  1. When they announced this I remember thinking, reading, probably typing elsewhere that this virtual fan screen thing was going to potentially be the worst thing they've ever done. It always happens during the rare few times they've given live air time to fans like this, the million dollar deal where Vince had to listen to Rick Astley for ages, the WWE forum that got Rotten dot com'd into closure. It even took them longer than most to get an official Youtube.

WWE is still iron clad carnival shit. They reply to nothing, acknowledge nothing, treat anyone still spending money on them with contempt, and when they sort of get collared once a blue moon they wave terrible fucking behaviour away like Inspector Helmsley last week. People are idiots online when they have freedom like this given to them, but the WWE's method of silence, denial, nihilism, whatever, I think it's all at play and for every fan who genuinely feels like Hulk Hogan is just Hulk Hogan and Terry Bollea is someone they just never think about, all that stuff, there's people who'll see him coming back after saying what he said as confirming their own fucked up bollocks. It's honestly feels like the least surprising thing this happened. It'll just keep happening aswell til they ditch it because it's WWE and they are as thick as humanly fucking possible, collectively. If they ever held anybody responsible for anything it'd make the fan experience so much better for anyone this side of normal. Every fandoms going to have it's issues but WWE could have done so much fucking more years, decades before all this to not get here. Contempt from the company is only going to come back in return tenfold, like this.

Discussing wrestling's driving me fucking mad at the minute because it feels like everyone (the royal everyone, not here specifically or anything) are cycling through the same arguments over and over again, same storyline plot points, same fan discourse. I don't know, it seems insane to me that we're all at this point, like we got to 2010 and stuck around in quicksand watching everything just slowly get weirder and shitter and as mad as everything else. RAW inadvertently airs an ISIS execution and photgraph of Chris Benoit and it's still not the weirdest week they've ever had.

I hope this makes sense, sorry, but the discussion of the whole thunderdome thing last night really interested me, the reaction and everything

  2. WWE has absolutely no credibility to any fucker does it. If any other type of business did the exact same thing they'd be fucked alive if their summary was, after already putting him on TV or equivalent, yeah we had a look and nothing to worry about, yeah internal had a look yeah, yeah the D O DOUBLE G and KWANG had a nose.

  3. Probably the only time you'll see HHH get anything close to looking like a proper tit these days aswell so it was worth it in the end. Might rewatch that to focus on his face for the long, well lit walk to the ring

  4. Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson was the end of 1996 aswell which felt like a bit of a turning point, while you had dogshit like Bush still pushing that post grunge balls. Started there, and well and truly had its day by Woodstock 99

  5. post Nirvana was a bit of a no mans land til America took to nu metal about the end of 97. Given the insane shit Michaels, HHH and others were wearing on their off moments, like mixtures of business suits and then brazilian cut shorts and loafers, he'd have looked alright for a while.

  6. it'll end up like that fucking Finders Keepers PPV they did with people running about corporate, ie no cunt will remember it happening by the Tuesday after. The biggest positive of them going full ROLLERJAM is as always the possibility it'll be total shit and they'll look like cunts, but as it stands it mainly works and 99% of the time ends up a boring waste of time.

I imagine there’s always been these nutters around but likely used to have a much harder time gathering information on their idols / victims, let alone being able to interact with them.

It was so much easier to get closer to anyone with any level of fame in past decades. Ronald Reagan was shot by a guy outside a hotel at close range, the same guy had previously managed to also get to Jodie Fosters dorm room at her uni and send her notes and phone calls. Rebecca Schaeffer was shot on her doorstep by a fan, same with John Lennon.  That's the scarier thing about this, the guys plan was three quarters done, like he was in the fucking gaff. Horrifying

I don't think the HBK/Undertaker match was a finisher spamming forced nostalgia epic. It's a great match with a fantastic story leading into it. I do think though that the high praise and success of those matches definitely influenced how WWE did things going forwards though with endless forced attempts to create similar epic matches and moments with little to no success and at massive damage to the product, completely missing everything that made those original two matches so special.

That's standard WWE since about 2006. Something works better than planned, have a go of it's arse til it doesn't resemble itself any more

  9. Nah sorry but fuck Ospreay and his Florida shaped head forever. Imagine hearing your mates fucking assaulted someone like that and your first thought is to protect your mates job. I don't give a shit if he's down the green end on some clap-o-meter of evil. Someone with that kind of attitude and capability to do that, and to then also have done it, verifiably if i'm reading the thread right, that's a dangerous fucking person who needs to grow up fast and have a long, long fucking look at how he operates on a very basic human level. That is not a cunt I want anywhere near any fucking show with me, men, women, kids, anyone until he's shown a serious amount of effort in changing the way he thinks and works.

If there's going to be any kind of code of conduct, how do you work with someone whos done that? Dyou flag that up in a CRB or background check? If I book Ospreay and he brings a mate or friends or crew or workers, do I then have to hope none of them are as dangerous as his other mates?

  10. reading up on Dick Togo and I never knew this about Kaientai's name ot it's significance -

    Quote

The group debuted in Japan's Michinoku Pro wrestling promotion in late 1994 when SATO, Terry Boy and Shiryu introduced themselves as Kai En Tai. The name "Kai En Tai" was based on Japan's first modern corporation, Kaientai ("Naval Auxiliary Force"), a naval institution and paramilitary organization dedicated to freeing Japan from feudal rule and protecting the country's national sovereignty that was a major player in the introduction of the Meiji Restoration.

Mad! from that to a weird racist/xenophobic full house parody of Hong Kong films

  11. get all these shite bands in jail, even if theyve done fuck all, just launch them in, off to see tony rich project tonight? nah he's in the nick

  12. Rock's pre match promo to HHH before their leather strap match at Fully Loaded 1999 I think is up top for me as a favourite promo. It's the first one my head goes to the second I think of greatest promos. It's just so, so fucking mean. The delivery of the 25 cents line to Cole makes me think he had less prepped than usual because he goes right in on him. I don't even remember why they got into this, but as a kid I watched this and was totally convinced The Rock was a fucking mega star and HHH was done.
