
Creeping Death
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Harvester Of Sorrow
Fade To Black
Cyanide
One
Master Of Puppets
Nothing Else Matters
Enter Sandman
Am I Evil? w/ The Big Four
Hit The Lights
Seek and Destroy
Â
Here's a video of Am I Evil? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AdzqU4I1MM
Â
It was a great experience all in all, and for those that didn't see if there's a DVD coming. What I've written for the setlists were what was actually broadcast, all the bands had a few songs cut off. More metal than you can shake a stick at.
Â
Â
Â
Bastards. Fucking bastards. I saw the big four at Sonisphere in Warsaw last Wednesday and they didn't play together. I at least expected Mustaine with Metallica. We also got a Queen cover. Ugh. but nonetheless it was an awesome gig.

Mortal Kombat thing looks cool. Is Jax the guy that played Spawn and was in the Dark Knight?
Â
What is the obsession with Cage dying!! He was clearly the best character and the kill him right at the start of the second one, fucking balls it is.
-
Shameless plug...
Â
My own film, a 3 minute documentary made for our University highlighting how great our gig venue is, please give it a watch here!

funny and for some reason i imagine she's quality in bed
Â
Â
It makes me laugh that so many people were horrified with Kristen. I totally love her too.
Â
Which brings me to this...
Â
Â
Or:
Â
Has Zoe Kazan gotten any love? She's from Revolutionary Road, It's Complicated and Me and Orson Welles, and I kind of see her as a slightly more...ahem...normal-looking version of Kristen Schaal. Still slightly buggy features (which I like), but obviously much prettier with it.
Â
Â
Man yeah, I was in love with her watching Me and Orson Welles!
-
A topical one:
Â
Kathryn Bigelow (58 years old )
Â
Â
Â
May be the hottest 58 year old around. I was shocked when I found out how old she was...

Submitted for your consideration: Veronica Freeman of Benedictum
Â
Â
In an era of shitty opera metal bands, Benedictum are something of a breath of fresh air. Veronica's previous experience was in a Dio tribute act, and she has a powerful traditional metal vocal style. None of your poncing around in a flowing gown squeaking about summer rain, or nicking material from children's films..
Â
Â
Schwing. Awesome. In those pictures she looks like someone from a Russ Meyer film, which is no bad thing..
-
Â
Very funny.
Â
Best thing they've done all year!

Yeah I liked Let Me In, saw Let the Right One In in the cinema when it came out so get me I'm all cool, and loved it, so obviously the remake syndrome kicked in, its good, but it really fails when you ask what is the point to remaking a beautiful- perfect film a year or two later? It looks really similar to LTROI and it really only is worthwhile to people who hate watching movies with subtitles..
