Okay, I finished it over the last couple of days (my timekeeping is always perfect). It was no Until Dawn. Still quite liked it though, about on-par with House of Ashes, the base storyline was better in this, but with less scope for screwing people over in great ways (tbf it's really hard to top being able to pull a husband's hand away while his wife's hanging over a cliff. BURN!). I respect that the game let me make the bold call to kill of the asthmatic girl ASAP. It was purely tactical, she only had 1 ammo left in her inhaler and would have been a wheezy burden during the hidey/runny parts.

I've grown really fond of The Curator over these last four games. A dick with mystique. Definitely down for season 2, which given I hated the first two is pretty impressive. The teaser for the next one looked interesting. Space horror is definitely back in vogue right now. Good!

What console did you get it on and how did it run? I'm giving it a few days to see if more patches come out (I got the Xbox version, PS5 one seems fine, PC's fuuucked). I think I'll still like it, despite the reviews. Short and linear is a big selling point to me these days.

Done with Ragnarok. The story came together fine at the end, but what a bloated, needlessly overlong experience. I was sick of it through large portions of the second half, and that's with me skipping most of the side stuff from the part I came in here to complain about onwards. There's only so many hundreds of times you can hear a companion shout "look out, he's behind you!" etc before you question why don't you just zoom the camera out and let me see all the people I'm fighting? Because it might stop it looking like an identikit Souls game? Because it might ruin the wanky one-shot camera gimmick? One of the biggest gaming disappointments ever. The first dozen or so hours were so good, too.

Even if it ends up just being the Evil Within to Dead Space's Resi 4, I'm good with that, I fucking love Dead Space (and Resi 4!).

I'll always have a decent word to say about CEX, they went out of their way to correct a stupid mistake I'd made a few years ago. I traded some games in in-store, and a week or so later I used the voucher to buy stuff online, or thought I did, in reality I went to check-out, forgot to push confirm, threw my receipt in the bin and sat with my feet up waiting on my very successful order to arrive like a complete prick. I sent them a hopeful email and they got back in touch asking for a day and a rough time I was in, within a few hours they'd tracked it down and said I could go back to the store and they'd print another one out for me. A nice move when all I really expected back was a "tough titties, don't throw your vouchers in the bin, then!".

Doesn't invalidate any bad experiences people have, but I like to throw it out there when they get shit on. #NotAllCexOffenders

I detested it and gave up after a few hours. Not only do you have to be constantly changing your bullets for different enemies, you have to change your bullets back for the jabroni ones, because they're immune to armour-piercing rounds, and their weakness is shit bullets, ffs.

Another in the continuing trend of games that would rather climb a tree and make you spend days in menus than stand on the ground and let you stay immersed and actually let you play through it.

Was loving Ragnarok despite the RPG trash, I'm about 12-15 hours in now and good lord that A******* (you'll know when you get to it) section was dreadful. Boring filler that went on FOREVER. The worst few hours I've spent with a game in recent memory. Instant "I'm never replaying this game" moment. Luckily business seems to have picked up again straight after, but I need a break after sitting through that. I have a bad feeling there's going to be another few sections like that.

I'll always be grateful for the Evolution matches. So many possible dream matches that they never pulled the trigger on for some reason, then in the only few months this one could possibly happen we got it twice. Magic!
