And here it is. A blistering bit of business for late stage WWF Superstars. Perfect and Austin have an absolutely FANTASTIC slanging match that the live crowd notices and proper gets interested in. Austin is being a terrific gobshite slagging everyone off and it's probably the most intense you ever heard Hennig on the mic. Sterling stuff.

That is what instantly came to mind when I saw this thread, it was absolutely superb and felt incredibly fresh (in a time when there was a LOT of staleness). It’s an absolute travesty it only lasted a couple of weeks before he failed the Wellness test.

That visual of him looking pure evil on the KOTR throne, cutting off the Raw broadcast during the middle of HHH/Orton WWE title match main event, turning the arena lights out to silence fans and to cancel matches mid-action, kicking fans out the arena, even little things like cutting off a re-debuting Jeff Hardy’s mic.

His hands were all over the entire show and not in a ‘The Authority’ fuck off kind of way. 
 

It’s a massive shame we never got the HHH/Regal WWE title match that it was clearly edging towards, it would’ve been interesting to see if they actually put the belt on him.

Never seen this before! Love the way Austin keeps calling him “Hennig”, like he doesn’t wanna address him as Perfect. Love Perfect getting arsey and showing a bit more of an edge. And love JR going on like a frustrated Dad trying to control his kids. Was fully expecting him to just blurt out a “PACK IT IN YOU LITTLE SHITS” any minute. Shame this never led to anything more. By the time we finally got Austin vs Perfect it was 2002 and Perfect was a shadow of himself. I don’t think they’d have had killer matches in 96/97 like Austin had with Bret or anything. Even during the WCW run I never felt like Hennig was anywhere near as good as he was up to 93. But it could’ve been fun in late 96/early 97 when Austin was on the rise.
