Hadn't he just been a heel manager?Teddy Long was drafted to Smackdown as part of last year's Draft Lottery, took on Mark Jindrak as his protege, but was appointed Smackdown GM after Kurt Angle was fired from the position, around July of 2004.Angle was fired after he abused his position, costing Eddie Guererro his chance at beating JBL for the WWE Title in a cage match on Smackdown, after dressing as El Grand Luchadore and holding Guerrero, letting JBL escape. Angle had previously said his career was over after being chokeslammed off a ledge by the Big Show.
