  1. I think this would make a good cheesy babyface entrance, great for a fan sing along - right from the opening lyrics "sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air,
I know I can count on you"....and the anthemic chorus kicks in about 30 seconds in

  2. This really upset me this morning. What a total shock. Just 1 year older than me. Its all too easy to think you are invulnerable, but truth is, it can all end tomorrow. Life is precious.

From a professional point of view, he was clearly enjoying himself this year and so many of us have enjoyed his work as the Exhaulted One. That Dog Collar Match with Cody should be a candidate for MOTY.

Rest in peace Mr Brodie Lee.

  4. What a year for AEW. I won dolt of the year in 2019 for my OTT excitement for how good I thought AEW was going to be..........I feel like I have been vindicated! Honourable mentions - Stadium Stampede at Double or Nothing (which I can't believe hasn't made my top 3), Best Friends vs. Santana & Ortiz (Parking Lot Brawl), Page v Omega at Full Gear.

    3. Young Bucks v FTR at Full Gear (Meltzer 5.25 stars)

Just an amazing match and not even the crescendo of their fued. I expect them to top this next year in front of an arena full of fans, closing out a PPV. I know some folks were flat on this one going in as they didn't like the build on Dynamite, but for a fan who has been waiting for this for years, it was just great.

    2. Kenny Omega vs Pac 30 minute Ironman Match on Dynamite in February (Meltzer 4.75 stars)

My favourite Dynamite match of the year came just days before my #1. For all the criticism (unfair in my view) of Kenny Omega - he kicked off 2020 with this incredible match and continued to have great matches throughout 2020. Tony Schiavone & Excalibur said it was the best match ever on TNT and I think they are probably right.

    1. Kenny Omega & Adam Page vs The Young Bucks at Revolution (Meltzer 6 stars)

The best tag team match I have ever seen. I'm so glad it happened just before fans disappeared - the atmosphere was amazing and everyone was on their feet by the end. Tony Schiavone was just superb on commentary. The right team won and Hangman looked like a superstar.

What does the BP stand for in this instance? I’m not familiar with that term.

I had the news broken to me by my current manager as per protocol, but he wasn’t the manager who appraised me so he had no actual context. It was when I raised it with my old manager who appraised me did I get told I was performing as expected.

@Chest Rockwell I haven’t had it confirmed in black and white that I’ve been graded as a 0, but us team leaders were told outright that we would be getting bonuses if graded 1, 2 or 3. I’ve also told both managers I’ve spoken to that I’m assuming I’ve been graded as a 0 and received no response that would persuade me otherwise, which in my place is as good as confirmation. I’d be surprised if I receive a direct answer on that, they’re very secretive at my place about this sort of thing.

Interestingly, I spoke to a work friend about this yesterday who confirmed he’d received a small bonus, and I know for a fact he’d been graded as a 0 as well because I was in the wash up session. Admittedly, he’s a pay grade below me, but those in his pay grade were only confirmed to be getting bonuses at grade 2 and 3, so fuck knows what’s happened there. The only thing I can think of is that he was promoted during the financial year, so his bonus has potentially come from his time in his prior job role, but my counter argument would be that I was also promoted during the same timeframe, so if that’s the case then I should have also been appraised for a period under my old role.

The lack of transparency of your system is appalling.

HRBP is HR Business Partner - whoever your contact is in your organisation.

In my organisation we go through a similar process, but everyone has their rating communicated to them in a performance review and bonuses are paid out a couple of months later - allowing time for appeals. I am quite happy over turning decisions and throwing managers under a bus if they can't evidence giving feedback during the year advising their people of where the shortcomings are and what they need to do about it. You only have to do that once or twice before line managers get their act together.

I say this so often that it could end up being written on my grave stone, but if managers have under performing employees, yet can't evidence that they have managed / coached and provided constructive feedback to the employee, then its not the employee who I have a problem with.....its the manager who is failing.

  6. Hi @Slapnut, HR here,

Start by asking your HRBP why you got no bonus, it could be a payroll issue or something simple.

But......If you get no satisfactory response, or are told your rating was downgraded in calibration to a bottom rating (disqualifying you from a bonus), then you need to raise a grievance. Your justification for your grievance is that at no point has your manager indicated that your performance was not up to standard, has said they are happy with your performance and this comes as a total surprise - its unfair as you've not been given the opportunity to improve.

Knowing that you work for one of Deloitte, PwC, EY or KPMG, I know these firms tend to be quite ruthless when it comes to exiting poor performers  and some expect the bottom 10% to be exited every year (they actually measure this). So....if you have been given a bottom rating you want to know about it pronto - so you can either fight it or start looking for a new job.

Given that the music scene in Aberdeen (pre Covid obviously) was almost non-existent I'm delighted to see Cold Years getting some good press.

