Watching Impact on Sky+ now and the travesty really is that its a perfectly good wrestling show apart from the lack of atmosphere, where it sounds like there's about 50 people in the Impact Zone. I even liked the intro where Angle was waiting for Eric Young as he drove to the arena.
Â
Edit: Must mention Mickie James' incredible knockers.
Â
Oh for fuck sakes, make me look stupid why don't you? Thanks for that.

I love how the first 15 seconds sounds like 90% of WCW's mid 90's themes!

I wasn't convinved this was the end until reading this now. Sadly, its safe to say they're fooked.

The memo's been leaked apparently -

It'd be amiss to say TNA don't have an audience because they were drawling around a 1.0 rating on Spike (sometimes higher) which is pretty much a third of what Raw gets.
So yeah, it probably comes down to price as there's plenty of stuff they could put up on the Network. As a bonus, a good chunk has also been digitised so wouldn't need converting like they've had to do with all their older footage.
-
Well, he was walking on eggshells wasn't he. Couldn't be seen to be endorsing TNA or he'd be in trouble. Think he ended up mumbling something about TNA fans being great or something, and that was that.
Had a good run down there though.Â
-
I used to love Cornette on commentary, he's brill on Shotgun Saturday Night during that time too.Â
-
That Slammiversary Pay Per View with Christian was one of my favourite wrestling shows over the past 10 years. Might watch it again as a little eulogy if they end up going under.
-
I tend to agree with Butchi that the tapes are porbably not a great deal of use to WWE but I do honestly think that a worst of TNA series on the Network or on DVD would be absolutely gold.
Â
I hope that never happens. I detest the 'lets laugh at WCW' stuff on the network when WWE hardly has much to crow about in that regard, especially the mid noughties.
-
Â
ÂWith Devitt, I just wished that he could go back to his old name on the main roster
Â
Why?
Because the names WWE gives wrestlers these days is almost universally shite i'd imagine.
-
Quite funny that Destination America are still plugging Slammiversary on their Twitter.
-
How much money were they losing around 2005/6? Thats the only time I'd say I was ever a proper TNA fan, watched a few 2010 shows when they had everyone showing up but they were shite
Â
I won't hear that kind of talk about the January 4 show thank you!Â
Â
In fairness, I think any other wrestling promotion that hopes to get above a certain level is pretty much fucked now. ROH has its niche audience of course, but the vast majority of the WWE's support has no interest in giving any other promotion a chance any more.
When I grew up it was almost expected that you watched WWF and WCW side by side, but I think the norm now is that WWE is the only game in town (which it is to be fair) and sod the rest. Â
-
So when can we expect that Spectacular Fall of TNA DVD from WWE?
I take no pleasure in saying this, but that's that isn't it?
-
Had a lieu day off work so gave TNA Impact a go for the first time since before Christmas. It was surprisingly decent to be fair. What have the shows been like generally over recent weeks?
-
Anyone looking for an hour to fill here and there could do much worse than giving some of the old Saturday Night Main Events a go.
I hadn't seen any eps in their entirety before, but they're great. Only last 45 mins or so but they're a great snapshot of the product at that moment in time.
Ended up watching the last SNME of the original run last night (late 92) and it was great.

D'Lo is now a bouncer at the Cheetah club, that The Godfather runs.
Â
Is this true?! That's awesome, I really fucking he hope he warns any troublemakers that he's gonna kick their sorry ass out on the street before ejecting them. I'm actually planning on going to Cheetahs when I'm in Vegas in August. They advertise that if you go on a Saturday night you can meet The Godfather. True to form for a sad bastard UKFFer, I'm a bit more excited about this than I am about the prospect of having hot Vegas strippers gyrating in my lap.
Â
I'm out there the week that Jarrett runs one of his shows, which I am very tempted to drag the missus along too. Technically it falls within the honeymoon portion of our stay, but I'm sure she'd be cool with it.
Â
Â
I thought I'd done well to persuade the missus to come and watch a Wrestling show with me during our week in Vegas, but you've trumped me big style there!
-
Over protection of the big show - name the last wrestler to beat the fat bouncer clean? Not 1 for months.
Doesn't that tell you something about the terrible way he's been booked since joining the WWE though?
Look at the size of the bloke, he shouldn't be getting pinned clean apart from very rare occasions.
Maybe i'm being old fashioned but there you go.

I hate specific pay per views like Hell in a Cell or Elimination Chamber. Surely matches like those (Hell in a Cell especially) should only be used when they have a feud to justify the stipulation, not just because its a certain month of the year. The Royal Rumble is different.
Â
The vast majority of 'comedy' in WWE over the years. Its more of a personal thing as I like The Office, The Thick of It etc, so I find most American comedy to be way too obvious and in your face, and Wrestling is certainly no exception to this.Â
Â
Irrational, but people who start compling lists of the 'best ever' whatever when they've only been watching a few years and haven't done much to seek out older wrestling.
-
Austin and the WWE are on bad terms again apparently.
-
Anyone in chat tonight?
-
I seriously couldn't care less about Wrestlemania this year and I have no idea why. Every year I seem to have been sucked into the product by now but for some reason, its creeped up on me and I'm debating if I'll even bother at all. Suppose I'm alone in that regard.
-
Bloody hell, that's even worse than Hercules' "Its my last match, I don't give a shit" debacle at MSG. Poor Sid.
Â
-
The US fans don't have to subscribe to at least a £40 a month sports package just to watch Raw either.Â
Â
More fool them if they pay £40 just to watch Raw to be honest. its a big outlay every month but its not really a bad package when you consider how much Football, Cricket, Rugby League etc you get.

As long as he doesn't start chewing tobacco like in the shoot interview that lasted hours!
Impact wrestling thread - It's a Don West tribute thread now!
