What I love about that match is that Orig Wiliams was obviously low on inspiration that day, so the name of the heel tag team is Y Dau Ddihiryn, which translates simply as 'The two bad guys'.

The WWE did a really good job of making Wrestlemania 9's set look good. Compare it to the usual set-up for Boxing at the Ceasar's Palace car park.

I think I'd be right in saying that this was Big Daddy's last televised match, as recently as 1992. I used to love watching Reslo as a kid, and there's a load of matches on this bloke's youtube channel including Steve Regal (Jones) Welsh gimmick.

Depends on your age i'd have thought.
Â
Men of a certain age will have given Miss Elizabeth that accolade I'd imagine.

Molly Holly/Miss Madness was always pretty in a girl next door type of way.

The posting of the Beverley Brothers' quite frankly, brilliant entrance music in the themes thread, reminded me of this. The famous Shaker Heights Spike...

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say anything good about Curtis Hughes tbh, but am slowly working my way through WWF Wrestling Challenge episodes from 1993 (I purposely chose Challenge over Superstars because of the Jim Ross/Heenan broadcast combo).
I'm really enjoying Mr Hughes' squash matches and he had a pretty good look. His character certainly should have worked in that time period.

Don't know who's stag do this was, but the variety of characters is brilliant!

Okay, this didn't sit well with me. I realise from some people's tweets that I may be in the minority with this. I do not like a part-time champion. It demeans the product if your champion can't be fucked to turn up to your TV shows, or even your PPVs.
There may be times when the particular absentee champion could warrant that treatment but I don't buy Lesnar as a big enough star for that. Again, I know I'm probably not in the majority when it comes to that.
Â
To be fair, Brock doing all that shit on TV is an improvement on Hulk Hogan's title run in 1993, which consisted of a few vignettes from the set of Thunder in Paradise and dropping it to Yokozuna at King of the Ring.
Â

To be fair, that new show sounds interesting on paper. Will give it a go most definately (assuming it replaces Xplosion).

I never noticed the WCW drawn into the logo until today.
Â
That was a crap logo.
Â
This was brilliant though. Why fix something that isn't broken?

Just given the New Generation podcasts a go following the earlier recommendation. I do enjoy listening to them as its an era that I watched religiously (although no other fucker in my school or most of the western world were) and brings back some memories. One thing that takes a lot away is that none of the presenters seem to have been watching at the time, and most of the angles and wrestlers are completely new to them. Bit odd that tbh.
-
Bray Wyatt is on Austin's show this week (part two is next Tuesday).
Â
Great show, and nice to hear him speak out of character. He is one driven man. Austin tried to get the sly dig in about his fitness (he's mentioned before that Bray needs to lose weight) but other than that it was great to hear the story of his character and how he fell in love with the sport.
Â
Why can't we just have some fat wrestlers on the roster any more?
-
WWE bought WCW's video library, if WCW had cameras there then the court case footage would be part of that library. Kind of like how Paul Heyman's DVD had backstage footage of ECW shows where he's riling the talent up. It's not just TV/PPV shows they buy.
Â
Interesting. I thought that footage was from Beyond the Mat as it had the same camera angles and everything.
-
Isn't it time to just lay off the authority figure stuff now? Is it actually needed?
-
Steve Regal had two stints in each promotion during the wars

Did you not see TNA with the British Eurosport commentary? It was painful viewing.Â
Â
Ah, but Eurosport's TNA is a different matter. A bloke trying to play off TNA bouts as legitimate athletic contests is one thing, but Gordon Solie was brilliant I thought.
-
If it's simply old New Japan footage with American commentary then it might feel a bit 'Eurosporty'.
Â
Â
Nothing wrong with that!
-
Not a bad show at all, certainly stands up to most of the recent WWE shows I've seen anyway. WCW was up against an insanely hot WWF at the time though.
Â

Never seen this finish before!

Sgt Slaughter's jumping over the turnbuckle spot was my favourite.

Will be interesting to see the attendances on the UK tour. Seems to be no problem at the moment getting decent tickets or fan interaction so looks to be selling a lot slower than in the past.
Â
If it doesn't sell well enough to warrant another arena tour there must be a risk of SJM kicking them into touch.
Â
I've been for the past 4 years to the Manchester shows but I will save any decision on how the company (if any) is looking at that time.Â

Vince must laugh his arse off at these so called 'hijackings'. They've already paid their money , so he's got that, and they seem determined to have a miserable time. It's like paying to go see a band and booing them for the whole show
Â
Exactly. They hate his product so much that they're upset at not being able to spend extra every month to watch more of it.
Â
I don't think waiting so long will be beneficial for subscriber numbers though. I was well up for getting it when it launched but I'm so used to downloading anything from the network that tickles my fancy from torrent sites etc, I'm not even sure I'll bother now.

You keep your butties till last to mop up the gravy. Yorkshires go early doors while crisp.

A prime example of why more competition is needed in north America and not less.
Nothing infuriates me more than seeing fans online shit on TNA and other companies, hoping they go bust just so they can see a few of their stars pop up on Raw or whatever.
WWE already has a 90% market share, let's hope its never 100%.Â
