  1. Its airing on Starzplay in the UK. I intend to wait until all episodes have aired, then take the free 7 day trial available here: https://www.starz.com/gb/en/ and will blitz through it in a week.

I already pay for Amazon Prime, Disney+, Netflix, AEW Plus & NJPW World - I'm not paying for any more streaming services!!!

Casio being in the garbage list shows that that video isn't worth watching.

They end up in the top tier......that screen capture is deliberately misleading. Orient and Casio come out on top.

What price range would we be in for a good mechanical watch?

I have an Orient Kamasu that is part of the Seiko Epson group. That watch is part of my regular rotation- and is under £200 on Amazon. You can get othet automatics starting even cheaper.....but the Kamasu has a sapphire crystal instead of mineral and that's practically unheard of at that price point. plus the movement is hackable.

You could also look at the Seiko 5 range, but I don't think you get the same value for money. And I don't think the movements are hackable.

If you want a Swiss watch, then you pay a premium. But Tissot and Oris are probably the best at the affordable end....you can pick up a Tissot Powermatic 80 for £400+

My first Automatic was an Orient Bambino v2, which are still sold new today for £100, but its more of a dress watch, so I sold it on. Had a mineral crystal though, that are prone to scratching.

But if the question is for the lowest price for a good automatic with sapphire crystal  and well made, I'd go with the Japanese Orient Kamasu for £200 from Amazon. Bought my brother one too. Both red and green look great.

Is there a reason that Quartz would be off your list?

Perhaps it’s an elitist mentality, after all mechanical can never compete with a quartz in terms of accuracy. However, the sweeping second hand alone would be enough of a reason to prefer mechanical for me already.

The reason people like mechanical watches is that they aren’t electronic / battery operated. And in a world completely run by electronic devices, it’s nice to have something that took hundreds of years of precise human engineering to physically solve a problem...... that's horology.

Mechanical watches are small works of art, craftsmanship, and somewhat complex pieces of machinery you can carry with you - with a whole lot of history to boot.

Somebody shared this on Twitter. Nice little promo video for Grand Seiko and the crazy levels they go to in creating their watches.

Fascinating. The level of care and detail that goes into creating luxury watches is mental. I'd love to own a Grand Seiko, just not a quartz one!

In terms of fairness its right that they have to pool everyone - they can't just pick on the underperformers. They are also entitled to set the selection criteria - as long as they are fair. They probably don't want to offer voluntary redundancy for fear the high performers want it and they are left with the lower rperformers, so doesn't surprise me that that isn't an option.

Regardless of the criteria, if you are selected for redundancy, you are entitled to the redundancy payments. Many companies offer enhanced redundancy beyond the statutory minimum. Have you asked in the consultation what those terms look like?

On the unfair dismissal point, you'd have a long wait - tribunal back logs are approaching 2 years and that is a long time to go with no income. Plus, any tribunal award for unfair dismissal would be reduced if you took a new role in the meantime. My advice is to try to secure your position through the redundancy process and aim to leave for a new job when you secure one.

I feel really guilty doing it but I've started to fantasise about ending my life when dealing with work shit.

I've applied for another job somewhere else. It's just, my manager is breathing down my neck about my staff following the guidance of the union and since I can't fix that its making my anxiety go through the roof. I can't make people do something they've been told not to do by the union. Especially when the union have also told me not to do it.

I just want to bang my managers' heads together and say "stop assuming you're right and try and actually talk to your staff instead of assuming they owe you a favour for being employed."

I also feel dangerously close to telling my manager the truth which, given his allergy to the truth, would probably result in a discipline.

    @Vamp
As a mental health first aider, as well as an HR Director, I'm concerned by your situation and am going to DM you.

  8. Normally I watch hour 1 of Dynamite live and the second hour the following evening.....no chance last night - I couldn't switch off. That was incredible from start to finish.

The opener was superb, the entrances felt like a massive deal. Silver looked like a star and I'm quite happy for Hangman's big win to be delayed (which I don't think will happen btw). I'd like them to go straight into the Punk /Omega fund the way Hogan went straight into a world title fued with Flair when he jumped to WCW in 1994. Won't happen though....Hangman rightly wins the gold at All Out.

Speaking of which, they more or less confirmed CM Punk is coming in. Rampage in 3 weeks time at the United Centre? Alin's promo? That deal is done and will be an absolute game changer.

FTR / PP was great until the freak injury. Tanahashi on AEW! Jungle Boy still can't do any wrong. Great Cody / Black segment to hype next weeks main event......

.....then there was the main event - which blew my mind. Absolutely loved it! I never thought you'd see something like that on PPV, never mind free TV! OK, toned down from Gage's usual stuff, but I never thought Jericho would go for all the glass and never thought we would see light tubes on TV. Just a gruesome superb, engaging mess that adds so much to the story of what Jericho will go through to get to MJF. Gage gave a really good account of himself.

Just a couple of weeks away from AEW increasing their TV output by 50% and with the run they are on, I can't wait.

It’s either two or it’s three. There are no halves. Either you’re in the office two days, or you’re in it three. Even if you have two full days in the office and then in the office for an hour the next day, you’re still going in for three days.

I bet they’re big Robin Van Persie fans.

We have a policy of 3. But half days count as half days. I know a few employees choosing to work in the office for half days twice a week, plus 2 full days, with Friday at home.

I've also granted permanent home working to a few employees formerly in the London office, but agreed to cut salary as a result - no justification for a London weighting if you're no longer going into London.

Keep a journal of everything. Dates and times of when you asked questions and the replies. Keep emails, times of phone calls etc. If your line manager is blaming your mental health then they’re shit at their job. Should they try and discipline you, having a record of all the times you’ve approached them and the replies you got will go a long way.

Keith is right - document everything. Memory is a poor custodian of fact. I'd also like to state that if you are clinically diagnosed with depression then you have extra protection under the Equality Act 2010. If your manager is throwing your disability back in your face to discredit you or bully you, consider taking legal advice......you could have a strong claim for disability discrimination under the Equality Act and those claims are uncapped (unlike constructive dismissal claims that are capped at roughly £90k or 1 years pay - whichever is the lower - and usually get settled out of court). It's those uncapped claims that us HR professionals would lose sleep over - they can be VERY costly.

  11. An anonymous survey that asks for your name and email address........sometimes I really worry about some of the people in my profession!

@Vamp - your HR team needs to bring in an independent third party to help resolve such workplace conflict and mediate. Only that could be mutually agreeable between the union and employer. Either side that felt that was not a fair way to go is being wholly unreasonable.

  12. Love seeing them back in a full arena. Absolutely great show and the crowd just sent it over the top. I wish Rampage was 2 hours as well, instead of 1, as the roster can easily fill that out.

And for all the criticism that AEW signs too many ex-WWE wrestlers, I thought this tweet was pretty interesting:

  13. I finally ordered my GMT watch today. Went with the new Christopher Ward Sealander GMT in white.

This is my 40th birthday gift to myself -a homage to the Rolex Explorer II, featuring a Sellita SW330-2 movement with a 56 hour power reserve.

Using a £100 off voucher, it came in at £800.

Unfortunately there is a waiting list and I have to patiently wait until October for delivery.
