Daddymagic
They were doomed when in their first press release they posed for photos with the Progress roster, despite Progress going through huge scrutiny at that exact time for not acting on speaking out.

Their first press release photo, the only person involved with PROGRESS was Tom Dawkins, which is hardly "the Progress roster". Tom and his partner Claire have worked pretty closely with the APPG throughout, and given that Claire has been doing great work in highlighting similar stories of abuse in gymnastics for years, they're the sort of people that the APPG should involve themselves with on issues like Speaking Out - experts in the field, with a provable track record, and enough knowledge of and investment in wrestling to know how best to apply that knowledge.  There's plenty to criticise the APPG for what they are or aren't doing, or the approach they're taking, but too much of what gets said about them is gossip or half-remembered nonsense that helps nobody. Paid Members JNLister Posted June 7, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted June 7, 2023 Summary of the debate: Â tl;dr:Â APPG: Can you do something about wrestling? Government: Something should be done. APPG: So you'll do it? Government: No, but something should be done.

As someone looking in - posing with the Progress title in publicity photos sends out the wrong message.  Not half remembered nonsense at all.

Sounds like most episodes of Yes Minister from the 1980s...  Minister: 'We really ought to do something' Civil servant/officers 'Yes we should,.but what?' Minister 'how about XYZ?' Civil service 'definitely not. As long as we're seen to be saying we're going to do something, that's all that matters' Nothing changes in government really. Edited June 7, 2023 by Big'Olympic_Hero'Pete
