  1. Watching Impact on Sky+ now and the travesty really is that its a perfectly good wrestling show apart from the lack of atmosphere, where it sounds like there's about 50 people in the Impact Zone. I even liked the intro where Angle was waiting for Eric Young as he drove to the arena.

Edit: Must mention Mickie James' incredible knockers.

Oh for fuck sakes, make me look stupid why don't you? Thanks for that.

  3. It'd be amiss to say TNA don't have an audience because they were drawling around a 1.0 rating on Spike (sometimes higher) which is pretty much a third of what Raw gets.

So yeah, it probably comes down to price as there's plenty of stuff they could put up on the Network. As a bonus, a good chunk has also been digitised so wouldn't need converting like they've had to do with all their older footage.

  4. How much money were they losing around 2005/6? Thats the only time I'd say I was ever a proper TNA fan, watched a few 2010 shows when they had everyone showing up but they were shite

I won't hear that kind of talk about the January 4 show thank you!

In fairness, I think any other wrestling promotion that hopes to get above a certain level is pretty much fucked now. ROH has its niche audience of course, but the vast majority of the WWE's support has no interest in giving any other promotion a chance any more.

When I grew up it was almost expected that you watched WWF and WCW side by side, but I think the norm now is that WWE is the only game in town (which it is to be fair) and sod the rest.

  5. Anyone looking for an hour to fill here and there could do much worse than giving some of the old Saturday Night Main Events a go.

I hadn't seen any eps in their entirety before, but they're great. Only last 45 mins or so but they're a great snapshot of the product at that moment in time.

Ended up watching the last SNME of the original run last night (late 92) and it was great.

  6.

D'Lo is now a bouncer at the Cheetah club, that The Godfather runs.

Is this true?! That's awesome, I really fucking he hope he warns any troublemakers that he's gonna kick their sorry ass out on the street before ejecting them. I'm actually planning on going to Cheetahs when I'm in Vegas in August. They advertise that if you go on a Saturday night you can meet The Godfather. True to form for a sad bastard UKFFer, I'm a bit more excited about this than I am about the prospect of having hot Vegas strippers gyrating in my lap.

I'm out there the week that Jarrett runs one of his shows, which I am very tempted to drag the missus along too. Technically it falls within the honeymoon portion of our stay, but I'm sure she'd be cool with it.

I thought I'd done well to persuade the missus to come and watch a Wrestling show with me during our week in Vegas, but you've trumped me big style there!

  7. Over protection of the big show - name the last wrestler to beat the fat bouncer clean? Not 1 for months.

Doesn't that tell you something about the terrible way he's been booked since joining the WWE though?

Look at the size of the bloke, he shouldn't be getting pinned clean apart from very rare occasions.

Maybe i'm being old fashioned but there you go.

  8. I hate specific pay per views like Hell in a Cell or Elimination Chamber. Surely matches like those (Hell in a Cell especially) should only be used when they have a feud to justify the stipulation, not just because its a certain month of the year. The Royal Rumble is different.

The vast majority of 'comedy' in WWE over the years. Its more of a personal thing as I like The Office, The Thick of It etc, so I find most American comedy to be way too obvious and in your face, and Wrestling is certainly no exception to this.

Irrational, but people who start compling lists of the 'best ever' whatever when they've only been watching a few years and haven't done much to seek out older wrestling.

  9. The US fans don't have to subscribe to at least a £40 a month sports package just to watch Raw either.

More fool them if they pay £40 just to watch Raw to be honest. its a big outlay every month but its not really a bad package when you consider how much Football, Cricket, Rugby League etc you get.