Seeing as Aberdeens most famous musical exports are still Annie Lennox and half of The Shamen it's about time someone else stood out. Hopefully they can keep it up

My home town....so I can agree with you that there has never been much of a music scene. Although I think I've seen more acts in the Lemon Tree than any other UK venue.

The Xcerts have released four fantastic albums, including an all time classic in In The Cold Wind We Smile.

They're from Aberdeen if I'm not mistaken.

Hold On To Your Heart is an awesome album.

Really enjoyed my near 4hrs with the show this morning.

Thought Hangman vs Omega & Young Bucks vs FTR matches were superb and as already pointed out, Hangman hiding on the set after the tag match said so much.

Surprised that Shida held onto the belt but guess it's easier to transition the title to Baker.

Enjoyed the Deletion match more than others seemed to. Dicking around with fireworks isn't big or clever but was very funny. Who is Benjamin who got a big pop driving the truck?

Main event was a passable brawl but thumb tacks are icky. Could see Kingston turn face after that. I genuinely felt sorry for him.

Senor Benjamin featured heavily in the Broken Universe matches in Impact wrestling.

  10. I love those occasions when you get a NJPW event at the start of the day and an AEW event at the end of the day.

Despite struggling to stay awake, I loved Full Gear - that was my favourite event of the year and probably my favourite AEW PPV since the first Double or Nothing.

Omega has abviously had his critics in AEW, but I'd put 3 of his matches in my shortlist for MOTY candidates - the iron man match with PAC on Dynamite in February, the tag classic with Page and the Young Bucks at Revolution and now this corker with Page at Full Gear. Where does Page go from here? Asuming Omega dethrones Moxley, I don't see Page challenging Omega until a year from now - so plenty of time to play out a decline and redemption story.

FTR v The Young Bucks was everything I hoped it would be - that flew by, lived up to the hype and told a great story and that well crafted ending definitely leaves room for a return match - which I hope they don't pull the trigger on for a while.

Darby / Cody outcome surprised me - I didn't see a switch coming, but its about time Cody did something that doesn't revolve around the TNT title (hopefully as a heel) and Darby Allin needs a boost right now.

John Silver has to be in the running for 'rookie of the year'.

I agree with an earlier comment that Jericho / MJF was what it needed to be to progress a story. I've never been that invested in MJF, but if it leads to a betrayal & face turn for Jericho then I'm all for it - the AEW fans really want to chear for Jericho.

I hope that is the final Deletion match - I'm sick of it too. But the whole fued has ultimately elevated Sammy Guevara and he now should move on to something bigger. Hardy's "opposition in the mud, you love to see it" comment together with his "long term story telling" quib with Hurricane both had be laughing.

I'm not really invested in womens wrestling, but Hikaru Shida / Nyla Rose held my attention and over delivered. Loved the finishing sequence with Shida looking like an absolute badass when pulling Rose up on the one count, the sadistic grin followed by those vicious kicks or knees - whatever it was.

I liked the main event - I know the hardcore stuff isn't for everyone, but it was certainly more restrained than the Omega / Moxley match from a year ago. As the match progressed, I thought a switch was increasingy likely - to create a "moment" and provide a stop-gap champion for Omega to beat at Revolution, Still, I'm fine with the outcome as we get Moxley / Omega 2 and the continuation of a story line that started on AEW's first show.

    ÂŁ16 well spent.

Are you crazy?! That’s the coldest match on the whole card! They’ve taken what was supposed to be a dream match years in the making and turned it into a confusing mess.

What I think angers me the most about the Reynolds thing is that they’ve got no excuse this time. With Matt Hardy you could argue they hadn’t experienced anything like that before, so everyone was panicking and unsure what to do. How it can happen again a few weeks later, with unconscious people being dragged around and left in harms way, with people doing spots and taking bumps around him? Fucking hell. Beyond negligent.

My psychological wellbeing to one side, I've been waiting for this one for years - this build started on BTE years ago and they have held it back for so long since FTR debuted on Dynamite, that I'm chomping at the bit for this match.

The Reynolds thing is really disturbing. The worst part being the referee not checking on him. AEW need to to hire Mike Chioda to sort these referees out.

I actually wondered how long it would take for defamation lawsuits to start to surface. I believe many will follow and I do hope those who made the accusations are able to provide evidence to substantiate their claims - or this could get extremely ugly. Every accuser in such a scenario should never be dismissed and their accusations treated as genuine, but if allegations can't be substantiated, particularly in such a litigious society like the US, then I worry women doing the right thing could fall foul of defamation law.

Anyone on the forum with decent knowledge of defamation law and what is required for a reasonable defence on both sides of the Atlantic?
